Check out the article below. Lots of info and question answered.
Per http://www.macworld.com/article/2147901/carplay-for-the-rest-of-us-pioneer-demos-apples-interface-in-its-nex-infotainment-systems.html, Pioneer is saying it will release the upgrade in a matter of weeks.
"The upgrade will be available as a download from Pioneer’s website, which you can transfer to your NEX system using a USB key drive. When? Pioneer’s official line is early summer, but Cardenas called it a matter of “a few weeks†before the upgrade would be available."
Clicking the Mode button when in CarPlay mode, takes you to the NEX receivers home screen menu where all the above functions can be accessed. Click Mode again and you are brought back to the CarPlay screen. NO MORE POP-UPS OR WARNING MESSAGES!
Nice I like that
Today is is May 16th, the apple WWDC conference is June 15, which is a few weeks away. If you wanted a date I'd bet it is that. Based on what was said on macworld, it isn't Pioneer that is holding up carplay. It's Apple. In the demo you couldn't even use the 3rd party apps they showed off at CES so I guess they aren't ready yet, and Siri didn't do a perfect job, again, not ready yet.
The article said we can have the update soon as before June 15
That's around the corner
Yup when they have there next release is most likely when we will have the update, can't wait
Guys,
I think when getting my 8000NEX installed, I screwed myself over...I had them route a lightning cable (not the USB extention cord) to USB port 1, and apparently that's where I'm supposed to use a thumb drive?!
The manual says that firmware updates can also be done over an SD card. Should I be fine using that? Everywhere I've refered to advises of a USB thumb drive. Why wouldn't I be able to use the SD card? Do I have to take my car back to the installer?!
If the manual says you can use an SD card, why are you concerned?
Pioneer Demos Apple's CarPlay Solution for Older Cars, Set to Release in a Few Weeks
VBLUE42....only because everyone is mentioning a USB key, and doesn't advise of the SD card still being an option. Nothing more....I know, it's stupid.
USB use to be the only way to update Pioneer units.
FOUND THIS ON YOUTUBE:
I. CAN'T. WAIT!!!!!!!!
Car Play needs to hurry already ![]()
USB use to be the only way to update Pioneer units.
Okay, so that's most likely why the PR's would say that and leave out SD's....got it.
The manual states that updates can be loaded from the SD Card.
So far, it's been a week.....so next week makes it "weeks" right??
Oh my! Very nice.
Pretty good video on the 8000
Thank you! I've been looking for that video unchopped up. I've seen it on a site with it in pieces. It was so much better as a coherent message.
