  1. I moved the RCA ground to the HU chassis last night and that seemed to fix most of it. There is still a very slight whine that can be heard when the HU volume is turned down, but much more tolerable now. I guess I need to send my HU in for repair to fix the real problem. Thanks.
  2. I installed it in the trunk (the amp end) and grounded to the chassis. I will implement your suggestions this afternoon. Thanks, and I'll update this thread this evening.
  3. http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-Petra-Keystone-Insert-RCA-Jack-A-V-Connector_W0QQitemZ150252949296QQihZ005QQcategoryZ61395QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem I removed the connector from the wall plate insert, slid a ring terminal on the back, secured it with a nut, grounded it, plugged my RCAs from the HU into one side, and ran a set of RCAs from the other side of the connector to the amp. This is not original with me. I found it in the link someone posted above.[/url]
  4. I bought the RCA inserts, grounded them, and ran my subwoofer RCAs through them before going to the amp. The whining noise increased exponentially. Does this mean that my engine whine/noise is being introduced from the chassis? What do I look for?
  5. I never figured it out. Posted on the Lexus forums too with no response. I ended up bypassing the factoring amp and installed a separate amp to power the sub. Not what I was hoping for, but...
  6. What if you're only trying to power a sub? I'm using the speaker outputs from the Z2 to power the door speakers...and am only trying to use the subwoofer output RCAs to power my subwoofer's amp. Is there a solution for me? Thanks.
  7. In my case, I have tried 2 different sets of RCAs (both Monster cable). My power wire from the battery is run along the driver's side of the vehicle in the channel under the door sills. My RCAs, XM IP-Bus cable & amp remote turn on wire are routed along the passenger side of the car under the door sills.
  8. Have you been able to resolve this issue? You described my current situation with my Z2 perfectly!
  9. A local stereo shop installed my Avic-Z2 last night...almost. Unit comes on, navigation works, steering wheel controls work, but no sound. Installer used Metra harness 70-8113. It is not listed for my car, but seems to have all the right wires and the 20 pin connector is correct. We can't tell whether the amp is powered on or whether the sound is muted. Anyone done this install and been able to use the stock amp? I know I can bypass the amp and just grab the speaker wires coming out of the amp, but I would lose the factory sub. I was hoping to retain use of the factory amp f
  10. Sometimes I have audio, sometimes I don't. Not really any rhyme or reason. For example, when I was leaving the house for work this morning, I started the car, head unit came on...but no audio. Turned the car off, turned it back on, head unit came on...audio is fine. I am using the speaker outputs (not using the amplifier outputs). All of my speaker connections are good. I am not having trouble with any particiular speaker. I either have sound from all the speakers, or I have no sound at all. Is this a common problem with these units? Thanks, Scott Unit is installed
