Can you connect manually to mediafire.com?

yes

I just did it again. I wonder if it doesn't allow multiple downloads of the same file at the same time. The download count changed in the past couple of minutes.

Try this one: http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?nzbzmqjtyj1

It's the same except it doesn't say data.zip on the end of the address

this one worked, thanks, i'll give this a shot today

just got the trip comp working, what i did is created a button on the settings screen for the it, couple of question though since you have the experience dealing with it,

1) how do you save it (any buttons i have to press)?

2) is there a way for it not to start right away when i press the button i created and also for it not to start right away when the current trip is reset?

1) I can't figure out how to do scripts in order to save the data. I thought of trying to mimic the saved route scripts, but it's beyond my capabilities. Maybe someone with more knowledge for writing scripts can help.

2) Not that I know of.

The trip ui's are from an IGO zip. I searched throughout and couldn't find any references for saving trip comp info.

so when you said that the trip computer has memory you meant that it saves it somehow upon reboot?

still thinking of a way to have like a start button on the trip computer screen cause i don't like how when you click the tip computer all 3 trips start,

I also tried to incorporate this trip computer into my previous zip and I couldn't get it work. There's something special about Stanislavovich's zip that allowed it to take. Argh.....now I'm sorta ticked off at the time I spent six months ago trying to get it to work with my previous zip.

do you still have your previous data.zip? it took me 2 tries to get it working on my zip so i'm assuming that you just missed something like the two templates or the buttons,

The memory it has in the trip fields other than the active trip retains data. There is no option to save the data with a file name like you can with a planned route. To circumvent losing the data on the active trip, I just made the active trip one that had no data before shutting down. Don't forget I'm also using the blue boxes on the main navigate screen so the yours operates or remembers may be different.

I still have my old zip and what I put on this zip was on pulled off the other other one. I tried it three times again yesterday to no avail. I had to create the template add-ons, so there was no way I was forgetting those. And I did remember all the bmps too. I know I didn't overlook anything.

Stanislovich's is so much more advanced than what I had that I see no reason to go backwards.

A retained memory would be great, especially when I have to shut the car off for such things as filling the tank during a twelve hour drive. Losing the data kinda sucks.

As it is though, I still love the thing

Hey watkch01 - Don't any of your trips retain memory? Read above what I've been doing. It's a bit of a hassle, but does work. I adjusted my sys.txt so now I'm can have seven trips. I use one for the morning drive, one for the return trip and one for the weekends. The others are there in case I want to do individual trips to wherever.

This is what I did. My goal was to make a button to link directly to the TC from the map screen. To do so, I decided to replace the 2D/3D button with the link button. Not having this button meant I needed a new place for it, so I converted the compass (still the original round one) to the 2D/3D control. The script in the navigatemap_800_480 file is as follows:

;compass controlls 2d,3d

;trip computer

The compass ring bmps are just a perimeter circle the size of the compass with a transparent center so I didnt have to deal with layering things correctly. The trip comp bmp was posted earlier in the thread.

All three button images are zipped in here:

Nope, none of them. Every time I start the car, they would all reset. Ill have to try switching between trips when I shut down.

I dont have the trip comp on the map screen, only as its own window. Whether that has any impact on how it works or not I dont know

When I first put this in, it was remembering. Even after I updated the sys.txt it had remembered what was there. I drove with it to work on Tuesday and Wednesday, but I had it in standby during work so the info was still there when I got back in. I shut it off last night when I saw these posts and turned it back on a couple of hours ago. The info is GONE. I searched through every ui from several IGO zips that had trip computer ui's in them and couldn't find any thing pertaining to memory. I'm not a code writer so for all I know it's there and I don't know.

I'm sorry to have given everyone bad information. I'm at a loss and pretty frustrated right now. I was so used to the blue boxes on my screen, I think I'll keep them anyways.

If anyone who knows code can help us, please let us know. I'm willing to continue fiddling with it since I started this mess.

Did anyone own IGO 6 in the past that had a trip computer? If you did, do you remember if it retained the trip information after a re-boot?

I need another break.

Just checked the stats on the download of the zip from page one. Between the the original that was posted on May 31st and the revised one that was posted on 6/3 there have been 125 downloads. What are the other users experiencing?

I was wondering why this thread is only three people.

hey N-S-E-W

just wondering if you were able to use the dialog box that says the trip computer is just as accurate as your gps, i think that's a key for the trip computer to not start as soon as you turn the unit on,

I commented it out because it was throwing an error. Once you clicked okay it would go to the trip comp albeit without the message. Let me get the error back and see if it makes a difference.

it might be throwing an error message cause of a missing variable, i already tried adding the variable and still the message box don't show up, when i was playing with the igo 8.3 what i noticed was that trip computer won't start til the yes on the message box was clicked

Posted Jun 12, 2009 · 00:27 UTC#71

In variable.def.ui I added

Threw it in and got the message to show. No error. Now I need to test it to see if it remembers.

let me know how it goes

Posted Jun 12, 2009 · 01:01 UTC#73

just tried it and the message still doesn't show up

Posted Jun 12, 2009 · 01:13 UTC#74

It only came up one time. I rebooted three times since and it didn't come back on. It still doesn't remember, though. I'm going to remove the variable file and put it back in so I can take a snapshot. I think i'm going to change the message. Back in a bit.

well i guess it's a one time thing, when i used the igo 8.3 it did only ask me once, wonder if there's a way to have the variable set to 0 every reboot so that it would ask everytime, hhhmmm
