  1. Z120 updated perfectly. From password/hack update, all the way through... Should have pulled the MSDN Nav unit though - throwing tuner errors - annoying, but not tragic... New Nav/Traffic tuner coming in Friday - I'm only pulling this puppy out ONCE... Thanks to all who contributed and shared their experiences with this update... Rick
  2. Might have to get off my dead butt and try swapping drives - just lazy I guess considering my bus are car are parked right next to each other in my driveway... Thanks for the tip GnatGO - I'm an IT specialist and have been using SpinRite since version 1. I've recovered drives that would have made an OnTrack Recovery specialist blush - and for thousands less. A "tool of last resort" before sending a drive out for recovery. (I say tool of last resort - because out of all the data recovery type software - this one actually WRITES to the drive. I don't recall if I disabled locking on th
  3. Had my Z1 (updated to Z3) since the day they came out - has been in 2 cars already. Bypass is fine. When I play copied movies - sometimes it will get 1/2way through and start freezing up or give a read error - other times it will not read a DVD-R at all. Happens with both single layer and dual layer DVD-R's that otherwise play in every other player and computer in the house. Is there a (safe) way to clean the drive in the unit? Can I order JUST the drive assy from Pioneer and replace it myself (I'm a computer/electronics tech), or does Pioneer do a flat-rate non-warranty fix for uni
  4. Have this installed in my RV - loaded hard disk with the "official" image - and it ran fine for months. RV was left sitting unused for about 6 months. When I fired it up - the Z3 was "stuck" in the boot/flash screen. It fired up all the way - one time after that - and has since been stuck at that screen. What's the "common logic" on this? Hard drive took a crap? I guess I need to swap the drive from the V1/V3 in my CAR into the bus and see if it boots. Out of warranty now - so I guess I need to buy one of Garrett's drives and just install it if that turns out to be the case, eh
  5. I know I'm probably gonna get pimp-slapped for this, but... The download says "virgin Z3". Knowing the folks around here, I assume that even though it says "virgin", that it already has the 2-wire-bypass-hack applied - or does the old Z2 2-wire-hack need to be applied over the top of the installed Z3 image? (ducks and runs for cover)... Rick It DOESN'T MENTION whether the image is 2-wire bypassed or not anywhere in this thread. Or actually, maybe the question should be - Will my 2-wire-bypassed Z2 work with this image (ie: is the Z3 2-wire-bypass, the same as the Z2). Still
  6. Thanks Magnum... Worked like a charm (though I'm an IT/PC specialist, so this stuff is childs play for me). Now I need to yank my console apart to change from the DucatiBoy flasher mod, to the 2 wire mod. Also applied the firmware update for the freeze-on-boot issue (which started right after my Z1 went out of warranty). If anyone is in SoFla (fort lauderdale) area and needs this done, I have the facilities to take care of it for you... Rick
