With Pioneer making their own XM tuners, are there any plans of supporting the XM Mini Tuner (like the Kenwood KCA-XM100V)?
Update should be out in about a month.Hey JasonH can you ask Pioneer when they plan on releasing the new 2009 maps for the Z/N/D series and any kind of info on what the upgrades consist please??? And is it possible to also find out if they are still using TeleAtlas or moving to NAVTEQ
Are there any new firmware for the AVIC-F series?
The new 3.0 software will be available in the new X-series on both the 710 and 910 but im not sure if its compatible with he older models...i would assume that it should but i am not making any promises...but i played around with the new x-series with the software and man is it so much FASTER than the F series...in terms of navigating through the menus cant wait till the release in july.

Let's hope this statement also holds true for the Z series replacement... been waiting for a better build of software on the Z. Plus updated code will be more readily hackable ![]()
Sounds great regarding the 3.0, nimz. Is the cpu 600Mhz on X-series? If it is, the improvement should be almost the same on F-series.

i didnt get into the bare details of it...so im not sure...sorry...but i can find out the next time i see our regional rep.
So today i was driving and i pulled up next to a white c350 at a stop light. I looked in and saw a guy with a pioneer lanyard around his neck. I looked further and he had a Pioneer avic in his car, but it wasn't hooked up to his dash, it sat in some type of compartment similar to those you see in cop cars. I asked him if that was the new avic line and he said yeah, he wouldn't tell me what model it was as he was tight lipped, but he did say it was suppose to be around 400-500. I asked if it was the new F-series and he said no, but the F series will be getting a new update. Nice guy, i should of followed him until he stopped and snapped some pictures
Can't wait to see what they have lined up.

nice...i think that unit must be the AVIC-Linc judging by the description...which is going to remain the same...but just in the north american market we are calling the new F series...the X-series 910 and 710 and the Z is Z110
If I have F900bt hooked up already, can I just swap it out for the newer unit? Will it use the same wiring harness? Thanks, looking forward to some updates.

Hey NIMZ I swear i seen the AVIC-Linc on the Canadian Pioneer site. http://www.pioneerelectronics.ca/POCEN/Products/Navigation/Portable+Navigation/AVIC-LINC
Oh I was wondering as well if you guys can ask Pioneer if the 2009 Map upgrades for the Z/N/D series are gonna look cartoonish like the F Series or the same as the previous maps AND are we gonna get some new XM Tuner upgrade that will supply NAV Weather for us Z/N/D series owners???

Not at this time.

The Z/N/D use completely different hardware/software, so no.
No XM Weather, only MSN Direct.
Well, it looks like the fixed most of the issues that they had with the F series. Couple questions:
- Is there any hardware upgrade in that new line?
- Is the new 3.0 update going to convert our 90BT into the X910?
BTW, you rock Jason!
Looks like I'll be buying the Z series. I'm about 70% sold on it ATM, need to see some screenshots and video first, which are on the way. I love the passenger iPod control, the return of the official branding icons, the custom menus and MOST of all the voice control over the nav software. I'll wait until 3.0 to make the final decision though.
Thanks for the coverage Jason!

Thanks Jason. Question for you (I posted some of these on the Flickr page but probably should have just kept them here):
1. Will the 3.0/maps update introduce all software features into the current F-series?
2. Did Pioneer explain exactly what kind of hardware updates were made (like CPU/GPU, RAM, etc)?
3. It's hard to tell which unit is the X910BT in the boot-up video. Though your 20-second comment on the Z110BT seems accurate, it appears that the other 2 had boot times on par with the current F-series. Is this an accurate observation?
4. Any word on iPhone 3GS compatibility? For that matter - did they fix the address book import bug where if you don't have your address book organized "just right" you would have problems?
Thanks for the videos and the reporting. It's truly appreciated amongst us techies!
Cheers!
The only question I had is something I would love to see (and I hope I didnt overlook with everything you already provided): is there going to be support to show album art and whatnot with MP3's (not off an iPod) using the id3 tag info?
Thanks!

1. From what I was told, yes.
2. The Z110BT has a 600mhz processor with a hardware 3D accelerator, that's all I know.
3. The X910BT is in the top left. The Z110BT is LIGHTNING quick... the X910BT is a little better then the F Series with the 2.0 update.
4. Yep, I was talking to one of the engineers and they said they specifically worked with Apple and the new units have some kind of authentication chip that verifies it's an "iPhone Accessory" you also no longer get the airplane mode popup.

Thanks! I might end up shifting from my F90BT to a Z110BT in the end. I just can't fathom paying for a new X910BT for just "a little better" speed improvement. Then again... I'm also one of those saps who blew $500+ USD on a 32GB iPhone 3GS just 3 months after picking up my 16GB 3G just for a projected 2X speed improvement in the OS.
*sigh*
It's an affliction, I know. ![]()
Will us F series owners be able to just download the map/FW update as soon as it is available and just pay on the spot, or will we have to order SD cards and wait for them to come in the mail.

It's going to be an SD Card.
What will be the differences between an updated F90BT and a new X910BT?

So will the new units MSN Direct features have the "Doppler Weather Maps" or just the Weather? Actually which features will it have and not have?
