Ive read just about all the topics under the Z110BT forum and couldnt find much info on how fast the ipod interface is or how well it can control the ipod.

I bought the Z1 right wen it came out 2-3 years ago for my Scion tC and the ipod connection is just terribly slow. the only way i can cope with it is just make a playlist of my favorite songs instead of searching thru the ipod. Anyone can comment on this?

i dont know anything about the F series or anyhting and how well the ipod interface is so if the Z110 is modeled after that haha sorry for the question (maybe i should do more searching :( ).

TIA

It is spot on just as the F series is. It is nothing like the previous Z series.

I agree with the previous response. I have had no experience with the previous Z but this one ispretty much instant. Its fast and instant response when I press any button. Most of the time its quicker for me to find what I'm looking for using the buttons than the Voice commands.

sweet! so basically its like if i want an artist that starts with the letter R, it would get there pretty fast? cuz on my Z, it would take me like 10 minutes to get to the letter R. so i just forget searching and make my own playlist to listen off of.

kind of off topic, but i read that there are no more vehicle dynamics... kidna sucks..

not sure what you mean here - you can create playlists and use them as you would with the iPod - however, the interface is exactly the same as the ipods. Along the top are the rest of the tabs ie artist, album and genre - for some reason my pics are chopped off on this site - here could be better :)

The Z110BT is practically as fast a using the iPod itself. I have never seen a faster interface..PERIOD. I am amazed at how fast it moves through the iPod catalog.

I have an AVIC-D3 in my truck, and it is a HUGE improvement in all ways over the D3. I used to have to classify my Genres with the first letter of the artist so I could jump to artists by letter (say 'R'). The Z110BT has a built in shortcut facility for letters of the artist. Basically, you pull up artists, and you can scroll, or you can change the letter to A-Z (+123) and quickly jump to artists beginning with said selection.

It is bombdiggity.

Vehicle dynamics are gone, but I never used 'em anyhow, so I don't really care. The Z110 does have a gyro, and all the same sort of stuff that the D3 had, so they may add it to the software in the future.

if they do add it to the software in the future, can i upgrade to it? it doesnt have a hdd like the Z's so i dont know if it can upgrade at all

Not only does the 110 have a fast snappy ipod interface but you can talk to it as well. Makes searching for content much easier.

so i already placed an order for the z110, now im looking to buy the ipod cable. but i noticed that the X910 uses a different ipod cable (CD-IU230V) and the z110 uses (CD-IU50V). I cant tell the difference, anybody have wisdom on this?

thanks!

I can also confirm that the ipod interface is extremely quick. I was quite impressed.

WIth the AVIC Z100BT, you definitely need the CD-IU50V. I just installed mine this week - see the images on the General forum, viewtopic.php?f=56&t=26314&p=180158#p180158

They are not interchangeable. You will have to have the cable made for the 110 as the A/V connections for the cable are different then that the F/X series.

Posted Aug 09, 2009 · 04:25 UTC#19

a/v connections? i thought the ipod only has one plug..no?

Posted Aug 09, 2009 · 05:31 UTC#20

On the input end of the cable there is a USB connection and an 1/8 inch three band connector that handles the A/V. That cable plugs into another cable that has a proprietary multi pin plug that connects to the unit. The same end of the F/X series cable has RCA A/V connections that plug into the AV1 input on the unit.

ooooh now i see! thanks a bunch for the helpful replies! off to buy my ipod cable now lol

If you are only going to use the iPod for music and not video you can use the standard iPod USB cable and then plug a 3.5mm phono to phono (male on both ends) cable into the iPod and the Z110 (got mine at the dollar store). I bought an iPod nano yesterday and tried this and it works wonderfully, just make sure the volume is all the way up on the iPod b4 you connect it.

I am disappointed however that you need to hook up the audio jack at all, my FH=P800BT only needed the iPod USB cable.

Posted Sep 03, 2009 · 00:34 UTC#23

I thought I had this figured out but you guys have now succeeded in confusing me. My Z110BT is on order and I'm trying to figure out if I need the CD-IU50V. I don't plan on watching video from the ipod - only music (and album art if it will do it). But I do want to control the ipod from the Z110.

So, do I need this special cable or can I just use the USB cable that came with the ipod?

Posted Sep 03, 2009 · 03:52 UTC#24

Not without an audio cable. The USB cable that comes with the ipod will only offer you control of the ipod. You still need an audio cable to get the signal into the unit. You could try what the last person said, but at that point, why not just get the appropriate cable. Your buying a 1600 dollar unit, whats another 50 bucks?
