How well does the iPhone mate up with the D3? Does the D3 have trouble keeping up with displaying the song/track info like the ipod touch?

Posted Sep 17, 2007 · 20:56 UTC#2

the iPhone works ridiculously well with the D3, here's my experience...

iPod functionality:

the ipod adaptor plays like normal, the controls r quick n responsive, it acts just like an ipod wen connected, n u can still hit the home button n do other functions while listening to music (i.e safari or txt). also, everytime u dock the iphone a message pops up asking if u want to go into airplane mode or not since ur listening to ipod, i always hit no so it goes away, but regardless the music streams thru right where u left off. since the ipod adaptor is just a simple cable, i made a custom mounting dock where the iPhone lies at a 45 degree angle which plugs in using a universal ipod dock n rests inside this pocket in my car.

Bluetooth functionality:

the bluetooth adaptor surprisingly worked great even wen listening to ipod or xm or anything. if ur listening to ipod n a call comes thru, it just fades out the music, pauses it, n the call comes on the screen like normal, then wen the call's over, the music picks up from b4. the only thing that sux is that it can't save any contacts only 6 phone numbers stored as the presets. but i usually call from the phone n it immediately goes to the d3, no echo whatsoever on either end.

Hope this helps you.

AWESOME! Thanks for responding!

only thing im pissed about is the lack of video output. I heard that it would be solved with a simple software update but i'm not sure. I might just hop on it and get the 8gb.

Ditto what AlpineLegacy06 said. My iPhone works great other than phonebook transfer.

Posted Sep 22, 2007 · 06:18 UTC#5

Does it charge the iphone when connected to the d3 ipod cable? Thanks!

Posted Sep 22, 2007 · 06:25 UTC#6

yep charging work fine, AlpineLegacy06 hit the nail on the head.

one way around is to sync your iphone with you computer address book - i use a mac - and then syn and use an old phone with BT that will handle the transfer and send your numbers to the D3. I'm installing my D3 this weekend and I think this will work with my hacked Verizon Razr that still has file transfer over BT enabled. A couple of extra steps but what do you think?

Are you sure it charges? Mine doesn't seem to charge. I dont see any "lightning bolt" on the battery icon or "electric plug" when I connect my iphone to my D3.

I have 1.02, what does it show on the battery icon when the iphone is connected to the cable? Does it show the "lightning icon" or the "electric plug". Thanks much!

It shows the charging indicator when charging and the charged indicator when charged. Check that the charging function on the D3 os on.

Thanks! It's working now :)

the lightning bolt icon shows up n the battery image 2. but if u turn ipod charge "off" then you'll get album art instead. to do this, go to av menu>function>ipod charge>on/off. btw, i'm also running 1.02 firmware wit heavy mods, go to http://www.modmyiphone.com 4 all ur iphone needs.

Has anyone tested this to see if it works? Can I use my old windows mobile phone to store numbers into my Avic then use my Iphone to control those numbers???? If the numbers are already stored on the Avic it should be able to transfer them to another account right?

One person said he got it to work by transferring the phonebook with his macbook but I think he was mistaken. I have tried it with my razr and it didn't work. The info will transfer from the other phone but the D3 wont receive it if that phone wasn't the one previously synced to the D3 just before sending the info.

It makes sense that syncing the contacts from another phone would NOT work, since the D3 manual and the BTB200 manual talk about how there are seperate phone books for each phone id.

Can anyone actually confirm this has worked?

tdhn: Are you sure this worked? With your iPhone accessing your other phones address book?

I was thinking of trying this myself; I was thinking the phone identifer was maybe the SIM card ID so that swapping sims would work, but it actually looks like its the bluetooth MAC?

Does anyone know if you can change the MAC of the bluetooth device in the registry of a WindowsMobile? If you could, you could change the MAC to the same one as your iPhone then use the WM device to sync the contact book?

Posted Dec 14, 2007 · 13:29 UTC#18

I cant figure out a way to upload my adress book. I tried switching my sim card into my old windows mobile phone but that didnt work. I tried putting in a CD with all the contacts info on it to see if it would somehow conect witht he BTB device and upload them there. I have had no luck. If anyone else can come up with a method that would be amazing! I would say that is the biggest flaw I have had with my iPhone.

Posted Dec 14, 2007 · 16:59 UTC#19

It wont work people. Not until Apple allows it to work.

Posted Dec 20, 2007 · 02:49 UTC#20

Actually, I'm fairly certain my above idea would work. If you look at your phone identifier on the D3 it is the Bluetooth MAC of the iPhone. So all we need to do is spoof either a WM's Bluetoth MAC that has transfered its book, or get the iPhone

Bluetooth MAC to match the WM device. Whichever is easier/do-able

The question is how, changing the MAC on a NIC is usually pretty easy, but a Bluetooth one I have never heard of.

If we figure that out we would have phonebook transfer, (well at least those with access to a WM phone). I guess any phone that someone can change the mac on would work

Well, if you figure it out and it's not above most peoples heads, lets us know.

No, the iPhone won't stream music over bluetooth

Posted Feb 28, 2008 · 02:01 UTC#25

is anybody able to browse their music on the actual iphone while plugged in? I could almost swear that I used to be able to, but now when i do it, if i press "iPod" on the phone, it says "Accessory Connected" or something. maybe im going crazy?
