  1. I downloaded the "West" disc and got 7.93GB. When unzipping the "East" disc, I got 7.61GB from a 3.36GB zip file. Everything seems alright for me. I am burning the discs with Mac OS X's Disc Utility now. Hey, I'm using Mac too. Has anyone had any luck burning with the Mac I kept getting a read error after I burned my disks and put them in the D3. I'm using Mac OSX Leopard and burned with Toast. I updated my D3 using the West disc and it worked without problems.
  2. sounds like you may have had a route programmed and then ejected the disc, forcing it into memory nav mode. i bet if you went outside the city it would need the disc again.
  3. +1 here too Very annoying. I haven't figured out how to turn her off either.
  4. ya slow for me too. many times with the download speed being slower than upload. mine finishes in an hour at this rate, and i will keep seeding afterwards to boost the speeds a bit.
  5. Refer to my previous comment. Also, it does a sound a bit small for a file size considering it is supposed to ship with the N5. What's going on here, the old disks are much much bigger in file size, 7GB each for East and West, whereas these new ones are only 2-3GB? Where's the rest of the map info. Did Pioneer decide to leave only highways on the map this time. That way people have to update to get city streets and pay $200 for said "update."
  6. a torrent sounds good. let's just hope we see it. i'm not complaining though, it's not like he is obligated to give us a disk image. but he said he would, so here i wait.
  7. Torrent upload... now Coming in September!
  8. Anyone have any luck in locating the N5 discs?
  9. http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/ ... /CNDV-80MT Let's just hope they keep delaying for a good reason.
  10. Ok, seems not to be much interest in the Mountaineers (Explorers) so I will forego uploading the pics and wasting bandwidth...unless someone specifically requests them. PM me if you need help installing in a Mountaineer or Explorer as I have successfully done it now, including the dreaded power antenna everyone seems to be having so much trouble with around the net (from what I've read). Cheers
  11. I've been busy so I haven't had a chance yet to try out some new dimensions. I'll try out what you suggested soon. Hope your background works out for you. I'll post back as soon as I figure something out. Cheers
  12. Ya it is definitely more noticeable when there is a circle in the image. I'll be trying some different dimensions today and I'll report back what I find. I'm sure you can find some Mercedes logos, it's a far more popular car than Mercury, haha. Try here: http://brandsoftheworld.com/search/?act ... t=mercedes And these as well: These are only some of the nice ones I found. I used Google Image search. Plenty more out there. Hope it works out for you. Once I find the correct image size I'll post back.

  14. Agreed. Just do a direct copy of the Nav DVD to a dual layer DVD. I used a Verbatim DVD+R DL disc and it works perfectly. If you have OSX I recommend Toast, and if you have Windows I recommend Nero. Good luck.
  15. I guess it wouldn't let me attach more so here goes another post.
  16. Here are some backgrounds I made for my Avic D3 and my 98' Mercury Mountaineer. I do web/graphic design as freelance so I thought I would put my skills to some good use This is also a way for me to contribute back to this great forum. If you use them, just post a quick message and/or picture of it on your D3 (or others) and I'll be happy. PS - I saw that people are using 500x240 as the image size...but this leads to vertical stretching of the image in the Avic D3. If anyone knows the correct pixel dimensions so no stretching will occur, please let me know and I will resize the
  17. Alright, got the unit in and bypassed with everything working perfectly! Well, I haven't found the reverse wire yet but everything else is working as it should. I got my Blackberry 8100 Pearl to connect up to the bluetooth module with no problems...I was even able to transfer my address book. I took pictures of the whole process, and as promissed, they will be going up along with some tips on GPS antenna location. If any of you know exactly where the reverse wire is, or even better, have a picture for the Mountaineer '98, that would be great. I don't want to run the wire all the way
  18. For all you '98 Mountaineer owners, this might be of some help...if you have the premium "Mach" system or have the"Speed Sensitive Volume" function on your factory stereo (as mine does). Ok I have been looking through a technical service manual, and have located the VSS (+) wire coming from the GEM (Generic Electronic Module) near the center upper dash, and it does say it is Gray/Black. Also, the factory stereo has volume compensation so it increases or decreases the volume automatically depending on velocity. If this is the case for you, you don't have to go searching for the VSS wire
  19. Thanks for the quick response! Do I absolutely need the dash kit, it won't fit into the stock opening directly as the stock does? Also, the dash opening is 4"x7" exactly (I measured it) so are you sure it will need trimming, have you installed into a 98 mountaineer before? I just don't want to buy something I might not need...thanks again.
  20. Hello everyone and thanks for all the great info on this site. I recently purchased a D3 and will be installing it myself. I just have a few questions. I was wondering where can I get info on which wiring harness to use, if I need an install kit, which is the VSS wire, reverse wire, etc... I've searched the forums but haven't found anything specific to this vehicle and year. Any info and help is much appreciated. I'll post pics of the install and final results when I'm done. My D3 should get here on Monday (10/08/07)) so I would like to have everything ready so when it arrives
