I just installed my d3 in a 2008 Audi A4. I put the nav antenna in the sharkfin, all satellites right from the start. It's not terribly difficult to put it there, and I think it's worth it.

I've got a factory bluetooth module and want to try to use it with the D3. It seems to have all the correct outputs. What happens to the audio input on the D3 when the Mute wire is grounded? Can I program it to automatically select the line-in on the RCA cable? That way I could use my factory Bluetooth audio output and connect it to the AVIC-D3 audio input and the tel-mute to the AVICs mute wire. Any ideas? Only reason, is the BT implementation in my car (Audi A4 08) is pretty nice with instrument cluster display that's there and I'd like to keep that if possible.

Is the VSS wire on the D3 an analog or digital input? (my '08Audi A4 has an analog output from the vehicle, I believe) Also, is the reverse signal just +12v or nothing - i.e. on or off? Same question for illumination. Reason I'm asking is because I don't want to have to buy another CAN BUS adapter just for these wires (which I do want to hook up).
