this may sound dumb... but, how does recording the serial # prevent associates from reselling their units?

i recently purchased an avic-d3 and bluetooth set to be put in my 01 audi a4. it has the factory bose speakers. people tell me it's difficult to work with. any suggestions on how to go about this? also, anyone who has done this on an a4/s4, please post pics of your system. i also need help determining the best dash kit. any help would be greatly appreciated

stellar deal, i work at circuit city and just ordered an avic-d3 for $400, bluetooth adapter for $70 and remote for $6 for my 2001 audi a4 (w/bose) this is gonna be fun to install
