Actually, you will hear the source fade out for about 1/4 of a second as the amplifiers power cycle. This may not be the case with external amps.
Good catch, I'm using an external amp setup.

So I just imaged my original Z1 drive and then stuck the new Z2 image on that.. Everything is working perfectly -- no rebooting like when I was using the 40gig Fujitsu drive! excellent...
I have started a new thread here:
http://www.avic411.com/forum/viewtopic. ... 3447#63447
That is specifically for the HDD testing and results, this thread should not be hijacked from the topic, and seeing as the images are all posted we should start a new thread to make finding HDD replacement info easier. I have shared my results and hope everyone will follow suit so we can collect as much data as possible.
is this down load unlocked all ready?

Yes, the bypass is already applied.

You still need to unlock your hard drive to copy the image over.
I just tried to download the torrents, but it looks like they're not on the site anymore...
is there anywhere else I could get those torrents, as downloading this big iso over bittorrent is the best way I think
Do the FTP, fast AND reliable
The FTP, Torrent and Usenet all seem to be broken links.
Can anyone assist those of us who are a day late and a dollar short???
Just saw this post stryk3r. Thanks for the help!
I have a Giganews account and went and checked on alt.binaries.avic.fileshare and there were no files there. No headers even actually...
alt.binaries.test has millions of headers so I let them download for what seemed like a few hours. I searched for "avic" and "z1" and "z2" and couldnt find a thing.
help?
I imaged it onto an 80 GB Hitachi I had lying around, and it works fine, I just loaded the 30 GB image and left the rest blank just to test it out, when it first booted up.... it says it's updating the system and had 2 parts. Then it rebooted and everything was factory again and it was a z2, THANKS A BUNCH
I went for a drive and the maps are updated, the change boot logo option is there, the menus are updated, it's all good. Only took me about 35 mins to load the image across my network. I am currently raring the image into 50MB parts, and then I will make 20% pars and create a nzb. I have created a group on my news service usenetserver.com alt.binaries.avic.fileshare, It's been up about a week and I already uploaded the Z2 update iso from the sticky into it just to make sure it works. I will upload the image onto USENET and then no one has to seed anything, and anyone can grab it all night long at top speeds. I will also be putting it into alt.binaries.test cause I'm not sure if the group I created will populate onto other servers, so if you can't find alt.binaries.avic.filshare then lookup alt.binaries.test and it will be there as wel and that group should show up on all servers for sure.
Thanks to AFMagnum for starting the effort, and bigfloppy for being the first to mass distribute the image, I'm just gonna help pass it on like I promised in the beginning.
Cheers
alt.binaries.test on easynews.com still has it posted. It's only 11 days old and easynews usually keeps about 45 days back.

Hrmmm.. giganews is the worlds largest usenet provider and provides 200+ days of retention. I am still getting the headers for alt.binaries.test for a few hours. 19.7 million headers ![]()
I searched for "avic" and "z2"
In the last few minutes, the "Z2BypassUpdate.part[x]" just appeared. That stuff is 17.2 days old. Still waiting to finish... hopefully it shows up.

WHEW! FINALLY!
It was near the very end of the headers. 11.6 - 12.7 days old it says. I am grabbing all the files now...
It is posted as "Pioneer AVIC Z2 Bypassed HDD Image" for all your FYI.

I just tested the FTP site and the files are still there. Plus it looks like they are still available through the newsgroups.

YES, there did appear to be a problem with the FTP as noted this morning.
Looks like it's back up without any issues at current time
ANYONE SEES THERE'S A PROBLEM, PM ME and I'll jump on it ASAP

Anyone has problem with NAV traffic with this bypassed image? My NAV traffic info was on and off. I was driving from Orange County to LA and the NAV traffic stopped showing traffic info for 405N (from Long Beach) and 110N. If I turn off the unit and turn it back on it will pick up the info again. Any ideas? Should I completely reset the unit, unplug the XM/NAV unit, then plug it back in?
Thanks
Would Like the ISO for Z1-Z2 also Please
