Installed my new gen 80 gig last night with the CD-i200. Track information sticks but if you press the back button to restart the song it will update. Not the end of the world but it sure is annoying.
Any word on an update yet?

I noticed that there's a button that says shuffle all... anytime you hit that button, it'll play all songs on your ipod in shuffle mode.
Is there any way to scroll through artists / song titles faster? takes forever to keep on pressing the arrow down or up. Holding it down is even slower. I think they should implement a software update so that you can search alphabetically. Like a separate menu with all the letters on the screen so when you hit "C", it'll list all Artists or whatever starting with C.
Now that Apple has unlocked the video feature on the Ipod Classic I am still unable to watch videos through my AVIC-D3 when I hit the video buttons. Is it safe to assume that my cable does not has video capabilities and I need to buy Video cable with yell, white, and red? Probably a dumb question but this is my first pioneer tv unit, I WAS A KENWOOD MAN.
So you are able to go into the ipod menu and turn "TV Out" to ON, then you connect it to the CDI200, press VIDEO on the screen, use the controls on the Ipod to start playing a movie, and you get nothing onscreen?

THANK YOU.... Like I said I am new to the pioneer scene. What I was doing wrong was hitting the video button but when it asked me to connect the video accessory I was not disconnecting and then reconnecting the adapter. It works fine now and now I now I have the task of converting all my sons dvd's to my ipod 160 so I do not have to remove the nav disc or buy an external dvd player. I MIGHT LIKE PIONEER AFTER ALL.

I downloaded the latest update from Itunes and have had no issues with it sticking yet. My MENU part doesnt work all the time still though which sucks.
the menu button on the headunit stops working whenever you turn off your car. the memory of what the previous menus were is lost. i don't know if this is apple or pioneer's doing, but each of the last 4 pioneer decks have done this with all of my ipods.
So is there anyway at all i can get my 6th gen ipod to play videon on my d3? any cables or anything at all?
http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/W ... A#overview
Run this into the A/V input. It won't charge the ipod, and you won't be able to control the ipod from the D3

so can you use the ipod classic on n4? my 80gb classic will not work but my friends iphone will work and will show videos. i don't understand why the ipone will work and my 80gb classic will not work
Hi, I have a gen 5 or 5.5 30gb iPod video, the version I know is past 1.0.2
when I hit the video tab on the d3, the screen tells me I need to use the ipod, I have the video out turned on. I wanted to know if this is normal or can you control the videos from the d3 without using the iPod.
Normal. You have to start playing the movie from the ipod. You can then control the pause/play, FF, REW, etc from the D3. If you have a playlist of videos, you can go through them from the screen too after starting one

I totally blame Pioneer for my problems with the AVIC-D3. I had mine professionally installed at Circuit City 1-2 weeks ago. No mention that ipod generation >5.5 do not work with video, including iphones. bluetooth is horrible, have to reconnect it with my iphone EVERYTIME I get in and out of the car, totally useless. The gps is innacurrate. What gets me is that they advertise this unit as an interface for your ipod, which doesn't work with almost all the ipods out there! Then to watch videos you have to control it from the ipod sitting in your glove box? I think I may take mine back and just get a new 4 Runner with their factory unit installed. This thing is giving me a headache. Downgrade the software on my ipod 6th generation.. okay.. how? Now I have to spend all day doing that? Buy a 5th generation ipod? Okay.. why? Why didn't they mention that before I bought it. False advertising is the key words in this nothing but a headache piece of crap.

I think your complaints are a little misdirected
Ipod: Its Apples fault they changed the software used for every previous generation ipod without telling Pioneer or any other aftermarket company that they were going to do it. Its all about $ for Apple...If they can make everyone buy a $50 cable that costs them $2 to make, thats a huge bump to their bottom line. You say it doesn't work with almost all the ipods out there, thats just you being ignorant. It works with EVERY ipod, Apple just decided to screw everyone who wanted to watch movies on something besides the baby ipod screen
Bluetooth: You need to read your manual and learn how to register your phone. Then the iphone will autoconnect each time you get in the car. You won't be able to send over your contacts though because Apple put a shitty bluetooth stack in the iphone without OPP, which is required to send phonebook entries.
Inaccurate nav: Thats what you get for having CC do it. They probably didn't bother to hook up the VSS wire.

Okay, I was wrong about all ipods.. yes they work, but music only. The video only works with generation 5? Pioneer should be working with apple on this and keeping the customers updated. This is one of their "big" features.. and it only works with certain ipods? I will look over the directions, thanks for the tip, I tried everything.. i still don't think it will work right.
Lastly, I didn't mean that the gps itself is inaccurate, I mean that the discs are already outdated. It keeps telling me to turn down roads that are one way, that are not even there. It's weird. Also, I can't even get night time mode to work.. but perhaps you are right, perhaps it is all CC installation.
I don't think all my problems, however, is worth the money and time I have spent on this.
Pioneer must work with apple because their new 2008 video decks have the chip built in to allow ipods to output video. The problem with the 2007 decks is that apple surprised the whole consumer electronics industry with this "video authentication chip" bullshit. If Apple had warned Pioneer, alpine, all home audio companies, etc a year ahead of time, there wouldn't have been a problem, but Apple didn't because they are Apple.
Think about it this way, if you wanted to watch the movies on your ipod on your home TV, you would still have to buy the $50 cable. Is it your TVs manufacturers fault? FUCK NO...I mean you can go out and buy any DVD, blu-ray, HD-DVD player, VCR, Betamax machine, etc. and plug it into your tv with a very cheap set of cables and it works great.
Or is it Apples fault for making everyone need a $50 cable on top of the $300+ you already spent on the ipod just so you don't have to watch it on the 2 inch ipod screen?
PS: Take your car back to CC and tell them you want the illumination wire hooked up properly and the nightmode will work
PS2: I have sold probably a dozen D3s to people with iphones. The autoconnect works perfectly
You guys are totally right about the iphone autoconnect. My fault. I will also probably get a 5g ipod through apple refurbished to watch videos. I also need to take back the car to CC and tell them to connect that wire mentioned.
Can you guys tell me another thing. since they installed the bluetooth device, bypass doesn't work anymore. What should I tell them to get it to work again? They said they need "hours" to figure it out.
Thanks
Please guys answer my questions: Do the ipod Classic work with the N4 at all? music? video? both?....i think i am becoming crazing trying to find the anser ![]()

Music works perfectly.
Video will not unless you happen to be at firmware 1.0.2. That was many updates ago though
