And it list's the models it works with and Z1 is not listed.

If so we might need to take a Z2, update it, make sure the bypass works, and then clone that drive to a Z1's drive and then your Z1 is updated to a Z2. Not the easiest thing, but it might be doable.

I was only pointing out that the discs NUTTZZY34 was referring to (CNDV-70MTP) are for the N & D series not the Z1/2.

Exactly. This doesn't seem to be the update we are waiting for. If the update converts a Z1 to a Z2, why would it be ok to load into the D & N series?

The website also mentions; "Note: Does not change the XM Radio or iPod Interfaces." We know the XM interface on the Z2 has different icons than the Z1.

I think this is simply a map update for the D & N series. The Z2 UPGRADE may be still to come...

I would like to say that not long after you might see a Z3 announcement, but I don't get the feeling that they are going to have that ready in early 08.

will this cd be able to be hacked?

will this cd be able to be hacked?

You should know that nobody can answer that question. Of course someone is going to have to get their hands on it and give it a try. Unfortunately the demand for hacking/cracking NAV CD's isn't too big. If this was Windows 2010, you'd have one of the big warez groups cracking it within hours :)

I for one am not going to run right out and buy it. I want to 1) see what all is on it to determine if it is even worth $250 to me 2) make sure the bypass works and .. 3) see if after a bit of time someone can crack it so I wouldn't have to pay yet ANOTHER $250 to pioneer.

Posted Jul 16, 2007 · 20:58 UTC#46

I'm very willing to investigate the possibility of cracking it, but wasn't able to find a download... anyone can point me towards downloading the uncracked CD?

Regards,

Nika.

It's a 7.something gig DVD, and I don't know if you need to crack it. I have heard you can just install it over and over. But I won't know till I get my hands on one, should be soon.

so when is it going to be out? wonder what else the update will do

Posted Jul 19, 2007 · 15:49 UTC#49

I just spoke with Pioneer and their parts department. The told me the CNDV-700HD will be available as order through dealers only come Sept 1.

Posted Jul 19, 2007 · 16:48 UTC#50

I sent an email to Pioneer customer service today requesting information on the update for the Z1 (map and misc info). The customer service rep sent me an email that stated I had to find a Pioneer dealer to load this information into the Z1. That is a big rip off. The informaiton can easily be provided thru a DVD disk, to upgrade the unit. Going to a dealer is a waste of time and money. I also have a Lincoln Zephyr with the navigation unit. Lincoln(ford) provides a free disk upgrade every year or so for this unit. Pioneer should be supplying the navigation upgrade free of charge. I believe this is a safety issue. The data base needs to remain current in order to reduce safety issues while driving. Most of the portable navigation units can be upgraded free of charge over the internet. Pioneer is being very greedy and charging for this upgrade when it should be supplied free of charge to anyone that paid for the Z1, Z2, D2 units. I believe a class action lawsuit may be possible since this is a safety issue, and Pioneer is to blame.
