And she's telling you the truth. No one that anyone here could get on the phone will know anything. The people that know at Apple you will never get on the phone.

Yep, And to the people saying they may be keeping it because it's still buggy, my only thought to that is apple was proudly showing off Pioneer's head unit at WWDC. I think they are holding it until the first consumer car has it. So the aftermarket isn't the first face of carplay out the door.

Nailed it.  I guess I didn't realized that none of the Carplay cars were available yet.  That's totally the reason!  So... anybody know when they are to be released?

Why would they care whether or not OEM CarPlay was released first as opposed to aftermarket?  If anything, we'd be first on purpose to serve as the guinea pigs.  We'd potentially save them from a rollout-gone-wrong faceplant with Honda or Hyundai, because our vehicles didn't have "OEM integration".  The first one or two CarPlay firmware patches (if even necessary) would be based upon our lessons learned, and the OEM applications would get a more robust introduction as a result.

Let's say you ARE right.  Then they'll be 2015 MY releases from the OEM's and all of us can forget about "summer" for our firmware updates.

Thats not the reason. And stop asking for a release date because you're never going to get one.

I wouldn't be surprised if there wasn't some contractual "We'll be first" language for the first few auto manufacturers to release Carplay cars.  Hope not... but I can totally see that being the case.

I really don't think car manufactures are that focused on CarPlay to make that a priority in their marketing.

Here's a tip. Want to see the Carplay app icon on your iPhone 5/c/s? It's hiding out at Settings/General/Restrictions. Haven't found it anywhere else.

Wait, Apple is proudly showing off all sorts of buggy stuff at WWDC. The audience is mostly developers (and press there for the keynote), where you can actually demo that sort of stuff without the audience going nuts when there's a bug. "Demo-ready" has never meant "ready to ship" during my time in the industry.

Huh, you can restrict CarPlay use with specific devices. Nice touch. But since it is supposed to be automatic, I'm not terribly surprised that it isn't anywhere else.

I don't agree. Maybe they don't fully understand it yet, but with the exception of Honda, every one of the carplay partners that are slated for 2014 have shown off their rigs running carplay at the last auto show.

Ferrari have even launched a press release saying the first carplay cars will be rolling out of the factory "in the coming weeks"

RWILIMO is PIONEER TED.

Based on his post history he sounds like just a pretty regular guy. He even complained about Appradio mode and asked people about whether or not he should buy some Sony head unit.

Also If he worked for pioneer and they gave him the 7000 instead of the full Monty 8000 I'd reevaluate my employer benefits.

Exactly, no one on this forum would ever identify themselves as a Pioneer employee or they would likely be fired. They monitor this board and would not tolerate any of their people disclosing such info. If he is Pioneer related however, I want to be able to check his credibility if he is going to posting such info on this forum. That is why I asked how he knew the info he was posting.

I am not Ted, but I am semi in the know.  I have seen and used Carplay with both Ios7 and Ios8 phones on an 8000, its coming along but not done yet, I have no other information at this time...

Why on earth would Pioneer hashtag "carplay", and then not even mention it during their "big announcement?!"

They do have a press conference tomorrow at 11:45am though

When has pioneer ever marketed something correctly?

I am also waiting for CarPlay to arrive.

I am curious though what CarPlay will do that I already can do without it?

I can have siri read my messages and I can respond to them. I can set alerts/events by using siri. I can have siri read my email. I have hands free calling. I have Nav. I can listen to music from my phone/ipod.

I guess maybe if they add more apps, which I guess they already have, MLB and Podcasts. Unless they have improved their Map app, I would rather use Pioneer Nav.

Siri won't read back the third message down the list that you got a half hour ago. Your maps app doesn't automatically pull addresses from the most recent emails that you've recieved, and being that carplay is an official apple venture once they open up the api there will be a lot more apps than other methods.

However yes your point is valid that most of what carplay does is already duplicated in other options.

Sent an email to Pioneer about the lack of speed camera data in the 8000 (F60DAB in the UK), this was their response:

Good Morning

The speed camera information is not yet available for this unit, it will be
in the next few weeks, it will be available when the Car Play App is here,
which is the middle of this month.

Hope this helps.

So seems like they have a target of "middle of the month"...we'll see!

Kind regards
