  1. Posted this on another thread, but when we face the inevitable car battery replacement, it will lose the following when it loses power: 1. AM/FM presets (all other including XM are saved, but not AM/FM) 2. Sound/Equalizer Settings 3. Back-up Camera Settings including parking guides Those three things will reset to default. All other settings including wallpaper, theme, LED settings, bluetooth and phone, etc. are somehow stored. If saves those, why can't it just save everything?
  2. Had my 8000 for about a month now, and car battery started to die, so had to replace it. Thought it was interesting what happened after it sat in my car for a bit while I was changing out my battery and had no power. When I first fired it up on the new battery, I immediately noticed all my FM presets were gone. Great, I thought that indicated I lost everything, only to find later that FM and AM presets were gone, but all my XM presets remained. Also, all my custom theme, audio, LED light settings, wallpaper, and so on remained. All my bluetooth phone settings also remained. Then
  3. One more thing and then I'll shut up for awhile I would like it to remember separate theme, background color, and illumination settings for the buttons when the headlights are on vs. off (nighttime vs. daytime mode). It does automatically dim the screen, but that's all. It would be cool to be able to set daytime button color to white, and nighttime to red, for example. Also, I would like to be able to choose a different color theme for the screen for daytime vs. night.
  4. I would also like some limited ability to customize steering wheel command inputs. My the channel up and down buttons will scroll through my presets, but because the preset list is sorted low to high from top to bottom, it actually skips through the presets going down when you hit channel up. It just feels counter-intuitive. I would like the channel down button to scan down the list. Also, I have to hold about a second or two for it to actually scan through the presets rather then just do a frequency scan while listing to the radio. I would like to reverse this. I would like to p
  5. Agreed! That's my beef in general with nav interface, it just seems like too many taps to do things, and to your point, end things as well, such as routes. To be clear, I am very happy with my AVIC-8000 and the navigation interface. It's pretty slick and works really well. A few tweaks like what's being discussed here would be great though.
  6. I wonder if it makes sense to start a feature request topic/thread? It's a great way to share and consolidate ideas and provide a single place for the manufacturer's engineers to look for feedback, if they so choose. Of course, as highctech pointed out in another post, we should also use their own customer feedback portal at http://www.pioneerel...neer/Contact Us. For me, two simple requests I would make, and have already made through the "Contact Us" portal: 1. Bluetooth Pairing priority determined by the order of the device list in connections menu and the ability to reorder that
  7. Good suggestion, I will contact them. I think I was looking for some validation that I wasn't missing something obvious first. One solution would be to make the pairing priority match the order in the device list, so it looks for device #1 first, then #2, and so on. Then they also need to make it so you can reorder the list, which you currently cannot do. Since my son's phone was occupying the #2 slot as the second device I paired, I tried deleting it. Now my wife's phone is in the #2 slot. Interestingly enough, when I then re-added my son's phone it went back to #2 and bumped my wif
  8. I'm curious if anyone has any insight on this. I now have three devices setup to pair with my AVIC-8000; my phone, my wife's, and my son's phone. When you go to the bluetooth connections screen, it lists them in order, my phone occupies the #1 slot, my son's is in the #2 slot and then my wife is in the #3 slot. This reflects the order which I paired the devices. I always assumed that the order in the list would determine the priority which phone would be paired if all or two of them are present, but that appears to be not the case. After running some tests, I have found that sometimes m
  9. That was definitely a bit of a challenge. I pretty much could only use one edge of the screen protector because it is pre-cut to fit an iPad which has rounded corners and the AVIC has sharp 90 degree corners. I took a piece of copier paper, lined up one corner and then used a pencil to carefully trace the other two sides. Then i taped it to a piece of thin cardboard, used a heavy metal ruler as a straight edge, and cut a cardboard template using the paper as a guide with a razor blade. Finally, once I installed it on the screen, part of the lower left side overlapped a few millimeters
  10. Almost didn't want to post these because now I realize just how filthy my dash and windshield are after looking at the pictures. Kind of embarrassing. But I think the pics give you a good idea what this anti-glare screen protector does. Recommended on another thread was the Power Support iPad mini anti-glare screen which I bought from Amazon http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00AARSPGE/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Of course, the screen is not the right size, so I had to trim it to fit the AVIC. Generally, I am pleased with the result. It does reduce slightly
  11. First post ever in the forum. I just had the 8000 installed in my Toyota Tundra on Thursday. I have not seen the 7000 to compare it to, but I do agree the screen on the 8000 is very sharp and bright. Managed expectations are in order however. Direct sunlight will create glare on any device, and this one is no exception. I am finding it is less of an issue as I get more familiar with the device and know what I'm looking at, even with the glare . I have also noticed that if i shift my viewing angle to the right as I sit in the driver's seat even a little bit, it pops a lot more.
