1. Stealing XM or Sirius will hurt the rest of us in the end. The more and more people that start stealing the service will cause the companies to have to start putting advertisements on the stations. I love the fact that I don't have to hear advertisements anymore. If this keeps up XM and Sirius will just be like the rest of the radio stations in the world... annoying.
  2. I think it was purposely made to not accept DVD MP3s, to try and counter MP3 downloading. To me it seems that the Z1 is really pushing for 'legal' CDs. The Gracenote database, only burning audio CDs to the harddrive and not alowing MP3s to be copied to the drive. Sure its a small step, only one headunit is doing this, but you never know, Pioneer might be in bed with the Music Industry. I have to admit, I have started buying CDs again, just for the ease of being able to pop the CD in, have it burn to the drive and 90% of the time the Gracenote labels the tracks. But I am probably w
  3.
But most of us have some issues with the voice recognition on the Z1. Towns are pretty hard for me, at least the ones I want, it takes me 3-4 tries at least to get it to listen and recognize the town I want (if at all). As for POI searches, I haven't gotten it to work yet. If the voice recognition is not 100% (or even 80%) I would not consider those functions available. With the way it is, the voice recognition is a cool toy or secondary feature, but I wouldn't rely on it to get to the unit's locked out features.
I completely agree, I can't imagine ge

  5.
I had my Z1 installed this weekend professionally and after I got home and registered my Sirius receiver I don't get any sound. I have sound from everything else including the Ipod adaptor. After the registration I am able to tune to any channel, browse the categories and get the on the air showing I have satellite signal. Looking at the installation diagrams it looks like there is only one cable that attaches to the head unit so I am making an assumption that the cable is attached since the Z1 sees the receiver and I can change channels. I will bring it back to the insta
  6. also check your video feed, maybe that cable got cut or came loose at either the camera box or behind the head unit.
  7.
That's possible. then again I've also seen the ground pin in the wrong slot on the power harness on more than 1 occassion. The power and ground pins diagonally opposite on yours?
Yes I checked that as well. I even opened up the unit and checked the connections going down to the actual board itself.
  8.
Might want to double check where the ground for your tuner is hooked up. I put many of both pioneer sirius tuner in and have never had to directly ground the chassis of the tuner.
I checked that as well. I have the ground attached to a bolt underneath the dash, which is attached to steal support. I used a ring terminal and made sure I removed the paint with a small dremel attachment. I metered out the PNR2 plugs gound to the the lighter sockets ground and I was getting only .4ohms of resistance, which is more than acceptable. Unless maybe in the P
  9. I don't know if people are having problems with the SIR-PNR2 (Sirius Module) but I did find something interesting while installing mine. I had mine all tucked away under the dash with some Velcro strips. I couldn't screw it in because I would never be able to get a screw driver up into my dash. So I turn on the Z1 all excited for some Sirius, but the Z1 doesn't see it. So I thought I had no power to the PNR2, but it showed I had 12VDC at the plug going into the PNR2. Checked for bent pins on the power and IP-Bus cable, but everything looked good. I took my iPod adapter of the
  10.
Generally 99 times out of 100, this problem is that the installer didn't hook up the orange/white ILL wire out of the Z1. My circuit will flash the lights for you, but I recommend finding the ILL wire in your vehicle and hooking the Z1 to it, or if you get my circuit hook my circuit to it so it automatically dims at night with the lights on.
When I had my Z1 installed at Futureshop, free install when I purchased the Z1, they asked me if I wanted the ILL wire hooked up and told me by hooking it up you could burn up the
  11.
Thank you 12VPIMPEN. I should have realized that even though the major components (audio system, instrument cluster, etc.) all use CAN bus to communicate the smaller items, like the individual indicators and switches that light up, and the speed-sensitive windshield wipers, would have discrete signals. Ok, I guess it's safe to order my Z1 now. I'm confident I have access to everything necessary to hook it up. Thanks again to all who helped.
Speed sensitive windshield wipers? I have never heard of these, what's the advantage (It's probably painfully ob
  12.
Just got my Z1 installed in my 03 Ford F350, I also hooked up ducatiboy’s flasher and it works great. But I am looking to add a wireless camera so I can see what is going on behind me when I tow. Has anyone used a wireless camera with the Z1 yet? And if so could you please provide me the details. I am towing two trailers together, a 37 foot fifth wheel and a 10 foot trailer behind that and I don’t want to have to run a 60 foot video cable to the cab of the truck.
I don't know if any of these cameras will work, but it might be a good place to st
  13.
would something like this also require an update to the Z1 software?
I hope Sirius thought this through, and used the exact same protocol that XM used so any head unit that works for XM navtraffic will also work for Sirius traffic.
  14.
Did any one else see that this one has a zip code search, MP3 and picture caller ID ????
But no satellite radio, Is there even a sat radio company in Europe?
  15. I was doing some looking around over at sirius.com and found that they offer a traffic service, much like XM's NavTraffic. It looks like its only availble with Alpine head units right now, but near the bottom of the FAQs it mentions it works with TeleAtlas maps. So I am assuming this will work with the Z1, if a module like the GEX-P10XMT was made for Sirius Traffic. This may not matter to anyone because it looks like the markets covered are the same between Sirius and XM, but what caught my attention on the Sirius system was their plans to expand to Canada. But since both services

    Z1 install

When mine was installed I too thought they didn't run those wires, but all they did was run their own wires.
  17. Is the Device Number that is displayed above the Gracenote Version number the same as my Serial Number? Or do I have to get it off the back of the unit?
  18. Sirius compresses each channel differently, so some channels have better quality then others. Howard 100 has the best quality, because it is the most listened to station. I believe Sirius Love (Chan 3) has pretty low sound quality. The best place to get any Sirius information is the forums on Sirius Backstage
