does the orange/white wire that is needed for this get plugged directly into the back of the z unit? my cc installer last night didnt do this right either.

i sent the unit to circuit city for repair since i took a 3yr warranty. they told me it couldnt be fixed. that was 2 weeks ago. it finally arrived back at their store yesterday. at this point, its not worth me sending it out again to pioneer for $200. my only exchange option would be to get the F900 which i dont want. CC does not carry the z series anymore, therefore i cant get a replacement unit.

well - believe it or not ... the stupid unit will not play any type of dvd. i stick a dvd in the player - it says "checking disc" and then says "unreadable disc" ... havent the faintest idea why - i even sent the unit back to CC where i bought and they couldnt fix it. so its not worth the hassle anymore just for that.

i have room in my gmc yukon to add the following dvd player http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp ... 8014503253 can this be run through the z1/z3 unit? since i cant play dvd's through my z1, i was thinking of getting a unit that i can have installed to play dvd's with the bypass active on the z, would i still be able to play dvd's while the car is in motion and watch it on my z screen?

at least you can play original dvd's... i cant play any dvd's ... if you still have a warranty on your unit, assuming u didnt get it at CC, then you could send it in for repair ..but not sure how much luck you'll have repairing it ..

i cant play dvd's in my unit at all ... dont know why that is. bought it from CC in 2006 and it did play dvd's at one time but then just suddenly stopped. if your unit is out of the 1yr warranty, pioneer told me that it would be $200 to send it to them. i would love to swap mine out with the same model but not sure if that will work real well.

yes i read that on the net today. my unit should be back in the store today or monday. once i get i'm not sending it out anywhere. 2 weeks without it and nothing was done with it. CC customer service sucks and they were completely useless. the installer i used at best buy to install my camera was much better than cc. he even fixed mistakes that cc made when i had my unit installed originally back in 2006.

the link you sent is the actual dvd/cd player for the z series? i'll certainly find out if they can. my z1 is on its way back to the CC store so when it arrives, i'll go in and ask them about it.

i'm using the audiovox cmos1 backup camera for my pioneer avic z3. works great on my gmc yukon.

yes Pioneer told me i could send it to them for $200. i really dont want to do that . I can play music cd's just fine and yes it will rip right the library w/o any problem. have you or anyone ever cracked open one of these things ? i'm curious if the dvd player can actually come out? if only cc carried the z3 , it would solve my problem.

they can only replace what they carry. since they dont carry the z anymore, they can only replace it with an F ... I spoke to them today and told them to just give me the unit back. its not worth the hassle anymore. if i cant play a dvd, then so be it. at least i can still use the gps, ipod and xm. the dvd would have been nice for when my kids are in the car. i guess i can get an external dvd player and hook it up to the z somehow

i spoke to a rep at cc corporate today. according to them, they wont carry it because its now older technology and are only carrying the F series. i guess you could probably hook up an external dvd player to the z1 and play dvd's that way. not sure how u would do that though. maybe use the aux or any of the other free inputs the unit has available

Yes definitly go with the z3 if you can. i have a z1 upgraded to a z3 and it rocks. btw - may i ask which circuit city you are dealing with? i have a similar situtation that i'm in right now but with mine ihave sent my unit in for repair which they cannot fix . i've asked CC to search which store still carries the z series and want my local circuit city to know which store still has it. you are welcome to private msg me if you'd like ... thanks Jamie

true - i just didnt want to have to fork out any of my money on this. if they cant find a z in any of their stores across the US, then i'll demand my unit back. if they tell me that they cant give me my unit back for whatever reason, then they're gonna give me what i paid for it (or close to it) and i'll go out and get a new one. what a pain in the neck this whole thing is. they probably never even sent that unit back to pioneer for repair.

I thought i would upate on the progress of this. So I called Circuit city yesterday (friday) to check up on the unit. They told me that in their computer system it was "authorized for exchange". I was told that the unit cannot be fixed - they told me that the unit was not sent to Pioneer for repair. After calling various 800 #'s per the store customer service rep (totally useless) i finally circled back to circuit city, spoke to a mgr and they told me that they do not carry the avic z series in their store nor in their other stores in their district. I asked the mgr to do a company

are you sure? before going to circuit city (and calling them) i called pionneer and they told me that i only had 1 yr parts and labor warranty. according to circuit city, they told me they send to their service center in atlanta GA - unless pioneer has a service center in atlanta ga

Just an update - i had to send the z1 back to circuit city's service dept. i originally bought the z1 from circuit city back in nov 2006. i took a 3 yr warranty with them (thank god i did) and have sent it back for repair. They dont carry the z series anymore so they told me that if its not fixable, then i would be entitled to the F900. Not really what i want, so hopefully they'll be able to replace the cd/dvd drive and ship it back to me. Boy - its very weird having the stock radio back in my truck. i was told a tun-around time of 7-10 days. anyone have good or not good experience

is there an icon patch you can download so show the icons on xm radio? or can you not do that just yet due to the sirus/xm merger?

For some reason my z1 (upgraded to z3 hd ) will not play any dvd's that i insert into the drive. every dvd i put in it checks the disc and then it says unreadable disc. should the drive be cleaned? anything i can reset that might help?

I too have a Z1 updated to a z3 and also have the NDBT1 bluetooth adapter from Pioneer. I had the entire unit and accessories professionally installed. I dial and receive calls all the time in my SUV (04 gmc yukon) and people tell me they can hear me loud and clear - no echo or any complaints of background noise.

I'm actually going to be getting the audiovox cmos1 camera for my z1. anyone aware of any major differences between the audiovox cmos1 an the NC-b2 from Pioneer besides the price? i saw the audiovox at best buy for $99.

Sure - if your able to find the model # of the camera you have that would be great. If I may ask - how much was the kenwood camera you purchased?
