My 8000 plays Flac off a 128gb ssd as it should..very well. The gps works as a gps should. I would assume the newest model does it all aswell.

Do you have an 8200??
If you read the entire thread he mentioned an 8100.

This was a brand new unit from a Pioneer retailer, eh?

Wow, more hand feeding, I just scrolled down and see a thread titled
Splash Screen Sizing....so those screens will help you find the ideal size.
do you guys even try to read other threads?
Read, try some things out. Experiment

Im curious why anyone needs the unit to shut off completely?

In my mind either the install is wrong, the camera is defective or the HU needs service.
If you have tried reseting the unit aswell as disconecting the unit from power ( perhaps let it sit disconnected overnight) and still no complete restore to factory fresh...I would send the HU in for service.

tcope paid for the maps, he included the lic files aswell as the rest that needed...surely you looked in the folder after dling.
-
Im guessing the iDatalink, you could remove it and connect the unit and see if it resolves the issue. It will give you a baseline.
-
I had my front face glass/plastic replaced last yr and have this aswell. I will likely wait till the front is scratched enough and replace again.
-
Where did you buy the unit?
-
Im really curious if there is any correlation to where the units that go back for service are from? Online...possible resellers of refurbished units or Shops selling units bought in bulk via resellers.

500gb is way to big, I'm using a 128gb ssd with 70% flac without issue. The deeper the file structure the harder it is to index. There is no need to have log files and m3u and crap in the folders. Im guessing the index was idling on that 500gb drive, I waited 4 hours on a long drive on a 500gb and gave up.

Perhaps disconnecting from the power source and leaving it disconnected overnight might hard reset the unit. If that doesnt do it, service time.
-
I would take it back to the installer and explain the problem and he will fix it up.

I Installed a AVIC 6100NEX last Friday in my 2015 Subaru WRX. The install went fine, very happy with the unit. I knew about the AVIC software bypass, but I purchased a triple pulse bypass from a EBAY retailer with a very high feedback score just to cover all my bases. This bypass was wired as instructed, Green to AVIC green parking brake wire, Black to Ground, blue to blue/white AVIC System remote control wire. All connections soldered, shrink wrapped, continuity tested, etc. On first power up I initiated the AVIC software bypass, which worked as people have described , AV off, press lower left corner of AVIC screen for 15+ seconds- "Set on" message appears. Can do all functions and watch DVD's while driving. Have had periodic "Detected parking brake wire not properly installed" message at least once a day. I did an experiment today. I turned off the software bypass and noticed while driving, many of the Nav functions are greyed out, some of the Settings menu items were also greyed out, for example picture adjustment. The interesting thing is, when you come to a complete stop these greyed out menu items turn white and can be used irregardless of setting the e-Brake. When you start to move, they grey out again. I am not sure if I have a defective triple bypass chip, or the AVIC knows you are moving and would override any hardware bypass unit. In any case I will continue to use the software bypass. I am going to email the seller of the bypass for his feedback and insight, and will share with you all. Has any one else experienced this behavior on their AVIC? I wish I could get rid of the parking brake wiring problem message. I know I could actually wire the Parking brake wire as instructed by Pioneer, but it seems the AVIC senses when the car is moving irregardless of the Parking brake status.
Install the unit with the parking wire and remove the bypass, software bypass and enjoy. Why are you trying to fight what's already working.
