  1. Here is a thought, why not put an extension (I think it came with one) from the HU to your glovebox?
  2. Nav won't work no maps for it there on that unit, can't change it, Radio won't work wrong frequencies... Sell it and get the UK version
  3. I'm not sure about iGO/HERE maps, but most maps for cars are about 1-2 years behind Google big etc... but I know that even Google is not 100% up to date with Sat stuff, as where I work just had a major update to what it looks like, and google maps doesn't show the new stuff yet.
  4. That would make me think either you already have the version you are trying to install, OR, you downloaded the wrong file... Make sure you got it from here... http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Car/NEX/AVIC-8000NEX?tab=firmware
  5. They are already there... not all areas have them, in my area there is hollywood, and downtown LA , not to many other places, you might see some building images, but it's rare
  6. Ahh, your updating the Maps, I was thinking the HU OS.. I was trying to update from their site the other day, and it stopped and then kicked off the USB drive... I emailed them, still no response... I"m on Q2, so not a huge deal to get to Q3 just yet...
  7. I just looked, there is no update for it
  8. I updated my 8100 with my Mac , should be able to with the 8200 Is there even an update available for it, didn't it JUST come out?
  9. You only get the gauges with the MaestroRR (maybe the others too, but I know this one) But then the 7100 might not work because my 8100 doesn't give me gauges, the NEW ones do... I really doubt the Torque will work at all
  10. 8000 and 8100 are the same as far as the following go http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/StaticFiles/PUSA/Car_Electronics/Firmware%20Update%20Files/AVICSYNC/15AVN_FW_Update%20Instructions_16G.pdf
  11. I bought one of those AC port adapters (used to be call cig lighter port) that does the fast charge, for days I need it... otherwise, you are right, it's enough to keep it changed
  12. once, driver side I put my mic at the head rest facing foward
  13. I had my 8100 put in my new car the other day and had something like this happen.. Put the USB cable on the USB2 , pluged in the phone (that worked before in the old car) , and nothing happened after some trial and error, I used a different USB cable and IT WORKED , I'm thinking the other one my have only allowed for charging, no data... so try another cable ....
  14. My guess is that it's not hooked up correctly... double check the install...
  15. So, those of you with Fords and the Sync (1st gen) that have been waiting for SYNC 4.6, will still have to wait, BUT, it was out this weekend and then got pulled.... I think I was one of the lucky ones that got it ... it still doesn't work BUT!!! If you have the MaestroRR, I found out that you CAN do the update (when it's a good one) from the 8100 (maybe also the other units) Go to the AV menu, and pick the 'My Car' or how ever it's labeled for your Ford it should put it into SYNC - LINE IN MODE Plug your USB into the USB slot (that you used to use for the OEM HU) of your car (n
  16. Oddly enough the maps for Waze are better looking, and Google owns them, not sure why they can't share. I bought the 4100 thinking I would use the AA Maps, but they were so horrible, I upgraded to the 8100
  17. Nope, you can add the Traffic so that you see the streets better. I don't like it for normal maps, it's too washed out. I use the built in for that, and Google Maps for routes.... it's easyer to talk to it to do that... I tested and both seem to route you the same, so if you have the time to type your destination in the builtin nav, then go for it...
  18. At this point I'm not sure, maybe someone else with a similar setup can chime in? try variations till it works...
  19. Go to Pioneers site and get the manual, see if it is supposed to ... might be that old of a system (ok so it's 3 generations old) might not be as verbose as you'd like... My 8100 is talkative, but not as much as my old Kenwood 990HD , that thing talked too much sometimes...
  20. The thing I saw with my Android was that with my ipod on USB1, and the Android on USB2, I saw the icon on the lower right that was for AVICSYNC was there but not on, so pressing it it turns it on. WHen it's on, it's communicating with the server for updates to traffic etc... I never found it very useful to I keep it off...
  21. I'd say loose wire or wire that is not connected right for the brake issue look at setting for the voice options, see if it's in Verbose (the most talkative) or not
  22. the POI's at turns might be a 2015 thing... didn't have the earlyer NEX to know ..
  23. I'm not sure why the phone would say 'installed' , when it' sthe maps for the HU... remove and reinstall AvicSync from the phone , could be it needs to ask you something but isn't wiht the current install
  24. I'd call Pioneer and ask them about it.... being the unit is fairly new could be a future revision of the HU needed (1.0 to 1.1 etc).... See if anyone else down the road has this same issue Remember the phone is going out to Apple then back to you with the response , could be that through the HU it's delayed, thus the update (when it comes out)
