  1. Hey Guys,

I've been using Apple carplay for almost a year now with my 4200nex.  But have recently switched to android auto.  I'm using spotify and i can't scroll down my playlists more than 3 times without it asking me to put the car in park.

The microbypass is working fine as i can watch videos while driving, though i don't for safety reasons.

Anyone else come across this??  Never a problem with apple carplay.

  2. Like i said, it's your car harness which is F'd.  You probably blew a fuse or fried a wire.  Use a multimeter to check for voltage at the pins (on the car side) that would have 12v with ignition on and off.

Like i said, on the bench, put both wires to 12v(twist them together) and it should turn on, assuming you wired the black to ground already. That's the way it should be on the bench.  The yellow wire is the main power, the red wire is just a turn on signal for the radio.  When the red wire see's 12v the radio will turn on, but the yellow wire is where the radio actually draws power.

  3. Update on this.

Well I removed my radio and had it on my bench , I attached a 14.4v power supply unit to the radio and it still would not power as it would be connected to the car.

It will only power with the red and yellow power wires ran together. I have tried every configuration you can think of and that is the only way it will work. I reinstalled it in the car with constant and ACC connected and had to put a switch on ACC which now keeps my radio settings and allows the unit to power off.

The car has a standard ISO connection, no fuses blown or anything. The radio was simply removed just to swap out a faulty Apple wire and placed back in.

Both the red and yellow wire should have 12v.

I'm questioning "AS IT WOULD BE CONNECTED TO THE CAR"???  The yellow wire should have 12v all the time and the red wire should have 12v when you turn the ignition key.  But both should have 12v to turn on.

On the bench, just attach both wires to 12v and it should power.  One of your wires on the car harness is probably fried or a fuse is blown.  Use a multimeter to check.

  4. I had my HU(Avic6200) installed

Most likely when your installer wired the head unit, they wired it so it's powered from the 12v reverse signal wire.  So the camera only has power when the truck is in reverse.  It's not your installers fault, most documents including metra say to wire it this way.

When i installed my HU, i wired camera power from the 12v ignition wire.  So the camera always has power when the car is on.

  5. I use a Raspberry PI3 running Xbian.  I also have a "Auto-resume" script installed which remembers the last 10 seconds of a video played, and automatically resumes the movie within the last 10 seconds.  This is a godsend for any parent trying to make a bunch of small trips. I don't have to do anything, i just strap the kids in and drive.  The raspberry pi does the rest and automatically starts playing.  I only have to touch the remote when the movie is finished and they want me to pick another one.

The raspberry pi is also perfect for this because it uses so little energy and runs off a simply 5v usb plug, and xbian only takes about 16 seconds to boot, almost as fast as the NEX.

I'm using the OSMC remote control which worked right out of the box and is perfect for the vehicle (rf and less buttons).

  6. I'm using a raspberry pi3 with Xbian installed, which is a flavor of Kodi.  I've found that the highest resolution the my 4200nex would allow is 576p.  You can see if you have that resolution available on your mibox, if not, a lower resolution like 480p works as well.

Also, in kodi, there was a setting to allow video's to play at their native resolution, i had to turn that off so it sticks to the 576p resolution when i play a video.
