  1. Just turn the car off and then back on... it is the only way I know of to reboot the NEX
  2. The instructions say you can update from SD slot or USB1, but "The only USB port that supports the firmware update is USB port 1." I used USB, myself, so I can't vouch whether or not the SD slot actually works, but the instructions say it should!
  3. It is correct for the 8000NEX. Pioneer's installation instructions even reference this mistake.
  4. Restart your iPhone, and possibly your car. This happened to me once, and doing this worked.
  5. Correct, the update sub-folder is incorrectly named AVIC5000NEX... don't worry, it is still for the 8000NEX as long as the original zipped folder says 8000NEX!!! Copy the whole AVIC5000NEX folder to an empty USB or SD drive.
  6. My phone answer and end buttons didn't work, but they are working now. I have a Maestro SW for the wheel/head unit connection.
  7. I had this problem at first, also. Try restarting your iPhone and your car.
  8. Here are the instructions... CarPlay FW Update Instructions Final_8000NEX.pdf
  9. Heads up... the icons should be more spaced out. This happened to me once, too. Restart your phone and will appear properly!
  10. Sorry guys... Dropbox has shut down my 8000NEX update links due to excessive traffic! If someone has a personal ftp server, that would be the best way to share them.
  11. Yes... CarPlay will not work if connected using the Digital AV Adapter. The Lightning cable must be plugged directly in to USB1.
  12. My Digital AV Adapter is on the end of the HDMI cable coming from the head unit. I keep it tucked under the passenger seat when it isnt being used (which is most of the time for me). My Lightning cable is plugged into USB1. If I want AppRadio, I just plug the Lightning end of the Lightning cable into the Digital AV Adapter and change my connection type on the unit.
  13. The Digital AV Adapter still works for AppRadio and video over HDMI! Granted, it isn't as elegant as it would be through CarPlay.
  14. They look good on my end, but they got a little screwed up when I switched everything over to AppRadio and then back to CarPlay... Rebooting my phone fixed that.
  15. That is correct, but I'm sure that is Apple's decision for safety reasons.
  16. I tried plugging my iPhone into USB2. Not only does CarPlay not work, but it prevents CarPlay from working on USB1 until the phone is rebooted! USB2 seems totally useless right now... Not sure if my wife will be able to play her music on USB2 through her iphone when she is in the car with me.
  17. AppRadio still works... I am an idiot (and I never used AppRadio other than to try it out when I first got the unit). Just make sure the connection type is set to Digital AV Adapter. You won't be able to set up USB1 for AppRadio and USB2 for CarPlay... The Smartphone Setup settings are universal for both USB ports. Also, CarPlay only works on USB1 for me.
  18. To clarify, AppRadio WORKS!!! CarPlay requires "Connection" be set to USB and only a lighting cable. AppRadio requires "Connection" be set to Digital AV Adapter and requires the HDMI/Lightning adapter.
  19. So I am an idiot... AppRadio DOES WORK!!!! I forgot to switch the connection type to Digital AV Adapter. I did this and it works without issue! Shows that I NEVER use AppRadio mode
  20. AppRadio isn't working for me... Can anyone else confirm if it works for them when they disable CarPlay from the "Smartphone Setup" menu???
  21. My steering wheel answer and end buttons are now working with CarPlay! I don't know what I did to fix them, but they work!
  22. did it again and it worked. I dont see other apps like Sticher or Pandora on the screen, not sure whats up with that but the rest works. On the Music app, does Album Art show for anyone? I'm thinking it is possibly there but extremely dim that it cant be seen in the sunlight. Pandora does not officially support CarPlay, but the built-in NEX Pandora app should still function. Once it is playing, the "Now Playing" icon in CarPlay shows what Pandora is playing and can be used for basic controls. Album art is there on mine, but it is VERY dim and the top and bottom of the artwork is cropp
