    CD-SR1 review

Well I'll be damn. My remote is behind door number 2! It appears I have the CD-SR11. Well that could explain why im having such a pain in the ass time with my remote and the voice command doesnt work. What a waste of $25.

    CD-SR1 review

Inferno I would have to agree. The remote just plane SUCKS. I can't even get a couple of the buttons to work at all - one is the voice command button. Now with the directional buttons I have to literately smash down on the button for it to work. Problem with that is I have to hold the back of the remote when i do that so it doesn't slide around on my wheel. Seriously this thing is a pos and it now resides in my glovebox collecting dust. O and if its sunny outside - forget about it, this damn thing only worked at night....
  3. Sounds like best buy ripped you off .... Anyhow how are you liking the Nav so far?
  4. Yeah its kinda strange because when I do the Macy's search it does find a Macy's hair salon about a couple hundred miles away but not a huge department store... odd Guess nothing is perfect and thats why I have a computer if my avic cant find it.
  5. So my gf works at Macy's right. Her Macy's is located in a mall. Also in the mall is a Target and Walmart. So while messing around I tried to find Macy's in the POI search, nothing. Ok, lets try Walmart, nothing. How about Target, still nothing. Ok lets try one last thing. How about the mall itself. So I put in "Grossmont" couldnt put in Grossmont Mall because the M was not highlighted. You would think with the millions of POI's it would find Walmart or Target or at least the mall itself. What gives? I found Best Buy ok. I dont know, maybe I'm doing something wrong....
  6. Even better than chaning your genre would be to create playlists. You can have itunes or winamp create smart playlists. I use winamp to have it put every artist that starts with "y" into a playlist.... better more effective way without messing up your tags.
  7. wire strippers/Crimpers Phillips Screwdriver Flathead Screwdriver Wire ties Wire connectors - twist or crimp - I prefer twist Electric tape (maybe) Wire harness - Probably already have it with aftermarket deck already in Metra Double DIN ISO kit 99-9999 Chances are if your Car has a double din Slot for the deck and your current slot is single DIN - you dont have the proper brackets which this kit does. If your opening is something other then Double DIN. Head over to Fry's and get the proper kit for your vehicle. Head over to a car parts store - Kragen or something and get a electr
  8. I live in San Diego / La Mesa area and shopped around. The cheapest I found for just the head unit was $150 then it goes up from there: Ipod adapter $45 XM / Navtraffic receiver $85 Bluetooth $40 Seriously the prices are ridiculous. If you read through the install instructions its not all that hard. The only thing you might have a tough time with is the VSS wire. I installed the unit myself in about 3-4 hours and paid a installer at Best Buy $20 to hook up my vss wire. I will install whatever you have for between $75-$150 depending on the difficulty of the install - You might
  9. Well go figure the navigation is a female. Seriously she likes to talk, a little to much. Here's the deal. If I'm traveling from one end of town to the other and mostly taking one highway she feels the need to tell me every mile or so which way to go. For example I'm on highway 8 and my exit is 10 miles away about every mile or 2 she says "1 1/2 mile ahead stay on highway 8. So I say back to her, well no shit, my exit isn't for another 8 miles. She then graciously responds "stay on highway 8". My point is is there a way to program her to only tell me my turns, exits, etc. I don't need
  10. I just want to say thanks to everyone that has helped me in the process of getting and setting up my new nav system. This has been a great resource with very friendly and helpful people. I decided to go with the avic-z2. Received the unit and installed it last night in the dark. What can I say im as impatient as a 2 year old . Everything is working great so far and I love the unit. Now I just have to hook up the Reverse lead and vss wire. Thanks again everyone for all your help!
  11. OK this is for anyone else that might need more info for this vss wire. The ECM is located behind the glovebox. You dont need to remove the glovebox to access the ecm. Stick your head underneath the glovebox, remove the vent, it pulls out and viola, theres your ECM. I attached the wiring diagram so you know exactly what wire it is. Thanks for all your help guys! 30-1312_connection_diagram.pdf
  12. That is the right location for it if the car is a manual tranny. PIN 86 DJKMS be more specific so I can get the right wire, Manual ? AUTO? GT? GTS? GS? spider with sportronic or without? 2003 mits eclipse spyder GTS 5 sp manual trans.. thanks
  13. Now its behind the glovebox, this just gets better and better!
  14. So I have conflicting places to find the vss wire for my vehicle. One place says some wire near my tranny. Another place says use the wire behind the speedometer. Yet another place says behind the center console. Where is the easiest place to find this elusive VSS wire. I would prefer not to go through the firewall if I dont have to. Thanks for your help!
  15. Thanks for your reply. As far as the ipod is concerned I use playlists mostly so I dont think speed is going to be much of a factor. I have seen screenshots of the ipod control for the d3 but not the z2 - If anyone has screenshots that would be great. The price is not much of an issue for me as is the functionality of the unit. Im leaning towards the z2 for the voice command factor and text to speech however, I dont want to be frustrated with slow ipod controls and unresposive voice commands What is leaning me towards the d3 is video from ipod (I have a few music videos on my ipo
