  1. Yes, I've wiped the iPod and restored it with the latest updates. Then did it again two more times for good measure. Sounds identical to the problem Retic34 has...
  2. I'm REALLY hoping someone can help me out with this. I purchased my AVIC D3 with a 30 gig iPod video. Basically, I wanted a touchscreen iPod interface for my truck, so I went with the D3. Now, my iPod will no longer work with my D3, which as you could imagine is a HUGE disappointment. After installation, the iPod worked with my D3 flawlessly (including video), and I couldn't have been more satisfied. Just a few months after purchasing the pair, my iPod took a crap and gave me the dreaded sad iPod face. Since I babied my iPod and hated to exchange it for a scratched-up refurb, I o
  3. Indeed it is, but your original reply to the OP's question stated that the bypass had nothing to do with the gyro. If he had thought of that himself he surely didn't appreciate his thoughts being referred to as bullsh**. But now you seem to be stating that the bypass does have something to do with the gyro. Obviously the bypass does not hinder the operation of the gyro. It can still measure and provide user feedback for the orientation of the vehicle. The gyro is not what is being used in this case to block access to certain features of your unit while the vehicle is in motion. Therefore
  4. Actually if the OP thought of this himself his reasoning is not difficult to understand. I mean, the gyro measures the vehicle's movement. One would imagine that Pioneer would have used such a device to determine whether in fact the vehicle is in motion. I was surprised that they did not, although this obviously creates for a much more simple bypass operation.
  5. I have an 06 Silverado. You can perform the exact same bypass as everyone else. The mute wire is not "hooked up" to onstar as someone had mentioned. This is what the interface unit is for (along with retaining door chimes and power when the ignition key is removed until a door is opened). If you look at the interface, the front speaker wires are what is routed through the box. This is where the muting is done when the onstar button is pressed. When I press my Onstar button (for hands free calling) it basically turns off the D3 until I end my conversation. It's not quite like factory, but
  6. I have an 06 Silverado and I put mine in the glove box. Pretty sure you have the same glove box in yours, and it's a very short distance to feed the wire to. My 30 gig fits perfectly in the smaller compartment on the left inside the glove box. I just ran the wire to where I plug it in at, and set my ipod upside down in there. Sometimes I just have to watch as I close the glove box to make sure the wire doesnt get caught but it's rarely a problem. When I remove the ipod, I just let the cord rest in there and I haven't lost it behind the glove box yet. If that happens, the glove box drops
  7. I mounted my under the dash too, no need for silicone however, I agree that nobody wants to see it, I have my sirius antenna on top of the cab and would like to move that somewhere too, preferrably i would like to mount it by the 3rd brake light but would need to feed it under the headliner somehow, some day I'll get to it BTW, my signal status displays reception from all of the satellites shown I never trust the sticky tape. I like silicon because it doesn't fall off, but you can still remove it completely if and when you need to. I always put the satellite radio antennas outsid

  9. Well, I think that is what they tried to do with the "Vehicle Specific Wiring" forum. Although, it seems that every time I come to this site I can't help but see "VSS" plastered all over the front page. I like to come here to learn about real problems/solutions and other information that people share. I also used the abundant information on this forum to install my own D3 (in particular, the link I posted above), which is why I pass it on to others. (Even tho it was very easy to find with the Search feature).
  10. Not sure why the Search button is so hard for people to find on this forum here you go: http://www.avic411.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=9377
  11. Hey bigman got any pics? I put one in my 06 about two months or so ago. A couple snags along the way but thats usually how these things go... Not nearly as difficult as my old car that required the center console and entire dash to be removed Sounds like you were able to modify the trim piece without any problems. I made the mistake of using sandpaper to file the rough spots. The glossy D3 didn't look so hot with all those scratches next to it... Glad I did though because the next day I removed it, sanded it, and painted it with some of the flat black to match the dash surround. L
