Find a local Pioneer dealer that will let you put a deposit on one

a little hint

ask if the dealer is a pioneer "direct" dealer or does he get it from a distributor. Direct dealers get product first(by a couple of days).

I run a Metro NY Home audio/Video installation company, and pre ordered a D3 for myself (even sold my D2 on ebay while they were still worth good money) and I was told by the Car Audio Buyer that the unit should be in to them mid-February. Their internal website says "Coming March" so i'll bet we will see them late february, early march.

The comment someone made about the CD being obselete is totally true. With an iPod direct cable, and better control and info, this unit will be the one to beat. My only hope for an enhancement (other than all I read) would be a qwerty layout on the screenm I know my alphabet, but would prefer qwerty.

I still wish Pioneer would up the pre-out voltage from 2v nominal to 4v or higher... That's the only place Pioneer went backward in technology rather than forward.

do you guys really think that a pre-order on the D3 is going to be necessary? I mean, it isn't like a limited number of them are going to be made or anything like that. The other models seemed to be very readily available for extended periods of time until they were taken off the market by Pioneer.

Is the D3 going to be in that high of a demand that you aren't going to be able to get your hands on one if you don't pre-order it?

yes. not to mention that the first shipment will be small

Posted Jan 29, 2007 · 01:28 UTC#35

If you need one from the first shipment, yeah, deposit couldn't hurt. ;)

Think its possible to pre-order this unit at a larger chain store? Like Best Buy or something? Because I cant find any authorized dealers locally... which is strange.

Posted Jan 29, 2007 · 15:12 UTC#37

were are you in fl?

Posted Jan 29, 2007 · 15:22 UTC#38

Palm Beach County.

I've been looking at Best Buy and Brands Mart USA. Sound Advice is close-by but way too expensive, they'll charge me full MSRP.

Posted Jan 29, 2007 · 15:51 UTC#39

Yeah, I wouldn't pay full MSRP either... I'd try the yelllowpages under car audio/stereo. Most of the dealers should carry Pioneer, even if they're not on the Pioneer site.

I found a local dealer today, he spoke with 2 of his distributors. One said March and the other said a couple of weeks. So we'll see. I'm going tomorrow to put down my deposit. :)

Posted Jan 30, 2007 · 21:58 UTC#43

Still dunno how accurate this info is, but my retailer called just now (where I placed a deposit a week or so ago) and said that my D3 was in route to the store...

I'll keep you posted.

Posted Jan 30, 2007 · 22:28 UTC#44

At what price is he selling it...?

Posted Jan 30, 2007 · 23:25 UTC#45

Is it really that necessary to put down deposit like for "Playstation 3, Xbox 360" ?

I mean, is it ganna be big line-up for AVIC-D3 ?

Not sure for USA, but for where I live, Vancouver Canada. There ain't even that many ppl mod with aftermarket 2-DIN navi. Most of them go for muti-media system(none-navi).

I guess it's easier to purchase cheaper D3 in USA rather than in Canada cuz D2 is around $1999 CAD here.

$800

if the store has the D3 sometime next week, i want one as well
