Processor: It is about 1 and 1/4" square. No brand name on the processor but the following writing:
R8A73820A
HA01BGV might be HA01BCV
BB09165
0609 JAPAN

I'm betting one of these is a serial number.

Google was unable to help with these numbers.

I don't know if Samsung makes processors but most of the chips are samsung's.

Large pics at these links. 1-2 meg each.

Check out all the crazy writing on the top of my DVD drive. Looks like it went through a lot of hands or something.

Here is the bottom of the DVD drive:

Here is the processor module. The lid was soldered on and I already put it back before I found the pics were a little blurry. Sorry. I didn't see enough information to make opening it back up worth the effort.

I changed camera's. This one did much better up close.

Here is the underside of the Processor:

For those that care here is the G-Sensor (just my assumption - )

Here is part of the board under the HDD. It appears the cable is IDE style and the hdd are master and slave. I think the silver cover in the middle is protecting the flash RAM. Wild guess really, but there are not many more places I can look for it.

I'm pretty dense, but I did at least know enough to try that. :)

Still got the network solutions page.

Yep. Linky no worky. But it did come up with some very interesting links....
Posted Jul 03, 2006 · 13:50 UTC#9
I even tried logging in with an ftp client with the info you posted ages ago and couldn't resolve the name. Even now. Maybe my ISP is taking it's sweet time updating DNS records or something.

You think the name is good, you have got to see his main flash animation when it's back up. It was so funny, I peed myself.

His web site is up for me, but the links keep taking me to his flash animation, not the pictures that were posted.

Then use my link. The file names are obvious.

Oh, and the bigfloppy links work over here. It must be the Usenet, slashdot and other hacking things you have loaded.

Ok, officially need to call myself an idiot for not trying this first.

I didn't even bother loading the .exe files in an analyzer so I went and grabbed one and loaded the smallest .exe, Download.exe, and got this info. This should help with development of any additional apps for this unit.

The processor type this is compliled for it Hitachi SH4

The header checksum is 00000000h, real checksum is 0002C655h so there is no checksum validation going on in the files. Good thing for us.

Subsytem confirmed as WinCE GUI version 4.20 for OS 4.0.
This is not compiled for Windows Automotive 5.0 then! At least this file is not.

Internal date stamp is 3-13-2006

I'll check the other .exe's and see if there are any significant differences to note.
Posted Jul 03, 2006 · 20:34 UTC#21
All other .exe's have the same characteristics.

Nothing obvious, that was one of the things I was looking for. I'm thinking the bluetooth or IPod adapter may be USB but I don't have one to look at.

Today I'm playing with the holes on the bottom of the unit, looking for a JTAG.

I have both the bluetooth adaptor and Ipod interface and neither seem to have a USB interface of any kind. The bluetooth connector is extensive with many connections at least 10, rather than the 5 of USB. Also, I'm using the same Ipod adaptor as I did on my N1 so I'm guessing it is some sort of slower serial connection for data and direct audio connection to the ipod.

I mispoke when I said IPOD. I forgot it was part of the databus so it's out. The Bluetooth adapter has it's own port in the back of the Z1 that's why I hoped it was a better possibility. There may be some USB functionality in it. When they get the Blackberry issues worked out I will likely get one and take it apart if nobody else does first.
All 10 contacts on the connector may not be used or the "extras" may be for sending seperate power to the unit (wishful thinking).
