  1. Why doesn't someone make a torrent already. Give these guys a break. If I could get these damn things to un-rar without errors, even with WinRAR 3.80, I'd do it myself.
  2. CC employees pay 40% of markup. Had the policy in front of me today. (Was buying some headphones and was just curious)
  3. Damn near any auto manufacturer charges $199. Mazda just released one for my car. Wadda know. $199. But auto manufacturers have been raping people for their money since the dawn of time. Just paid $58 for a friggin 12"x4" foam seal that I installed myself. They know you don't have a choice. If you own a Mazda, where else are you going to get the updates? No where. If Tom Tom charged $199, I'd throw that piece of crap in the garbage and buy a new Garmin. Point being, I realize maps are not going to be free. I just feel $150 is far too stiff for something like this.
  4. Why you're taking it personal... I have no idea.
  5. Firmware updates should be absolutely free. If there's errors in the operation of my unit, it should be fixed for free regardless of age. The same way vehicle recalls are free. Map updates are bound to cost money. They've put in extra work to update the map database. That's got to be worth something. $150 is pretty friggin stiff though. I can almost get a new Garmin handheld with 08 maps for that price. 50 bucks is reasonable.
  6. Someone bought the discs and made a torrent for the West Coast disc. We have people on this board who have purchased the disc pair..... so why is there still no East Coast disc torrent?!?
  7. It may not be bad in your eyes.... but look at the poster before you. Exact same item for hundreds less. So when someone comments that they ordered through Crutchfield "and got the rebate instantly" (in a rollingeyes smart ass tone) .... hear me when I say, he paid out the nose. Not "got his rebate instantly".
  8. I better just keep my mouth shut.... http://www.avic411.com/forum/viewtopic. ... leshooting
  9. Set it as low as it will allow, then resize them on your PC.

I show Dark Green/White at the throttle control at top of engine. For your car....
  11. I'm not reading all the replies.... so I may restate something already said, but I show Yellow wire at C2 connector on PCM. Pin #54 on Automatics and #70 on Manual trannys.
  12. ^^^ It's keeping the aspect ratio so your pictures don't look stretched. The D3 is widescreen and your pictures are all standard 4:3 format. You need to crop some off the top and bottom. I'm having mixed results. The pre-sized pics I get off here all work great. But the others, I use Irfanview to shrink them to 500x240 or whatever it is.... and the D3 just makes them real small centered on the display. Any ideas? EDIT: I figured out what the problem was. The picture must be EXACTLY 500x240. Not a single pixel bigger. I was trimming and cropping the hell out of some pictures....and well
  13. First, insert your keys into the ignition with the driver's door open. Listen for the door chime. Put your ear to the driver's speaker. Is it coming out of there? If not, you may not need any of the special harnesses they are selling you. If so, read on. You already have the GMOS-LAN-01? You have OnStar? If not, the regular GMOS01 should do fine. And actually in most vehicles requiring the GMOS01, you don't NEED it. It just creates an "ignition" wire behind the headunit and retains the door chime when you leave your keys in the ignition. Who cares. Get the ignition from elsewhere and ditch the
  14. Frickin easy as hell IMO. He's ripping you off hardcore. First, Circuit City will install the D3 for $175 after tax. Maybe another $30 for the steering wheel controls. (Might throw it in depending on the installer) www.pac-audio.com/swixprogramming (scroll to bottom and select your car) red to ign power black to ground ONE other wire to your vehicle. (if you tell me the year, make and model I can look it up for you) About 60 secs to program. Boom. $80 saved
  15. Actually, I have been pretty impressed with both from first hand experience. In my eyes so far.... from my experiences..... they're dead even.
  16. Yeah.... and you paid out the nose for it before the rebate. Don't think anybody will be posting here anytime soon. The offer just started basically. It'll probably 10 weeks easy for even the first person to get theirs.
  17. Would the switch be to a ground or open condition? Open. One side of the switch = illumination lead from D3..... the other side = +12V ignition. You flip the switch and it puts +12V on the illumination wire. It's not rocket science here people....
  18. This is not the case with every car. Several installs I have done, we have to back the car out of the bay so the headlights will turn off and the D3 will switch into day mode.
  19. Profile certainly isn't quality.... but there is worse out there. For future reference, you can't always depend on the posted rated power an amp has. Cheap amps tend to over-state their power rating. Funny how we can get a 1000W amp for $50 and some other 1000W amp for $500 huh?
  20. I've done this many time before too. Nothing "permanent"
  21. Hahaha This is hilarious! If you could mod up a way to keep the velcro off your dash when not in use.... it'd be awesome! My insurance covers aftermarket equipment on/in my car. If it gets stolen, it's covered. Sure it sucks, but I've been lucky so far. EDIT:Oh damn... there's already a topic on here about a similar deal without velcro...
  22. I think you have that backwards. "Night mode" makes the screen darker. So turning the unit to day mode at night would yield a damn bright display at night. I haven't had a ton of play time with the D3, but I've installed probably 60 of them. If it DOES have a day/night switching feature in the software, that would be easier IMO. If it doesn't......then use a switch. The unit looks for +12V on the illumination wire to switch into night mode. Your daytime running lights keep +12V on this wire at all times. A simple toggle switch will break the connection preventing +12V from reaching the D3. T
  23. A little ghetto faceplate removal security....
  24. The Pioneer reverse feature screwup is worse yet IMO.... and the piss poor "troubleshooting" really tops it off.... Sorry, but somebody like that doesn't deserve to be near car electronics.
