OK, I found a Pioneer reverse extension wire. I measured it. The internal resistance is 1000 Ohms.

I have spent some time searching here and haven't found my answer yet, so here goes. Does anyone know the value of the resistor in the AVIC Z2 reverse sensor wire? I no longer have the original wire and am installing my AVIC Z2 into a different car. I'm sure I have a resistor that will work, but need to know the value to use. Second, can you tell me the main differences between the AVIC Z2 and the Z3? Thanks.

Sounds a little different. I had no way to get into service mode. There were no menus and the only buttons that would respond were the volume and track buttons. No menus and no way to get into them. I had to wait until the unit was cool enough to actually finish booting. It is working fine now.

Goldcylon, please look two posts above yours. We have already followed that link, and also the directions posted there. The problem seems to be that if your AVIC Z2 (or Z1) is failing to boot up it won't finish the upgrade. Just leaving the CDR in the drive will cause your unit to be ready to finish the upgradewhen it finally IS ready to boot. This seems to be temperature related; it is more likely to boot up when the entire car is cool.

My Z2 has been locking up upon bootup. I downloaded the update firmware and burned it to a CDR. I put the CDR in the Z2 and it started the update process; the process continued; it copied 92 files. The screen then said that the update had failed and that it was restarting. It repeats the "failed, restarting" message as long as it is powered up. Disc in, disc out --- no difference. Power down and power back up --- no difference. Any ideas?

When I used the CD-IB100 on an AVIC-N2 I could not use the iPod's "Album Random" mode at all. When we installed an AVIC-N3 in my roommate's car with the CD-IB100II the "Album Random" mode works exactly as it does on the iPod. I don't know if this is a difference in the AVIC-Nx or in the CD-IB... unit.

Googled for "AVIC Z2 modification" and looked on another site. A poster there said to look on "AVIC 411.com" and I tried it. Found the 2-wire bypass mod on this great site.
