The disc I was told about is the one that you supposedly have to buy for $250. I'll post in here when I found out more. I'm sorry to tease, but that's all the info I have for now.

 

Another Pioneer rep on another forum that I frequent just confirmed that the upgrade disc will be available from Pioneer's website as a FREE download. He said next Thursday it should be up on the site.

If Pioneer would be making available a Z2 update for existing Z2 owners via download from there site the following paragraph would not matter, however if it doesn’t come through consider the following…

A while back I thought that we determined that the file/s responsible for the ability to bypass was in the “APL†folder from The “PRG0 & PRG1†folders. If somebody could send me a copy of the APL folder from the new bypassed Z2 I could compare the contents and determine what file/s need to be changed. This may make it easier for those who have unlocked HDDs to just swap files in the APL folder. These files would be much smaller and much easier to transfer via e-mail / network. Just a thought

mine works. Mine was manufactured in june '06. I did the upgrade from Z1 to Z2 for the blue tooth upgrade. when i upgraded the flashers stopped working. All I did was ground the connetor #2 pin and presto! took me more time to get the custom kit back installed....lol

I was trying to go to SUBWAY and would put SHUMWAY... LOL we just had a laugh on how it would come up with some things that didnt even sound close.

If you dont want to help answer the question, dont simply post an attack please. I thought that we were here to work on a common issue - The Bypass for the Z2. The designers of the Z2 are your enemy - not me.

djmixmac, how his jehenry's post "talking all this smack"? If I were jehenry I would be a little pissed at this post as well. He offered $ to bypass the Z2, people have been working hard, pioneer came up with it for the most part and we are trying to just get it out there and jehenry asked for advice where to send his money? How is this smack. I think it's commendable for someone when something like this comes out to even still offer to give this promised reward.

jehenry, No problem. I hate to speak for others here, and not to belittle anything anyone here has done... but I almost feel that Pioneer is the one who came up with the bypass. We are just using it. There are even rumors that they will be putting an iso on their site for bypassing Z2's. So there is no way I would take your money. There are a bunch of 1000+ post members here who have been working very hard to try to come up with something. And I guess I can't speak for them.

As I see it, I would keep your money (others might disagree). I'm just very happy you offered to try to pay someone for the bypass for their hard work. It says a lot about a person's character to follow through with commitments like this. And I appreciate it, way more than I would appreciate your $200. I'm just happy a bypass is out there. I wasn't spending time on this to get control of the "pot" that was building up. But thanks for the attempt, that to me, shows your character and that kind of thing is rare these days. Thanks, but my feeling is you should keep your money.

well I did the HenryJ way.. Im seriously screwed now.. I have gone through the update process. Then about 68% and it says that the update disc has errors. In order to restart, press retry. Now I have done this about 10 times, reburning, re downloading etc.. HELP!!

Definatley agree with the god of bypass Mr Ducati. jehenry you are a standup person for offering up the money you promised for the bypass. And you should keep it anyway. Though if you really want to give it away, I could use the money . Anyway big thumbs up to you

Ill pay money to get out a bind right now. Im stuck and I dont know what to do..

When I got to this type of problem and it was a bad burn, I didn't know it was a bad burn and I pulled out the drive and restored it from a previous backup. So something can be done. I don't know what the deal is with hyperlite's iso. But worse comes to worse, the drive can be unlocked and restored with a stock image and brought back to life.

That would pose a problem I guess. Maybe the ISO is not ready for prime time? I have no Z2 to test it.

Keep hitting retry... it will take a lot but it is making changes.. everytime it over-writes a file... count the seconds between pop ups it will be different for different file sizes... this is what I had to do with my upgrade...

I just installed it on my Z2 and it installed just fine.

You're a good man to keep your word, but so many people have contributed in a lot of different ways, I'm on the same page as DucatiBoy...keep your money. I never started working on this to gain anything except a bypassable Z2, and with the contributions of this forum and the people on it, I have that....and hopefully have helped other people have it as well.

wow this is amazing. .75 times, and got it to work. now why would pioneer do this?? lol
