Unfortunately, I only have a mac and dont know how to restore images etc..

That would pose a problem I guess. Maybe the ISO is not ready for prime time? I have no Z2 to test it.

I just updated my Z2 with the ISO, did the 2-wire trick, and mine works great!

I have a quick question guys. I have read all of the post and maybe I am missing this so hear goes. I have a Z1 that has the two wire bypass and all is working great. If I run the upgrade disc to make my Z1 a Z2, will the bypass continue to work after the upgrade or will the two wire bypass have to be redone? Just trying to find out in advance. Thanks.

I was trying to post this question here and somehow I created a new topic??? Sorry.

For the Z2 bypass? Check the sticky at the top of this forum: http://www.avic411.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=8783

For an upgrade from Z1 to Z2? Not yet available.

Where can we get the iso ??

Now that we have a palatable bypass - I remember giving my word about my portion of a reward which was $200 bucks. However I am not sure who actually gets the reward for their best efforts in delivered the bypass – Help me out forum fans – who gets my promised $200 buck piggy bank?

I would suggest paying Hyperite for this post: http://www.avic411.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=8783

Since hyper doesnt want any money, I say we at least toss him some booze of some sort. This is definitely worth, at the very least, a fifth or a case or two of his poison of choice.

What do ya say hyper? :D

Hey whoa, it's not that I don't WANT the money, I just would feel bad taking it. Though if people want to make donations, I could split it out among everybody that helped, or repay the people that bought hard drive unlocks to do image testing with me. :)

But again, I'm not asking for anything.

OK, fine, since i've been getting a lot of PMs about this (i updated the first post of the sticky too):

DONATIONS:

I never did any of this for the bounty or for any money at all. My goal was to get a bypassable Z2, and help other people along the way. I've got that, and hopefully some of you guys do now too. There have been a few people who are insisting on giving money for this. If you'd like to donate, please just click the link below to Paypal it to me. I'll leave that up until the end of August, and then split it out among the people who have helped me or unlocked their drive for this (I have all your names). Thanks for the support!

I copied the "sdata" directory onto a CD and put it in my Z2. Pressed the 'map" button and nothing happened.

Questions:

1) Do I need to unlock the hard drivce first?

2) Do I need to press and other button?

3) Do I need to copy the all the files in one directory

Thanks

works great thank you very much i did it in 1 try...

I was able to us ISO file and get my Z2 updated, thanks to Mazada.

One more question, could someone post the link to the bypass wiring instructions I need to do next. I seached but couldn't find the thread.

Posted Jul 25, 2007 · 01:35 UTC#139

So the bypass wiring is the same as doing the Z1?

Just a matter of getting the upgrade disk or downloading from Pioneer's site if they put the "upgrade" on there this week, load that disk and then do the two wire upgrade and we're good to go?

Sounds easy enough! :)

the update is alredy posted in the forum :)

One problem with my bypass maybe someone can help me with.

I installed the ISO software update, I grouned the 2 wire bypass using the mute(yellow with black strip) wire in #2 and grounded it and the light green wire grounded. Now the Nav systems works fine while moving, the DVD plays while moving great. But I have a AV input (archos) that used the AV Input function on the Z2 that is non-selectable now. Now I can't use it to play music through the Z2.

Any Ideas????

Go into the initial/setup menu and turn it back on. Probably became set to OFF when you reset it

If you have have one, You may want to turn your backup camera back on while you are in there.....

Thanks Donovan, its worked

Great work everyone. I tried the bypass on a friend's Z2...all is good. I currently have a Z1 and I'm anxiously waiting to see a solution for the Z1. It has been mentioned that have a Z2 image on the Z1 would allow the Z2 bypass to work. My question is, how hard is it to get a Z2 image on a Z1.

If you unlock both drives it should be pretty easy to copy the files from one to the other. I have some acronis backup images which, when I restore them seem to put my Z1 into some weird lockup reboot mode (software update failed messages). I think if you do it at the file level, it's ok, but I'm having trouble with the whole restore image.

But people have told me you can do it. I just haven't gotten to it yet.

Or you can pay pioneer the $250. OR wait till someone tells you how to crack their code for SN/install codes.

Any way I can get this DVD for less than $250

Anyone wanna sell me a copy of it?

Bypass and all who helped are superb.

I had to go through 3 burns to get a good disk that would take but that's common with the disks I've been getting.

Thanks again to all who made it possible. Pioneer may have done part but they did it for marketing losses. You guys put it out there and spoon fed a lot of folks how to do it. That's admirable and impressive by any standards.

I said I would come back with an update...

You will be happy to know that this bypass has worked flawlessly for well over 3500 miles and two weeks! This is personally tested by myself!

VERY NOOB question, but if you have the Z2 do you need to unlock the HDD to bypass it?

Or can you just bypass it by doing the two wire ground and using the ISO image (never touching the HDD)?
