see i think the 2000mah are needed upon start up for the hard drive to spin but my friend said that the xm adpater i used which puts out 6v/1000mah is good because it makes up in volts. Either way you should be good to go sony psp oem xm/sirius adapter or hdd player adapter

yes I got it to work I will post pictures tommorow on my first post what i used to power the hard drive player was a xm/sirus cigarette lighter adapter that cranked out 6v and 1000mA. This is good enough for it and my 80b seagate hdd if anyone has any questions I will be more then glad to help. Detailed pics soon o btw, I realized that I didnt do the bypass so i just did it and works flawlessly

well since we will be reusing as phone adapter it shouldnt be a problem and we will make sure to wrap it in electrical tape

i did try it on my tv at home it worked perfectly and it also plays from an sd card the plan is that i will route the rca from the d1 and into the glove box where the hdd player will be my friend who is an expert at electronics will create a power cable for me by using the power tip and by taking apart a phone charger the great thing about this device is that it takes 5v to power it and basically that is a usb plug i dont know yet about the static from the alternator but i will keep an eye out for that tommorow some pics from my camera

i received the hard drive player today lol it took 35 days to come from china the quality is really nice and I was actually impressed will install it tomorrow and will throw pics up on here

hey king kong thanks for the advice but i gave up on putting a computer in because i had a little form linux computer and i couldnt find any drivers for it and i did buy that cable on ebay and it didnt work o well this hdd player will work and thanks to your advice i will make it easily removable because it is pretty cold here in ny especially in the morning like 20 F right now plus a full form factor computer would take up too much space in my passat and im too lazy to run cables from the trunk so thats why i want something simple in the glovebox btw got some custom backgroun

yea i actually was going to put a computer in my passat too cause i have an olpc dev board and it is really small but the problem was that it only had vga out and in order to get it to go to rca i had to buy a special converter box so that idea got trashed hopefully this hdd player will work cause i really want that 2girls1cup in my car...hahahah jp

the hdd player has rca out thus can be connected into the rca in on the d1 I will let you know how it turns out with pics but probably after xmas because the package is coming from china
