Hi,

Im interested in purchasing a AVIC-F900BT but dont like the Australian price tag associated with it. I can purchase the US version for half the price and get it shipped over but have been notified that they are region specific and that I would be unable to update the GPS maps for Australia. The other thing i was worried about was using SUNA. In America it seems u use the MSN Direct system although I'm not sure if they're the same thing or different

Is there any possible way to reflash the unit with Australian firmware for use over here?

i have purchased US version and i can get aus maps to work, however when aus maps are running the bluetooth doesnt work..

it is a bit annoying and i havent been able to find a decent solution.

what i do is put both aus maps and us maps on. when i want maps i go into testmode and load aus maps and sacrifice bluetooth and swicth back when i dont need maps.

did you end up finding the posts about the eu version i cant seem to find it... if you found it a link would be appreciated.

Yeah I didn't find any thing either. Apparently there was "millions of them". Im just going to purchase an AU version so save me the hassle of it all.

Look in the Australian Map Update Thread.

Add the Version30.1 Update and then the map update over the top

Change your model back to the US one in SYS.TXT

Everything should work except TMC

UPDATE!!! hehe

you were right the problem was the device type. i had used your v3 update already hence the reason why it was set to eu to begin with. just went to sys.txt and changed last 2 digits to "UC" and everything apart from tmc works.

tmc is not such a biggie for me so im not upset at all. i dont blv the tmc is worth the extra 800 bucks i would have spent on an aus unit.

Testing 16.2 Maps (Read the Oz Map thread)

Working on an Oz Skin and data zip but you wont get the extra TMC stuff as your unit does not have the TMC Tuner

Well I might actually do the same. Was it hard to do the update? If I'm going to buy a US version i wanna make sure Im doing the update right. Do i have to update to version 3 firmware before the update? Also if i ever want to update maps in the future will it be as simple as changing the maps or will i have to use another hacked update? I don't really want TMC for the 800 bucks. I may as well spend it on better speakers or something like that

Maps are just the files loaded in the apl2/content/ directories. You can have as many as you like. Each set of maps has a license file. My update has the license files for all areas. So if you plan to ship your car back to the US you can leave the us maps in place. The other part is the changes in the /apl folder to stop the driver warnings.

Remember at any time you can put the oem files back or restore your backup

Ok thanks heaps mate. I might talk to u a bit more about the entire thing when my unit arrives. I just bought a US one... does that mean ill have voice recognition in this unit as well unlike the australian version? Thats something that will come in very handy

Yes you will have VR but no TMC.

Btw if you have V2 Firmware you can update that too using my V2 Updates, again links i the OZ Map thread.

Speaking VR can either of you send me your Backup, prior to applying the updates. That will give me a chance to work on VR for OZ units

Yeah i can do that for sure. I just ordered mine today. Im just wondering about ur update. Do i need to update everthing ur included. I mean data.zip and stuff? Which parts of you australian map update will i need to update onto my US unit?

Does that also include POI for australia?

Just follow the instructions in the OZ map thread. All the items are listed there, but yes it does have the new POI's, speedcams maps ect. as well as the testmode

Simplified follow the instructions post in the OZ map thread but,

extract to sd

boot test mode

backup unit

edit sys.txt

copy over the files on your unit

delete the user data files

The only changes you need are to alter the sys.txt to correct your model id

Ok cheers. Do you recommend updating to Version 3 firmware first and using ur V3 update package? does V3 have a faster boot time to that of V2? Also because msn direct wont be working do you reckon it would be possible to hack it so that the button doesnt appea

i havent got the original one but i have got the v3 firmware which i downloaded off one of the topics....

the file is for the x910bt but it worked on mine... will this be fine??

Did you download the hacked version that doesnt require authentication mackay? I was thinking of using that but i may just stick with v2 for now

i just brought a f90bt us model off ebay, alhough i cannot get it to boot to windows so i can put the aus maps on. i followed the instruction in the 1st page in the oz update thread, first i got the firmware Https://www.pioneer.com.au/avicf900btDownload.aspx and installed this to my avic from my sd it worked fine. next i put the files i extracted from

http://www.4shared.com/file/95577170/2d ... part3.html it gave me the 5 files mitacap,backup, testmode, readme, update. i put these on my sd card. i put it in the sd slot, turn the car on and it just keeps going in to the main screen and doing nothing, i tried several times, and didnt work. then i restored my avic back 2 original factory settings hoping maybe that was a problem, and tryed to boot with the sd card and it just went straight to the main screen again. i have no clue as to what im doing wrong. is all i want my system to do is function with the gps music and all other standard features. could somebody body please tell me what i am doing wrong? or if any1 has enough time maybe a detailed message on how to get the system functioning correctly like as if i purchased it from a shop in au.

map vers: 01.000800

vers: 2.009000 seems to be v2 firmware, this is all us version.

I downloaded

all 3 and extracted them to sd put it in avic, still boots normally without going into test mode. any idea?.

Have you altered the sys.txt yet?

The update was made for OZ models so you will have to change the device line back to your model. Check your backup and look in the sys.txt for your model. the Oz f700,F900 and F90 is "PIONEER746EW" yours is more than likely the "PIONEER746UC"

Make sure you have all all of the lang and voice files.

Again check your backup, copy any missing files from apl2\igo\content\lang and apl2\igo\content\voice from your backup onto your avic
