Hey guys,

I have already tried and was able to connect the usb as mass storage controller. The only thing is I need to write something that will read it, haven't really look into that yet.

For those that was wondering about bypassing that warning message, it is part of the pioneer kiosk front end and thus reverse engineer will fix it. However, as of right now I will not try to modify it yet.

My main concern right now is to enable sound for the Windows CE apps. Pioneer software are able to access that audio hardware in a different layer. This is why iGO8, TomTom, and any other software dont have sound, neither does windows ce audio. Once I get this working, I will write another Audio and Video player for the unit that will boot up faster than the current one. All this will result in a whole new Front end for the AVIC pioneer unit that will have more features and flexibility such as skinning and themes. In the mean time stay tuned, the unit is now looking alot more like a Car Computer

PS: I have no ISP at the moment so progress might be slow for a bit. Im writing this post on my PDA phone.

OK Leet, I think I did something wrong, but I followed your directions exactly. Downloaded the SDContent.zip and extracted it to the root of my SD card, then downloaded the iGo8.zip and extracted that entire thing into the iGo8 directory you provided. The Avic and Testmode buttons work but when I press the iGo one it says something about the EZRider, but it is in the folder. Any idea?

If you having this problem, just copy or rename the Igo.exe file as EZRIDER.exe. The launcher launch as EZRIDER.exe not IGO.exe. So far the launcher is just to let you guys know what we can do, launcher will radically change on next update.

Do you have to install Tom Tom 7? Is that a free download from someplace?

critical question...how big of an SD card do i need for TomTom7 and iGo8 to be stored?

Also is Garmin a possibility?

Lastly do POIs work with these other gps programs, are they loading from Avic POIs?

TomTom will have no clue what to do with iGO's POI files (and vice versa).

Downloadable (ahem) version of iGO will handle POI files form AVIC, but you will need to copy them to SD Card. Of course if you go through that much trouble., downloadable maps and POI are newer than what is on the unit anyway.

Personally, I would not bother too much with Grarmin, but that's just me...

I like the igo8, that works pretty good... is there info on how to get Tom Tom up and running (Download / Patch)?

two more questions:

When you say load maps into igo8, are you referrng to the other thread where we should copy avic files onto SD in the 25mb patched igo8 folder?

Also does BT commands still work while in the other gps programs? For instance; button > call home, or button > change audio source to ipod or button > play artist milli vanilli

Will you be including src/instructions? I'm highly interested in your progress as well as adapting this to additional applications.

I just installed my first avic unit this weekend (900) and so far I love it, I'm also a software architect specializing in Microsoft technologies, with experience with Windows Mobile (though not my specialty), so I'm highly excited about seeing what can be done with this unit.

However, when i followed the instructions and reload the set no launcher appears.

i exctracted the Zip to SD , i got 2 dirs , one Testmode and one iGO8 map ( is this correct ?)

Iám a European user could that be a problem ?!

You should follow the Leet instructions to get the launcher working. After that just follow my post about installing the Igo8, it's already changed to use with the launcher.

It's a patched version so any map should do run, even European ones.

This is a really nice modification. Works great on my system. How I wish that my iPod or Satellite Radio would work when using IGO8. The interface is nice and clean. Nice job on setting up this mod.

I am not a programmer, but I would think that the IGO8 could replace the IGO currently being used on the AVIC. Are they that different?

I look forward to the progress in this mod. Who do I send beers to?

They are, basically, the same version of iGO, but the one on AVIC is a special build for Pioneer so it can integrate with other custom software and hardware on th3e unit (gyro, VSS, MSN Direct, A/V overlays etc).

One probably could get a generic version of iGO to run from AVIC's flash disk, but then you would lose all those integration points.

Good point. I hope the mod will progress further to allow integration with other features of the AVIC.

Which version of Tomtom 7 should we be looking for?

I noticed something this evening and I wonder if other people have experienced this.

When you select the avic from the launcher it loads ok, but here is what is missing:

1. XM & Sirius do not display channel or information.

2. FM & AM as well as HD Radio do not show frequency or text.

3. Volume display is missing.

4. EQ is disabled.

The unit is usable, you just cant see what you are listening to.

Anyone else notice this? Thanks.

Same with me, I have to pull the card and reset the unit. No big deal, just need to work out some bugs

While playing around in either the emulator or testmode, I launched the file "APL\Shell.exe". That in turn launched mainmenu.exe. Is it possible that shell is what actually handles setting things like the GPS, radio, iPod, etc up, and then av.exe, mainmenu.exe etc handle the UI/events?
