1. Are you saying that you did get it from Pioneer? As far as I know they stopped selling it to consumers and made it a service-only part. The company on ebay makes their own version that is compatible, and (they say) better. Their customer service isn't quite as good though...
2. I'm not quite sure what you mean. The cellular mute wire is not connected to anything, which is what the service manual says to do if you don't have a cell phone to connect it to (admittedly, manuals aren't always correct...) As far as bypassing goes, I don't know if there is an internal amp in my 4Runner to bypass. The N1 was originally installed by a professional installer and it worked for over a year. I had to take it out to replace the ribbon cable and it then worked for a day or so before the sound going (although i did notice that there was some static whenever the voice alerts c
3. OK, I've disconnected all speaker cables and connected an external speaker directly to one of the front outputs. Still no sound from the speaker. I've also tried to get sound from the pre-outs, but again nothing. Any ideas? I'm going nuts... Thanks!
4. Did you ever get this working? I'm having a similar problem with an N1 in a Toyota 4Runner. It suddenly stopped working, so I don't think it's how the wires are connected. Thanks!
5. homedog329, any joy fixing that problem? I have the same issue with my N1 (a day or two after installing the latest software). All sound went dead, but no beeps or even static. Nothing out of the RCA outputs either. I've used a multimeter to check for shorts to ground or +12V on the speakers and they are OK. I've also measured the resistance across the terminals on the plug for each set of speakers to check if they had blown (no problem... 3-4 Ohms each). I haven't yet disconnected the speaker cables and connected an external speaker, but that's my next job. I don't really want to
6. Hi, My N1 (N3 s/w) has stopped producing any sound (from any source, including speech, on any output). I have read in the service manual that there is a test disc, GGV1137, that I'm hoping will help me diagnose the cause (there is a sound playback feature, amongst other diagnostic tests not found in the standard service menu). Does anyone know where I can get a copy of this disc (or provide any clues as to what might have failed? A fuse perhaps?) Thanks!
7. I have a GEX-P910XM but want to add XM Nav Traffic. Is it possible to firmware upgrade my tuner to a GEX-P10XMT, or is the only way to buy a new tuner? Thanks!
8. The ribbon cable is now unavailable at Pioneer and all of the parts stores that I have found. However, I did get one from a third party who is producing their own, supposedly improved, version. They are selling them for $70 on ebay: http://stores.ebay.com/SAME-DAY-AUTO-AU ... R-SERVICES This worked for me and fixed my problems (blank screen, some buttons on front panel not working, and then later the screen not coming out). However, as previous posts mention, be very careful about not breaking the switch. The s
9. Hi, I have an N1 that I upgraded to N3 software today. All was working fine (XM, navigation, audio prompts), except that the touch screen was not calibrated correctly (the unit had been out of the car for a few days as I had to replace the ribbon cable). So I read how to get into the service menu on this forum and calibrated the screen. The screen is now correctly calibrated but I have lost all sound. No XM, no CD audio, no prompts. Not even any static. I can't find anything in the service menu that relates to sound. Since the sound was fine up to using the service menu, I can on
