I was able to bring in NSEW's latest version of the trip computer into the 3.01 setup. I can't take any credit for it, bt it's a combination of NSEW's trip computer on the navigation (w/ the buttons working to go to the large view/etc) and a different mod from mikeinnj that has mute/off/ and 4 shortcuts along the top.

I need to figure out how to upload that large of a file (it says 2 MB max) though...

can you post any snapshots? just curious as to what the changes look like visually. im sure others would appreciate as well

Great suggestion - here are some shots of it.

I need to play w/ the location some - it's below the radio/street name area now..but still readable/usable.

Thx,

Ben

Awesome!! Now we know that works. Where's the text for the blue boxes? Did you add an on/off button for the blue boxes?

Good job.

Good job.

wow - I didn't even notice the text was missing. I'll have to look into it (think I included it from the navigatemap_800_480.ui file) Wonder if it's a font issue - probably not..I'll look into it.

Adding the on/off for the boxes was one of my next steps in the settings area.

Thanks again for all the help!

Added on/off buttons real quick. The only issue right now is the label not showing up and the buttons being over the radio/street name. Feel free to use or wait.

Attached are some pictures of the settings and w/ it on/off

The lack of text on the bottom of the boxes is baffling. I looked through your files and the only thing I can think of is that maybe the bottom limits could have changed between versions, unlikely but you never know. I'm just taking a stab here as all the code is a straight copy over, try to change the valign from bottom to center or top on a couple of the code lines. Say for instance the txtTCA, txtTCB, txt1CA, txt1TCB code lines. I'd hate to ask you to move y value up since that'll require changes in the scripts800_480.ui.

I hope this winds up being a simple fix and we can learn a bit more about 8.3.

EDIT******8/4/09

On second thought if you didn't do as suggested above...don't, try removing the visible model from a couple of the text lines and see what happens. I think that may be a better way to approach it for now.

Thanks for looking into this. I'll try that change and see what happens. I also made it so that it had a shortcut icon like this when the blue buttons are gone. That way it's a single small button to just to the trip computer screen still.

I am working on juust making it in/out of the bounds on the inverse settings of the blue boxes in the script ui file.

Thanks - I will keep you posted,

Ben

Pretty addicting isn't it? Can also be pretty frustrating at times.

Updated link:

This contains a button that shows up when you hide the blue buttons. It's in the screenshot on the right. This button shows both during navigation and not.

NSEW is helping me w/ the button issue --> going to hopefully post an update in another day or so, so feel free to wait (but no promises)

Thanks,

Ben

If it really is this easy to make it work on 3.X I might just have to update. Though I see no real reason to

Posted Aug 06, 2009 · 01:58 UTC#13

I'm running out of ideas - not sure if anybody else does.

I can't get the labels to show up for the trip blue buttons:

The text: AVG SPEED doesn't show up. The button works and the text shows up for the variable. Just not the text under it.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Ben

Got that last issue resolved (Thanks to Borris and NSEW).

All issues worked out - last one was the formatmodel tags in the text. I think I am done w/ it for now...

Screenshots are the same as above, but now it says the text for the blue boxes when they are shown.

Thanks,

Ben

Good job Ben.

So when you removed formatmodel=1 it worked? Hmmm... need to put that one in memory bank for future mods..

My SD cards for 3.0 came yesterday and I installed it while the server was down. I really didn't want to but I wanted to solve this. I guess I will start playing with my old new nav unit. Damn, there's a ton to add. It's so plain right now.

DO you mind telling us the different lines of code so that I can adapt this to my current Data.zip (IDT_3.0) ?

Thanx,

Bud

I'll write something up the next couple of days - though it looks like IDT was quick to bring it into his next release. His mod is great and I'm excited to see the future ones he produces...

Thanx, Ben!

EDIT: I should mention - that NSEW and others get most of the credit here. I just brought it into a mod I was working on.

I'll try to capture everything that I did.

1. copy two trip computer ui files from the common/ui and the 800_480/ui directories

2. modify the 800_480/ui/main.ui file and add the imports to the end of their respective sections (the 800_480 one at the end of that chunk and the common at the end of the common chunk).

3. Modify the 800_480/ui/scripts_800_480.ui file to have the following:

4. make sure you copy over all the necessary bmp files. I believe they are:

800_480\BTN_PREV1.bmp#3 & BTN_PREV1.SPR
800_480\BTN_NEXT1.bmp#3 & BTN_NEXT1.SPR
800_480\tripcompu_bg.bmp
800_480\ico_tripcompu_speed.bmp
800_480\ico_tripcompu_time.bmp
800_480\ico_tripcompu_other.bmp
800_480\tripselected.bmp
800_480\tripcompmapicon.bmp

5. modify the navigate_800_480.ui to have the button and/or the button blue bottons:

; Trip Computer icon

and:

;*******trip comp N-S-E-W version with route*******

visiblemodel="navigation.distance_to_manuver.valid" onrelease='run sc_tripreset_confirm' usefocus=0
onclick='playsound "!sectionbeepB"' USE_SEPARATED_SAFETY_MODE=0>

visiblemodel="navigation.distance_to_manuver.valid" onrelease='nextstate ST_TRIPCOMPUTER' enabledmodel="!ui.vOnFlyover" USE_SEPARATED_SAFETY_MODE=0>

visiblemodel="navigation.distance_to_manuver.valid" onrelease='other.tripcomputer.prev_trip, run sc_trippageinfo' usefocus=0 USE_SEPARATED_SAFETY_MODE=0>

visiblemodel="navigation.distance_to_manuver.valid" onrelease='other.tripcomputer.next_trip, run sc_trippageinfo' usefocus=0 USE_SEPARATED_SAFETY_MODE=0>

visiblemodel="navigation.distance_to_manuver.valid" onrelease='other.tripcomputer.pause_current'
onclick='playsound "!sectionstartB"' USE_SEPARATED_SAFETY_MODE=0>

visiblemodel="navigation.distance_to_manuver.valid" onrelease='other.tripcomputer.pause_current' onclick='playsound "!sectionstartA"' USE_SEPARATED_SAFETY_MODE=0>

;*****N-S-E-W's trip comp - no route*****

visiblemodel="!navigation.distance_to_manuver.valid" onrelease='run sc_tripreset_confirm' usefocus=0
onclick='playsound "!sectionbeepB"' USE_SEPARATED_SAFETY_MODE=0>
visiblemodel="!navigation.distance_to_manuver.valid">

visiblemodel="!navigation.distance_to_manuver.valid" onrelease='nextstate ST_TRIPCOMPUTER' enabledmodel="!ui.vOnFlyover" USE_SEPARATED_SAFETY_MODE=0>

visiblemodel="!navigation.distance_to_manuver.valid" onrelease='other.tripcomputer.prev_trip, run sc_trippageinfo' usefocus=0 USE_SEPARATED_SAFETY_MODE=0>

visiblemodel="!navigation.distance_to_manuver.valid" onrelease='other.tripcomputer.next_trip, run sc_trippageinfo' usefocus=0 USE_SEPARATED_SAFETY_MODE=0>
visiblemodel="!navigation.distance_to_manuver.valid">

visiblemodel="!navigation.distance_to_manuver.valid" onrelease='other.tripcomputer.pause_current'
onclick='playsound "!sectionstartB"' USE_SEPARATED_SAFETY_MODE=0>

visiblemodel="!navigation.distance_to_manuver.valid" onrelease='other.tripcomputer.pause_current'
onclick='playsound "!sectionstartA"' USE_SEPARATED_SAFETY_MODE=0>

;************ END no route ***********

6. Add the variable in the common/ui/variable_def.ui

7. Add the setting in the 800_480/ui/setting_800_480.ui

.. AT THE END OF THIS LAYER...

Nice write up Ben.

I want to add that if you are using the on screen button Ben created you probably want to comment out the first script in both the route and no route section. Otherwise add the tripcompbtn.bmp to the common folder. This bmp is invisible when installed and is the same location as the MAX SPEED box.

;*******trip comp N-S-E-W version with route*******

Be sure to keep a copy of your current usable data.zip before altering with this. It's very easy to forget something and you won't get past the start up screen if you do.

IDT - If you're reading this you'd want to change out your tripselected.bmp with the one in here or my mod pack. It has longer arms on it that's more in tune with our screen resolution.

Some really good points (and actually I hadn't removed that hidden button yet, though I think you've reminded me of it before).

Thanks,

Ben

Thanks Ben! I had been trying to get this added in to Keepers config. I had gotten EVERYTHING but the damn variable.ui file addition. Thanks for the great writeup! I will post when I get it working (citing your great work of course).

I got it to work but I get this in the map settings:

..so, I had to comment out the "Full Screen Map" lines above it in the setting_800_480.ui file:
