Anyways, I'm planning on installing this in my 2001 Audi A4. Do you guys know any places that make dash pieces (surround) and mounting kits for Audi's? Also, I had my Avic D3 installed by Misfit on this forum, but looks like he might not be around anymore. Do they make adapter harnesses for this unit so it's just plug n' play like they have for regular single-din head units?

i had a magellan navi unit before i bought the d3, the magellan runs on navteq... even though the processor seemed a bit low in routing and rerouting, it was almost always dead on with a quick and efficient route regardless of whether i chose "shortest distance/time" or "use only highway" etc. the d3 certainly routes and reroutes fairly quickly, but it tends to forget my car can't fly over non-driveable areas.

i don't know about pictures, but i know digi cameras like to save video in .mov format, which the d3 won't read. you have to get a converter and conver it to a format that it will read, like pure divx. i know you need to load a picture as .jpg in order to load a new background on the d3, maybe you should try that? did you try rotating through the media formats when playing the discs?

I went to a local pc richard and son and a radio shack and couldn't find good quality media (bunch of low-rate dvd+r making companies). There's a best buy, but it's a good distance away... according to the website they don't carry good quality dvd+r's either, but maybe their entire store inventory isn't on the website? maybe i'll try online, but for something so small i'd rather just go out and buy it.

I'm usually travelling in-state and so far i've had a few quirks with it telling me to make u-turns when i clearly see my destination ahead by a half mile or so... i sold a magellan unit for this thing and i hope pioneer does something to update all these problems... otherwise i'm selling and getting an eclipse or something.

i bought mine used... no manual, can someone tell me whether you have to rename the files to .divx or not?
