Hmm, my June 06 unit inverted before the update, and still inverts after it. This is new for you?

I assume you mean how the normally white areas become black, in addition to other differences that I can't recall at the moment.

The map did, but the AV (CD, Sat, iPod, etc) did not. The map did invert but the AV screens just dimmed.... at least that what I seem to remember. And the AV screens now don't invert, but they change their color scheme I think to something more "night like". If it wasn't for zeros' post I would have thought I was going crazy.

Hey ttkresurfacing,

I just updated my Z1 last night with the disc and it worked fine. And I downloaded the software from this website. Why don't you call me this evening (Wed) at around 7:00 PM EST and I'll walk you through it all. I had similar problems at first but it wasn't the burned disk. My number is 419-293-9687. If you can't get me at that number, call my cell at 419-722-2103. Also, I have digital phone so I don't pay for long distance, so when you call, we can hang up and I'll call you right back to save you the bill.

Also, in the future when buying your disks, try to find Sony brand disks. They are the most reliable discs I have ever used.

Cheers,

Kevin

By the way, for those who still have the phone echo probem, I eliminated all of my echo problems last night. I called my mom and talked to her for about 1/2 hour for the purpose of finding the best position for the mic and the best phone voice volume level. And of course for the purpose of just talking to mom. Anyway, I discovered that the optimum placement for the microphone was up high on the trim panel above my driver side door, near my head and aiming the mic straight up in the air towards the headliner. My party now hears me perfectly clear and gets no echo on their end whatsoever. And my phone voice volume is set to 3/4 of the way up, so i can hear my party just fine. Hey, that's what mom's are for right? THANKS MOM!

hey,

if i DO NOT have the flasher circuit installed on my Z1 and install the bluetooth update cd, will i have problems???

do problems only occur if you have the flasher circui installed?

thanks,

chum

Posted Jan 11, 2007 · 15:45 UTC#179

problems? think your confused. the update and the flasher are not really related other then how they work. they dont cause each other problems with or without it. if you install the bluetooth update you for sure wont need the flash. the update corrects the echo problem a bit and a few little things such as the way the bypass needs to be done

Hello guys,

I'm new to this forum, I have just read the 12 pages worth of talk you guys have here! I just wanted to get 1 thing straight about this whole Bluetooth issue, sometimes I'd get confused on which volume exactly to change. I'm getting my Z1 tomorrow along with all these accessories! Can't wait!

So anyways, my question is: I have a Treo 700p and I'm wondering which volume control do I have to lower before I pair it with the Z1. There is regular phone volume and the ear piece volume. I assume it's the ear piece volume correct?

Do I lower it as LOW as possible, like at 0, pair the phone, and then work with the Z1 Volume? I'm assuming that the regular listening volume of the set will be untouched...

I'm think my unit will come with the update already but we'll see..

Thanks in advance!

you could lower all volumes, but I believe its the bluetooth profile volume you would want to lower on the phone. enjoy

ducatiboy,

(I have a question about you Post from: Mon Dec 04, 2006 6:39 pm Quoted below)

How do I know if I have a June 06 or older Z1? I would like to put the update but dont want anything to get screwed up.

Just a note. If you have a June 06 and older Z1 and you do this fix my flasher will no longer work. It upgrades the Z1's to the July 06 and later bypass.

AGAIN.... If you install this CD, my flasher circuit will no longer bypass the Z1. You will need to use the 07/06 Bypass (2 wire ground) listed here:

http://www.sminntech.com/z1flash.html

If you choose to install this CD.

You install this update AT YOUR OWN RISK!

You can continue to read through this thread for my problem I had installing this CD if you wish. I had problems. And I don't want any of you surprised to find out your flasher bypass no longer works.

I would recommend that you try the non-update first:

http://avic411.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2450

Turn your cell phone speaker volume down to it's lowest setting (not the ringer volume, but the ear piece volume) before pairing your phone to the Z1. If it's already paired, you need to do a level 3 reset to get rid of your phone (see the manual for the level/mode 3 reset procedures and what you will keep and lose) before repairing it. This worked very well for me but not quite as well as the update.

It will say the manufacturing date on your Z1 or on the box near the serial number

So I did the update to my june 06 Z1 and the echo has subsided quite a bit and the callers voice level can be increased significantly but my callers complain continually about my volume (they cant hear me very well)

so I called pioneer and they told me to relocate the BT1 adapter so I did and it is no different . I also have tried the mic in the overhead on the pillar on the visor ,stuffed in my mouth  and the speaker from both right and left and right left and I find the left is the least echo for the caller as for mic position 4 inches from my face is a acceptable level to the listener but that mic is not designed to be that close and holding it there doesnt constitute hands free  .

I also notice one call to the next the volumes vary so Im trying a different phone for a few days but it seems to be the same

I am using a IPAQ 6325 in a Honda Element 2006 any ideas would be great

also the flasher bypass did not work after the update but the wire switcharoo in the connector fixed everyhting up nice and it is bypassed once again

I wonder if anyone really has the bluetooth working well

The update definitely is a improvement over what it was

THX everyone

I just got my Z1 installed this morning, installer did bypass for new units. It did not work, I downloaded and installed update cd, update went smooth. Connected my Blackberry and bypass works. Thanks to all post on this, new user but I like the Z1 already. The post about being in Map view helped also, that was where I was when installed CD. Next I will get back up cameras one in tool box and one in rear plate, I will get installer to run cables to center console and have switch to choose bed or rear camera, make it easier to hook uf goose neck trailer.

I have two Z1s in both my MBenz....one with the Ducatiboy flasher unit and the other with the ground method...Bluetooth on both that I hardly ever use for the all the above reasons.

I periodically check the site to see if I can learn anything and of course i did again...Thanks to all.

After wasting four CDs trying to burn the ISO file...I finally got it by double-clicking on the file and my DVD Decrypter open. I click the icon for burn to DVD (with a regular CD in the drive) and it worked. I loaded it onto the Z1 like the instructions posted, after doing the level 3 reset.

I haven't updated the one with the DB flasher yet. I'm going to do the hard wire first then run the BT update...(unless someone here tells me otherwise).

Man, that was some reading last night. Took a while starting at the first post all the way to page 13, plus clicking on all the related links. First, Thanks guys for all the testing. Second, reading first does answer many questions so that the poster don't have to repeat themselves and reply to issues already covered....

DLed the file and burned ISO Level 1 and the Z1 recognized a CD-ROM was in there, but just sat there for a good 2-3 minutes and did nothing. Does this mean I already have the BT update? I hope not, b/c the echo plagues me.

Thanks ducatiboy for all your help.

I would like to report that I got the Bluetooth setup that is flawless with no echo and the callers can hear me great as well.

Hope this helps.

Mic placement.

Used the disc provided by Pioneer

CIMG0157.jpg

Also I have a pre july 06 unit.

1)So bypassed the unit first with the 2 wire grounding, updated using the disc.

2)then did a hard reset,

3)lowered the listening volume down to 0 on my phone before the initial pairing and registration.

My phone is Motorola L2

I hope this helps anyone because I have no echo at all. My volume was turned up very loud at 5/6 bars. Have the sound coming out of both L&R speakers and I had no echo but I reduced it because it was too loud for me.

If anyone wants to borrow my Factory update disc, please PM me! Because I had no problems at all.

I didn't get a chance to try it until yesterday. It didn't do anything to hit map. :(

OK, once you insert the update CD you need to hit MAP to do the update. If that didn't work for you then there are 1 of 2 options, a problem with the burned disk or the unit is already updated (which generally says that the update has already been performed). So that and the fact you say the echo is bad, I assume it's an older October and before Z1 and that it hasn't been loaded.

So there is a problem with the burn. Could be:

Brand of disk

Speed of burn

CD vs DVD (some have had better luck burning the image to a DVD instead of a cd)

Download of the iso

Program you used to burn it with

So I would say your choices are:

1. Call pioneer and have them send you a disk for free.

2. PM one of the members here with one and see if they would mail it to you.

3. Try different burning options (I seem to remember some people having no luck with burned cd's had better luck with a burned dvd). Speed of burning and brand of media might also make a difference.

Posted Feb 20, 2007 · 19:00 UTC#194

Got it, thanks. I will try several different methods of burning (speed, etc) and see if that is it. I used the same discs and burning speed/program as the Gracenote Database update and that worked. I will try a few others though.

That's pretty weird. If you want, extract the iso into files and then burn the files. I use winrar, but I think you can use things like alcohol, magiciso, isobuster, etc. Take all those files put them in a directory and then burn a cd with those files and give that a shot.

Posted Feb 20, 2007 · 23:48 UTC#196

XP actually has an extractor. I always unzip DLed folders just in case.

When you had the iso file, you used that to burn the disk, you didn't burn a disk with that file on it did you? When you stick that disk into the computer do you see 100's of files? Or is it just the single ISO file?

And when I said to extract the files.... I did not mean the zip file you downloaded, once you unzip the file, take the iso and extract the files in that into a directory and then burn those files with nero or whatever, sometimes that method works better for people.

Posted Feb 21, 2007 · 00:10 UTC#198

Well then. I was confused. I was talking about just the single ISO file. I burned that to a disc. So that must be why it isn't working. So I will have to extract all the files from that 1 ISO file then.

No actually you can open a burning program and tell it to burn image and then select that image. And it will create a cd with a ton of files on it with all the correct settings from that iso file.

Or you can extract the iso further into it's separate files and burn all those.

If your disk has one file and it's *.iso, then that's your problem. Read this post:

I got it. My z1 is already updated, so I will have to go back to the drawing board.
