The new 130BT does have a different A/V harness than the old.

Ground the brake, and move the mute wire up one in the harness, ground it, and its good to go! Did mine tonight and drove home with Netflix working fine.

I'm mentally challenged. :P

Do you have pics. of the procedure (like pictures of the wire where it originally was and another picture where it has been placed in the correct spot for the bypass)?

It looks like the wiring harnes on the 130 is different than the one on the 120 and 110. Where exactly is the mute wire moved to? The positioning of this wire is on the bottom left row, second from the end.

O = Open spot, X = Mute wire, and w = other wires.

Here is a what the factory harness looks like:

oowwwwwwwwww

oXwwwwwwwwww

Thanks in advance for your help!

Found it on YouTube...

by searching pioneer z130bt bypass

I guess I am just trying to make this more confusing than it needs to be. Thanks all.

I did it on my Z130 and had no problems. Be veryyy veryyy careful when removing the pin. Do not rush it or force it or else you will break it!

If I have an extra harness that I can pull a wire and pin from. Can I add the wire to the new slot and still use the existing wire that I believe is the mute wire?

Yes, and that is the recommended way it you have an external system like OnStar.

How do you go about getting an extra wire if you decide to keep the mute wire in place? I have OnStar services and no extra harness to get a wire from.

The problem is finding extra pins that are compatible with the connector. They aren't sold at Radio Shack. And even if you can find a vendor, you can't just buy a couple. I think you needed to buy in bulk. One member was selling wires from an extra harness. I guess you could buy one and could part-it out. The wire color doesn't matter. You could sell all the pin/wires over time - but would it gross enough to pay the cost and justify the effort?

I used a needle nose to pull it out while lifting the plastic cap on the harness with a mini flat head and sharp knife; be careful not to cut yourself. This seem to do the trick and took less than 5 minutes, don't rush!

I am looking to buy up to 3 single wires that would fit in the bypass location for the Z130BT. I broke mine and need to get a replacement. Please message me if you have some extra wires from a harness you purchased.

I would like to buy an extra wire and pin as well, for those who have extra wires that can fit in this harness please inbox me.

Hi All,

Looks like a fairly simple bypass. Call me stupid, but can you tell me if I have to buy each wire adaptor? Or does it come with the unit itself?

Secondly, I had an AVIC Z-2 that was bypassed. My truck was broken into and the jerk stole the unit. Can I reuse the adapters? Or will I need new ones for the Z130BT?

The HU comes with its necessary wiring harnesses that plug in to the back of the unit. These are model specific and are different than the Z2. An "adapter" would be used to interface with your vehicle's factory radio harness. The Pioneer harness would connect to this, rather than cutting and splicing your factory wiring. If you had (and still have - after the jerk) an adapter for your vehicle, you will need to cut/splice the new HU harness to the adapter wires. You'll still need to connect things like VSS, PB, B/U, ILL that may not be part of the factory radio harness.

Does anyone have a picture of the connector you move? I broke mine, and couldn't pull that one out - so I need a new pin. While I have a million different pins at work - I need to know what it looks like to grab a smattering of em...

TIA...

Thanks for the help! This clarifies it quite simply.

Is this something I should disconnect the battery for? Or is the car of just as simple?

Posted Oct 31, 2011 · 19:11 UTC#20

Just an FYI - the pin is really a bitch to move... I broke it in the process of moving it (thankfully a local EBayer sells the harness for $40).

Called a local car stereo shop, best $10 I've spent :-P they did it in like 60 seconds...

Ok...call me stupid...After I connect the yellow mute wire, the parking brake wire, and the ground together, do they still need to be grounded to somewhere metal on the truck? Or by putting them together, and attaching a connector to it, that suffices for it being "grounded"?

Posted Jan 31, 2012 · 00:32 UTC#24

^^^^^^^^

You connect all 3 of those wires together, and it gets connected to the black ground wire of the vehicle. So 4 wires are involved. The 3 from the unit, and 1 from the vehicle.

Makes perfect sense...Thus the connector that has an open end on it (in the video..)...

Thanks!
