Ldata is maps, sdata is system software. They both need to be upgraded. Please upgrade the sdata and report back. Thanks.

garrettoomey,

Thank you very much for the files and info. I use a different computer to download the files and updated without problems. Again, I thank you...

garrettoomey,

On your service info screen, what are the last four digits of your unit number? I'm just curious as to whether or not everybody who restores the image will end up with the donor's unit number or if it retains it's unique unit number. The reason I ask is because I'm going to be sending my Z1 for repairs soon and I don't know if Pioneer will check to see if the unit number corresponds with the serial number.

Unit number is not stored on the hdd, it is stored on internal ROM.

Garrett,

I did this procedure back in 08 on my than virgin Z1....All went well...Do we have to follow the same procedures on a drive we previously unlocked, or can we cut straight to the case, hook up the drive and Acronis the image right on....

Thanks....for your expected reply!

Yes, if your drive is already unlocked, you can go straight to Acronis and skip the previous steps.

Is there any other programs that i can use fr unlocking the hdd? Reason i ask is because hdd unlock isnt supported on 64 bit os and A FF Repair Station i cant afford atm. Thanks

hdd_unlock and repair station are the only options that I know about to work on the avic hdds.

After lurking for a long time I took the plunge and ordered Garrett's new Z3 upgrade hard drive for my Z2.

My feedback for those thinking about it...do it

1) reasonable price for the upgrade

2) FAST shipping from Garrett (less than 7 days INCLUDING border crossing into Canada...that's faster than most retail ordering I do!)

3) plug and play

I'm really enjoying the new maps and software. In my area it made a huge difference.

Thanks Garrett!

The funny thing is that I did this twice already but for some reason the new version of Acronis is confusing. I can get it t recover. I can mount the drive but when I go to perform a recovery it only sees the computer hard drive. My drive is un-locked. Any suggestions

When I go to recover the drive and it ask me to choose my recovery destination I only see my laptop hard drive

When upgrading the z2 to the z3 firmware, does the graphics look different on the screen???

Just wondering as I am thinking about doing this upgrade.

NICE! It's great to see trhe 2010 image online, I just wish someone would have PM'd or emailed so I can start seeing my servers. They're starting up now, hopefully it's not too little too late.

Thank you 98.116.47.*! I was only pulling down 100KB/Sec until you started seeding again, pulling down 2.8MB/Sec. I should be finished in no time!

Come on now guys I know someone can help me. If not does anyone happen to have an older edition of Acronis?

Can you see the avic hdd in windows explorer? If not, then windows does not see the hdd, and neither will Acronis (regardless of the version).

There are 4 seeders in the swarm as I type this, check your settings.

Hey,

sorry If I ask again but, is it useless if I install this image on my avic hd3? Im from germany, so the US maps wont be the right thing for me. I dont know if this are the US Maps or Europe or something else.

Hi Garret

I followed all instructions but did not disable hard drive locking.

Acronis 2010 did a successful restore of 4 partions, LDAT,SDAT,MSV,USER AND THE MBR. closed Acronis and then immediately Windows XP saw the 4 partions.

Shutdown computer and installed it in my Z2 - music comes on but screen freezes at text "cannot use hard drive"

Of course now the hard drive is locked again and , without doing another unlock, XP and Acronis does not see the drive.

Did a check with HDD Unlock Wizard and yes it's locked. Should I do another unlock to see anything

Any ideas?

Thanks

Steve

I would suggest reseating the drive to see if it makes a difference. If you need to try again, I highly recommend disabling the security. You will want to upgrade every year anyway...

Posted Sep 19, 2010 · 22:01 UTC#49

I did pull it out of the Z2 and reinstalled twice now but the text still says "cannot use hdd" in three languages.

I guess I will unlock it again, does the unlock remove all the data? it says that it does in the warning.

Next time I will does ths disable.

Thanks

Steve

Yes, it will delete everything from the drive.
