  1. The phone autoconnects... but then then if I go to "Phonebook Transfer" in the D3, it just disconnects from my phone. And then I have to manually reconnect the two through "direct connection."

I am assuming your phone is registered with the BTB because it autoconnects.

Without getting too detailed here.....It's supposed to do that. That's when you do your transfer.

So give it another try, when it "disconnects" transfer contacts however the BB transfers.

  2. About the D3 and its user friendly design......I am VERY savvy when it comes to technology. I have been amazingly frustrated with the D3.

I hear ya. I like to think I am pretty savvy also and have experienced the same level of frustration. The manuals are terrible (screen shots in manual do match my D3 though). It has taken some time, some tweaking and some learning but I now love the D3. Especially compared to that clunky 6 CD changer that came with the truck. BUT don't get me started on the Navi!!! I don't even use it other than a sort of database for searching addresses and phone numbers. Other than that it pretty much stinks.

And you are welcome. Glad I could help.

  3. I have a verizon LG EnV and was able to connect the phone but it will not allow me to register the phone. The only way I can even use the blooth feature is to dial manually. And I have to connect it each time. Anyone have any suggestions?

Ok, here is something dumb. When you are at the register screen (when your phone is connected, of course lol) You need to press and hold the first (soft key) position until your phone name populates that position. Kind of like setting a radio station preset on most stereos. If you have done that please post back with a little more specifics.

Also make sure that your phone permissions is set up to allow connection with the BTB.

As far as arcuhtek's post above, please do follow his link and read on further. Good info but IMO a little misguided and it is simply because this whole bluetooth and Verizon thing is complicated. I mean no disrespect to brother arcuhtek.

    Peace! Two fingers. V

  4.

    2. Verizon does indeed intentionally block wireless data transfer via bluetooth so they can make more money selling ringtones, etc (thus preventing people from buying them and sharing). .....Verizon is involved in a lawsuit..... wireless transfer will be allowed within the 2008 year.

    3. She also mentioned about 4-6 phones which were produced with wireless transfer "allowed," one of which was the Blackberry Pearl. She acknowledged that my phone the V325 does not allow my telephone book to be transmitted to the D3.

    4. Now that the bluetooth power on function has been properly set up, I h ave successfully been able to get into my truck and within a minute or so, have the D3 acknowledge the V325, and connect to it with no additional work.

I am very happy about that, but I am sorely disappointed that there is no way to edit the name of one of the 6 presets. IMO, the lack of ability to edit/add a name/label to any preset is just pure failure.

Thank you to all those that responded.

Dude! I found your manual for a Motorola V325 online and it looks like you are lucky to even have BT! In fact I can't even find anything pertaining to BT in the manual. I hate to say it but that is one of the most basic phones I have seen. How old is it? I pretty much suggest a new phone.

EDIT: I now found the manual for a Motorola V325I which is what you must have because the 325I does have BT whereas the V325 does not. The manual also notes that you DO NOT have OBJECT PUSH so you will not be able to move any contacts from your phone to the BTB.

But I would like to touch upon a couple things you mentioned in your last post. (I have edited in the interest of shortening this post.)

    2. Verizon has already sent mailers out mentioning that they are graciously opening their BT because markets, etc. have changed and they are happy to serve! The "crippling" of BT had mostly to do with transferring products purchased through VCast etc. like ringtones and music. What that "opening" actually means to the consumer remains to be seen.

    3. OK. My LG VX8600 (which is almost 2 years old..and flashed), wife's BB 8830 (new), neice's LG VX 8800 (new) and a couple others I forget (all verizon), The BB Pearl and whtcrxghst's Motorola and a bunch more on this site (all verizon) all work just fine. Is that the 4-6 your friend mentioned? My point is that different models of Verizon phones do pair and transfer contacts but, in my experience, none of them will transfer ringtones or music to other phones (which are completely different file types then contacts), this is what I am sure your friend was talking about.

And as far as her acknowledging your phone does not allow your phonebook to be transmitted is a shortfall of your phone due to it's technology, not Verizon's BT policy. EDIT: Once again because your phone does not have the OBJECT PUSH profile.

    4. YAY!!!! At least something good came from all of this.

As for the last statement quoted......Welcome to Pioneer's AVIC D3. This hyar unit is one of the most un-intuitive devices ever made. We have become so used to things kinda just working and easy to figure out. This thing is not. And the manual....OY VEY! I own a PIO 50" Plasma Tv and it is one of the most beautiful things I have ever owned. I am just blown away the same company made the AVIC D3.

I can definitely feel your frustration but your problems are due to a learning curve and your phone's functionality in regards to BT. You have got to be getting close to the end of your 2 year contract so when that happens get a new phone and I am sure things will go much better and if you run into problems you can come here and I am sure somebody can help you out.

    Peace! Two fingers. V

  5. I tell you, each time I get into the truck, I have to turn on the cell phones bluetooth function, then I have to make the cell phone discoverable, then I have to hope the D3 autoconnects......so far it has not

The above statement makes me go hmmmm.

    1. Are you turning the bluetooth (BT) of your phone off and on everytime you enter/exit the truck or is the phone doing that itself?

...Maybe it's me but I always have my BT on on the phone. It should be ON before you start your truck.

    2. You also have to set your phone up so that when the BTB-200 tries to shake hands with your phone that your phone does not need to authorize. In your phone's BT menu highlight the Pioneer BT Unit2 and find something like INCOMING SECURITY and set that to ALWAYS CONNECT. Or something similar, I am not familiar with Motorolas.

While you are there check your BT profiles. You need object push in order to get contacts over to the BTB. If your phone is older you may not have that profile. You should get your phone flashed and the newest BT available to your model will be updated to your phone and hopefully it will be there. Or buy a new phone like you are thinking.

Also I am assuming you have your phone registered in the first spot of the register list.

People don't seem to realize you have two things you are trying to connect and you have to set both up.

And as whtcrxghst said. It simply is not possible to add text to any phone number you manually punch into those 6 spaces. But if they are in your phonebook then the name does populate it.

alot of verizon phones have problems connecting to the bluttoth. im pretty sure very few even allow you to use all the functions of the bt in the d3

I think it is more accurate to say that Alot of PEOPLE have problems connecting their phones to the bluetooth for various reasons. I have connected several different model Verizon phones and moved contacts. With my phone connected I do have battery and signal strength. As far as "all the functions" the only thing I can think of that I may not have is call logs and the like (I do have Placed Calls functioning) and I could not care less. I think everybody has problems with the voice dialing because of no prompt sounds over the speakers but it does work, you just have to look at your phone to see if the phone got the right contact (or at least I do). And I have heard of only one person that actually has actual assigned ringtones play over the system. Now who was that?

  6. First off I would also like to welcome you to Seattle. Hope you like the weird ass weather we have.

Isn't it funny though? I have a D3 with the BTB-200 and I can't complain at all. It is works flawlessly as far as call quality. I also have the iPod connection which I would prefer to be a little easier to use as far as searching but I am cool with leaving it on random play and just going with the flow. Or I use playlists for particular moods and random play those also.

    .

BUT....if usable/accurate Navi is one of your criteria for purchasing a unit I would steer way the hell away from the D3. I hate to say that but as you have read it is pretty much awful...."turn left, do a u-turn, turn left again, you are now back where I told you to turn left in the first place.....consider yourself lucky I did not make you drive 3 miles then u-turn". I did not buy it for the navi so I am ok for the most part. I pretty much use the navi to search for addresses/locations and phone numbers, kinda like a database. But then I know the area for the most part. My wife's Garmin is far better and alot easier to use.

    .

I also feel for you on your commute. YOW!! Sounds like you need to move to the Eastside, especially if the all knowing state govt. slaps a toll booth on 520.

  7. I have both a mac and a PC and I hate to say it but there is nothing that I know of on the Mac that is included with the OS that will do what you want it to do, I still have Tiger 10.4 BTW. Same with the PC, although I read somebody used Paint for a background.

Optimally you would want Adobe Photoshop or something similar but those programs are complicated and expensive. I have Photoshop 7.0 on my PC and that is how I go about my backgrounds.

I have seen alot of 350Z backgrounds already made. Look around and see if you like any of them. If not ask for one to be made.

But if you still have that creative bug biting you you could download a free trial of Adobe Photoshop CS3, read the tutorials within this forum (pretty easy to do) and start creating backgrounds like a madman before the trial runs out.

  8. so you just took it to the verizon place and asked for a software update for bluetooth??? was it free?

My verizon LG phone wont transfer any #'s, whenever I got to phonebook transfer it just disconnects the bluetooth connection and wont connect back til I turn off the D3 and turn it back on

Not knowing which LG you have but knowing LG's I suggest this:

FIRST AND FOREMOST. Go to MENU --> SETTINGS AND TOOLS --> BLUETOOTH MENU. With "Add New Device" highlighted hit options button and choose SUPPORTED PROFILES.

If you have OBJECT PUSH as a profile you should be able to transfer contacts.

When you go to the phonebook transfer screen it is supposed to disconnect. It is at that point you are to do transfer from the PHONE TO THE BTB (just be clear here that the D3 is just the visual interface) and there is no START button as pg. 15 in the manual says there is.

On the LG's there are two ways to transfer. If you have a newer phone then tr:.

    1. At the D3 Go to the transfer screen. Your phone will disconnect.

    2. If your phone has this option go to a contact in your contacts, hit option (or something similar), choose SEND NAME CARD via bluetooth, choose the "Pioneer BT unit2" The phone should start working on it and then the D3 screen will acknowledge receipt.

If that does not work then:

Go To Tools and and settings choose bluetooth as you did when checking for profiles.

    1. Highlight the Pioneer BT Unit2 and select options and find SEND NAME CARD.

That should get you hooked up. You may have to do each contact one by one.

  9. I though my next trick is to try a friends phone and see if that works. If it does I am going to input my sim card in his phone, send the phone book the put the sim back in my phone.

I think I have heard of that working. But you have to make sure you are doing things correctly with any phone, particularly #1 below.

I just went out to my truck and did a few transfers to refresh my memory. I have to do them one by one.

    1. Is your phone registered with the BTB?

....It must be registered in order to transfer phonebook.

The phone will not reconnect to send name card and when you try it just says connection failed.

    2. Are you trying to initiate a reconnect with "Pioneet BT Unit2" from your phone once your phone notifies you that it has disconnected? If so...Don't. Just mark a name card and send it. When you are in the phonebook transfer screen it does not say that you are disconnected on that screen. Only the phone registers that fact.

....This is supposed to happen and you do not have to initiate a reconnection at any point. Nor is there a "START" button on that screen like pg. 15 of the manual says there is.

    3. Does your phone autoconnect when you turn the vehicle on?

....The phone has to be setup so that it does not ask for permission to connect/pair with the BTB and if yours is not setup that way then I would think any kind of transfer would fail. But if it does autoconnect then that would also mean that the phone is registered because the BTB searches for your phone on power up to connect with it.

If none of that helps you out with your phone and you swap your SIM out with a friend's phone make sure you register the friend's phone (which would look like you because of your SIM???).

You also did not say which method you were trying. It just sounds like you keep trying to reconnect the phone.

  10. Yeah I know but I did not want to rip into my truck. I bought the D3X which has the BTB-200 bluetooth module with iPod connector for $999, I also had them throw in the steering wheel controller. It all totaled around $1400 with install and tax. I went to the Lynnwood Car Toys. The first unit was a POS and I eventually had them replace it at no cost. It was a huge pain. Just be aware if you are buying this unit for GPS, it pretty much sucks.

  11. HiFiSi: You can bite me twice on Sundays, too...and stop sending me private messages on here soliciting gay sex. I'm not homosexual.

But you want him to bite you? TWICE!? That is kinky. Who Sounds like he has a deep seated homosexual fantasy?

    .

Sounds like time for a new topic because I am getting vaklempt here:

Hedge Hog. It's neither a hedge nor a hog.
