I always start by using the AppRadio app and not the CarMediaPlayer.  The appradio app on the iphone is what brings up the app menu and from there you can go into the various apps including CarMediaPlayer, contacts, calendar, etc.  I haven't spent much time going directly to CarMediaPlayer first.

Since I re-established my bluetooth connection I haven't been having trouble connecting.  Looks like I'm good for now.

All I do is touch app radio icon on the pioneer and it starts app radio I don't touch phone till it pops a message up to allow or ignore on the phone. I'm going to play around with it when I get a chance and see exactly how I been using the app radio

Ok I found that I have to flip toggle before it will go to app radio

Then flip it again before I can play a vid. You might want to try taking ur bypass off and just touch it to a ground see what happens

I can also lunch any app radio app just by touching app on the phone when I'm in app radio mode

But I can't start any app by touching the app on my phone if radio is not 1st in app mode

Only setting I see that has not been talked about is tag forwarding its set to usb1

Don't give up its most likely something small. And when you get it working you will be happy

Don't restore phone unless you have to. That would be when you try out a differnt iPhone 5 and it works and yours still doesn't . I'm looking forward to mike's program to be updated and we get full control of this deck, can't do that with non Jailbroke phone. Gl hope I could help you in just the least bit

i definitely dont want to do a restore.  my last hope right now is to do a full reset of the unit and re-do the blue tooth.

if that doesn't work then i will remove the bypass and see if that does anything.

i do have tag forwarding set to usb1.

whenever appradio opens on my phone it just take me to the screen with the arrows drawn between the phone and head unit, it ask to ignore or allow but then the screen on the head unit sits there with the black screen on white writing saying the app is starting, and the only button i can hit is ignore.

is anyone with a bypass able to use the auto eq feature? mine is greyed out, and i think the only way i will be able to use it is if i remove the bypass and hardwire the parking brake

Yeah find someone else with an iPhone for testing purposes before you resort to restoring your phone. At this point I think your problem is with the bypass. Do as Jason suggested and remove the bypass and just touch the P brake wire to a metal service the required amount of times and see if that clears up the issue. The grounding proceeder the unit needs to see on that wire is on-off-on. Good luck.

There have been several reports on this forum that the bypasses that work with AVH units has caused problems with the auto eq function. Your issue is certainly looking more like an issue with the bypass at this point.

Or his bypass isn't working or bad??  I'm using what looks like the same bypass and I'm not experiencing the same issue.

I started having connection issues again.  Finally brought the lightening digital AV adapter in to give it a try.  Same characteristics working on my TV.  Would connect but it wasn't consistent.  Looks like I'll need to pick up a new one tomorrow and give it a try.

well at this point i am furious...

i purchased the cd-iu201s cable to connect my ipod touch to see if i could get appmode to work with my 3rd generation touch.  it connects and work perfectly but again it does the exact same thing my iphone 5 is doing (except not mirroring my display, its just a black screen)  it goes to the screen where is says the application is starting and has the ignore button on the bottom, yet just as with my iphone 5 it never launches the appmode.

at that point i thought it was the bypass so i cut the parking wire and attached it to ground just like it should be, and the issue is the same.

given everything i have seen the only answer at this point is the unit itself must be defective,  i have tried everything to troubleshoot it and it just wont engage.

Try one last thing, do the on-off-on with the p brake wire that the unit requires in order to think it is bypassed. If that doesn't work then assume your unit is defective and have it replaced.

that is what i just tried to no avail, i am going to go back out and try one more time to see if there is anything i have missed

I'm having the same exact problem with my x8500bhs! My i5 is also jailbroken so i wonder it that's what's causing it

at this point it has to be my radio, i have tried EVERY single thing that could be causing it.

its not my bypass

didnt work with iphone 5 or 3rd generation ipod touch

tried resetting both the unit and my iphone

tried deleting bluetooth info

tried different lightning cables and hdmi cables

nothing worked

I just checked the manual and it doesn't show under AppRadio Mode that the 3rd generation touch is compatible.  Here's what it lists:

  • iPod touch 5th generation
  • iPod touch 4th generation
  • iPhone 5
  • iPhone 4S
  • iPhone 4

Sorry you are having so much trouble with this.  I know it was frustrating for me until I isolated my connection issue.  My only suggestion at this point is to go back through everything and make sure it your using to the specs in the manual:  USB1 connection for your lightning cable, try an iPhone 5 that isn't JB, test your bypass by watching a DVD(this should tell you it's work and this is what I did to test mine).  When I have issues like this I find it's usually something simple that I've overlooked.

you may be correct...

yesterday when i cut the bypass off and hard wired the green to my parking brake i was able to activate the tab for auto EQ, but appmode still didn't work.

i was able to play video via the video out that happens through appmode on my iphone 5 while on the freeway (my passenger was testing everything) but i havent tried a dvd while in motion.  i am going to do that here shortly and see if the bypass is working in that regard.

i ordered a second unit from amazon, i figure if mine is bad i just return my defective unit and keep the new one and if the new one displays the same exact issue then i know its not the unit and i return the new one.

ok so i just went for a drive and the dvd playback works flawlessly with the bypass, no issues with the nagscreen or anything.

im really crossing my fingers that the unit itself is the issue, the second one i purchased arrives monday so we will see what happens

Posted Apr 13, 2013 · 20:18 UTC#41

I hope the new unit solves it.  At least you will know through a process of elimination what the issue is.  I got a new lightning cable today and connects every time.  Now I finally get to enjoy it.    Waiting on two more items to finish up my install in the Golf a uber stealth sub box and amp rack.

Matt also one more thing to try here. I am a little concerned about you purchasing your Apple adapter through Amazon as a lot of the stuff they sell is counterfeit from China. I realize you may have purchased it from Amazon and not a vendor but as a last ditch effort, go to Best Buy and purchase the adapter there. Test it and if it works you know the adapter is the issue. If it doesn't just return it to BB. I say this because the problem you are describing sounds like a communication issue between the adapter and the software. Good luck and Im out if suggestions.  ;)

My defective Apple adapter came from Amazon don't think I mentioned that.  Bought one today at the Apple store.  All good now.

COOL!!!!!

One is fixed at least

ok so the new unit arrived today, plugged it in and got the exact same issue as before.  i think at this point it is safe to say that the unit is not the problem and it is either my phone or one of the cables.

i'll be returning the new one tomorrow, at least now i know that the unit isn't the issue.

i'll be going to best buy on wednesday to buy a new cable, at that point if it doesn't work i will know it is my phone.

i should have access to another iphone 5 this afternoon as well

Posted Apr 15, 2013 · 22:58 UTC#47

Dont return the new one. Return the one you've had as defective. That way Amazon wont charge you shipping. And good luck.

yeah that is the plan, i also purchased a 4th generation ipod touch to test out. the ipod will be here tomorrow so i can test that out too, if that works i can tether the ipod touch off my iphone 5 until i figure this all out

Posted Apr 16, 2013 · 00:43 UTC#49

so i just had a pretty big break through!  my pone crashed while i was using it and it was in safe mode, so i figured i might as well plug it in and see if there is any change.

soon as i launched app mod it immediately worked!  so it appears my phone being jailbroken is in fact the real issue here, i am going to remove everything i have added and see if i can narrow down what has caused the issue here.

what appears to be the best navigation app?

also what other apps are must haves?

winter board is always a good one to delete off your phone, if you added hacked sources some of the things in there make for problems, now all you have to do is find the one thing in cydia that's messing you up
