Something has come loose. Check both grounds, and that the pin you moved is in the new location solidly

I actually am having the same problem i did the 2 wire grounding myself and still having the same problem it worked at one pont but since then it goes back to the same thing saying that it is not hooked up right, therefore not being able to control it while the car is in motion, but if i reset it while im driving and let it come back on it works but its not worth it considering it changes some settings. So there most be a new mod that has to be done. But one ? i do have is do the 2 ground wires have to be grounded together or can they be grounded 2 different places?

Ok Previously i did not move the Pin now that i did that i grounded the green wire and the black ground from the radio and it worked for a day and i then got in the car today and the "brake not hooked up" screen came on and i was pissed again. The wire i put in is in there quite secure i dont know what im doing wrong that everyone else is doing right?

Help!

Try resetting it again.

If that doesn't fix the parking brake error message, then you have not grounded the parking brake wire properly

hey guys I have been reading though this and I have one question about the bypass. I made the 2 wire connections and loaded the update, now movies play while driving but the navigation buttons gray out once I get going 5 + mph. Is there a way to get the navigation buttons to work while driving at any speed. Thank you guy very much.

You missed a step in the bypass. Movies and nav functions are all available at any speed when done correctly.

I downloaded the file "Z2BypassUpdate.iso" and burned an image using Nero but when I inserted the disk into the drive, with parking brake on, the deck said "old version update disc inserted. Please insert new version to update"

my deck's vitals:

Version: 02.0000

Is there a newer version?

Then you didn't need it. The bypass is working, right?

no, because the software was older than what is already installed. It didnt install the bypass files. I went back and doublechecked everything. Only with the parking brake engaged will it respond to any user input or video playback in the front cab....Any ideas? Thanks in advance..

Did you do the 2-wire bypass already? Doesn't sound like it.

I cant do it that way. used your alternative route that involved the ISO.....

Dramonb!!!

If you get the old disc message.... you don't need to install it. Do the 2 wire by-pass, and you are done. That's it. No hack... just wires.

No matter what software you install, you have to do the 2-wire bypass for this to work.

alright. i'll see who in los angeles can help. Disappointing as I thought the software angle would work. someone mentioned startronics at some point i'll see what they can do.

A quick suggestion for this thread. Having read all 43 pages it became quite clear how to do this bypass, but most people are probably not going to read all 43 pages, and reading the first page probably isn't going to cut it if they really don't know what they are doing.

Why not edit the OP point out the following points that seem to be asked about multiple times per page:

- All systems will need the 2-wire bypass regardless of the software version on the Z2

- Your system MAY require a software update to bypass, which can be either the .ISO download here or the latest Pioneer firmware update from ~Sept 2007. Newer systems probably won't need any software changes.

- Symptoms of a bad 2-wire grounding job (I.E. works for 10 miles and then shuts off, buttons still grayed out, improper parking brake wire warning message even after reset, etc)

I am having trouble with the 2 wire bypass. The parking brake is grounded fine, but I can't locate wire #2. My harness does not have any empty connectors. All the connectors have wires running in them. Am I looking at the wrong one?

My Z2 was manufactured in September 07 and is being installed on a 04 Subaru WRX.

I have read this entire thread.

I to have the same thing..... (I recall looking at the harness after reading this thread a few days ago)..... All pins have a wire in them. Not sure of Mfg date (at work) but I just received the unit as a xmas gift.

Quote from the walkthru "The 4 right most locations in that connector DO NOT have wires in them. You need to add a wire to this position and ground it as well."

Do I simply splice into that wire and ground it; or cut it then ground it?

Another question I have and this may be relevant to SSSP's post, is, I am installing this unit in a Mitsu EVO MR. Some of you may be aware that these cars are very ridged and the ride comfort is very low. With that said (and I have read) that sometimes the unit will reboot do to shock. Does anyone have a successful install on a similar vehicle? And if so, are there any issues?

Thanks for any advise...

Cheers

Disregard my first question. I went home for lunch and looked again and found the harness that has the four open slots. My second question still stands.

I saw a post on an e46(BMW M3) forum where someone installed it i their M3....I don't have an AVIC in mine, but they do ride pretty rough....

My truck rides pretty rough as it's got a sportir suspension, and a ton of miles on it(Silverado SS)...the Avic tells me that it's too rough half the times, but it's never rebooted or caused any issue so far...

You remove (don't cut...you need the metal connector) a wire from a different slot (cell mute), put it in the empty slot, and ground it.

Thanks Hyperite,

That much I understood given I am now looking at the right harness :)

I installed an August 2007 build AVIC Z2 today. I grounded the E-brake wire and removed a unused lead from the pioneer harness to add to the empty space on connector #2 and grounded it as well.

When I tried to update using the image files I burned the unit told me update was already done.

Of course I do not have DVD play capabilities once the truck is moving. I assume I lost the ground on connector #2 but if some one here could check my work so far I would appreciate it.

Check your grounds and that the pin is firmly seated in the 'bypass' hole in the harness
