What is the manufacture date of the bypassable Z2? I just had an Apr '07 installed in my truck. ![]()
I KNOW HOW TO BY PASS THE Z2
so as I figured, the serial # can only be used once, and I guess the serial # entered is $250 a pop. This is the last Pioneer product I buy unless they upgrade my Z2 for free at the dealer. ![]()
I got my z2 from crutchfield as a replacement for a dead z1. Hopefully crutchfield can supply the z2 owners with a no-charge upgrade. Especially if they get hit with a bunch of complaints. There is no way I'm dishing out $250 for an upgrade to what I already have (of course without the bypass). Although if we can find the file or files on the upgrade that are different and allow the bypass, I'd much rather pay to unlock my drive and replace those.

Ditto, this is starting to sound more and more like horseshit. I went ahead, trusted the pioneer brand, pre-ordered my unit to be the first with one, and it sounds like im going to be screwed. Between dj gear and this stuff, Ive spent... well more than I want to admit, on pioneer.
If it goes the way we're pessimistically thinking, then I wont be buying ANYTHING Pioneer ever again. I mean, what the hell happened to brand loyalists getting some kind of kick back? I know im jumpin the gun a bit and getting ass chaped early, but I dont think this will end well for myself and those of us who bought early.

We can only hope that Pioneer or the resellers will do the right thing, but I'm with you, my ass is sore already without knowing anything for sure yet.
Well, all we need to do is get an image of a Z2 (or Z1) that's been updated and figure out which files changed from the original Z2. Remember, the serial number is in the hardware, the upgrade is on the software. So if you upgrade a drive in one unit, it should work fine in another.
I just bought a z2 and should recieve it tomorrow. Does anyone know if mine will have the new updated discs for a possible bypass ? Or will i have to drop 250 more dollars?

look back at the first couple of posts, it said something about the color of the serial number label on the unit I believe
I talked to my supplier today and asked them to look at their Z2's in stock to see if any of them had the yellow bar code. None of them did, but they received them two weeks ago.
You know the guy who posted at the beginning Legend? Well have you noticed this thread is growing and he has made no more comments... I fnd that strage.. I hope he comes through... but I would say dont get your hopes up...
Even though it was his second post, he joined back in June of last year. Another lurker like me.
The Z2s with yellow stickers arrived at our distributor today. Probably be a day or two before I can get my hands on one and physically verify that it works
I mean no disrespect to him just hope its not a let me get the blood pumping thing cause its working.. LOL

could be the pioneer people are having a good laugh at us. "Look at this Fred, watch what happens when I toss this little peice of meat into this pit of wild hungry dogs...... LOL! Look at them go!!!!"
asses.....
ROLF i bet they do that 2 ![]()
if indeed this rumor is true, which does sound feasible given the confirmation on label changes, then this is a boat of good news! Between work and other home projects, cracking the Z2 has taken back seat for me...
As to the serial# and call in registration, once the details get out I am sure some (?) will find a "keygen" to produce the matching reg codes for a generic ISO... and if not, I guess I will be dishing out $250 for an update... Anxious to see some confirmed updates on this topic!
Cheers
i think Pioneer will have a free system update just like the bluetooth
don't count it!

haha thats probaby what happened. As a software engineer myself, I know we are pretty sadistic.
Yeah this thread is pretty much un-viable. Whoever posted it had only 1 post under this name.
Probably a Forum Troll. ![]()

Any updates???
Probably would be best to stick to the main thread on the forums for this topic: Bypass AVIC-Z2
Ok my rep confirmed that they have a software bypass, I cant say anymore then he agreed to bypass my bosses for a car show, I havent seen it work yet as soon as I can I will sneak and burn a copy of the software.
