iOS automatically kills applications that run in the background for too long. I tried implementing some code that bypasses this restriction but it sounds like it's not holding on your devices.

Can you try opening Info.plist inside of the AppRadio app bundle and add audio to UIBackgroundModes? You can use iFile to modify the file on your device.

It should look like this:

<key>UIBackgroundModes</key>
<array>
    <string>external-accessory</string>
    <string>audio</string>
</array>

I've reinstalled the music controls pro 6 app from cydia and have selected the appradio app for video backgrounding and it stays open in the background without closing after 30 seconds like it was doing before I reinstalled the mc pro 6 app.

Hope this helps..

I cant get it to function on my iPhone 5 anymore. No touch and I can't get into mirror mode unless I go into the car media player and exit. Only works once then a black screen.

Can I go back to beta 8. Worked pretty well before.

Mike can you point me in the right direction to get to the appradio app bundle in ifile?

I'm not to familiar with using ifile.

I'm adding proper support for MCP in the next release (so they don't conflict). If it see's MCP, it will disable my backgrounding.

Use the link in the first post and change Beta9 to Beta8.

In the iFile settings, turn on Application Names.

Navigate to /var/mobile/Applications and find AppRadio.

Open the AppRadio.app folder and look for Info.plist.

So Mike should I leave MCP installed until you come up with a solution for the issue so that I can continue to use appexstensions without the appradio app closing after 30 seconds?

Ok Mike I added audio to UIBackgroundModes like you said through ifile, what should I do next?

Reboot and test. If this doesn't help, I'll have to see what I can do in the code.

So remove MCP first then reboot and test?

Yes.

Is the AppRadio app crashing after 30 seconds for anyone else? I'm trying to figure out if the results are mixed or if everyone is seeing the issue.

Seemed to work fine for me on the ride into work this morning, for probably 10 minutes. Most of my weekly trips are under 15 minutes though so that's gonna be the extent of my testing for a while. :P

Touch support works now (iPhone 5 in combination with AVH-X8500BT) but only the first 20 seconds after starting an app.
If I touch the screen, the touch point on the iPhone is different.
Like tomtom, if i touch Navigate to ... (1st option) then i select Route options (2nd option).
Is there a possibility to synchronizing this?

Apologies for my (bad) english

Mike after trying the changes through ifile that you recommended I'm still getting the same results. Appradio crashes after 30 seconds.

Worked perfectly for me Mike! Tested for about 30 min.  Scrolling is a little slow, but does work.  Tapping the bars brings me back to the app radio screen.  I have SBrotator 6 and it rotates the springboard for me on appradio. When it open the springboard rotates but not the pic orientation on appradio.  If I open the messages app then close it with the black bars, it goes back to the springboard and it is rotated and looking perfectly like an iPad on the appradio screen.  Notification banners couldn't be tapped on while in other apps.  This is amazing work.  Thank you.

Hey mike should we also try adding this code to the appradio info.plist file???

<key>UIApplicationExitsOnSuspend</key>

</false>

Unsupported apps show up on AppRadio 2 and does open, but will not allow gestures on the head unit, only on the iPhone.  Any solutions?

It's anyone with an iPhone 4S having the problem with iOS killing the appradio app after like 30 seconds of being inactive or is this a problem with iPhone 4 users only?

Posted Apr 19, 2013 · 02:14 UTC#1174

Mike can I download this file on iPhone an open it in ifile?

I have my auto lock set to off I wonder if I can get over 30 secs of app time.

Does any body know how to add apps to sbrotator to turn on or off or then the ones that are already there.

Mike thanks for the iPad in my car.
