  1. Fixed it. I ran the language trick through it with my original discs. I had tested a set of discs for a friend like 6 months ago and it updated to 2008 software. Now that I am back on 2007 software, problem is resolved.
  2. Yeah I have the remote, battery is just dead in it so I'll have to grab one for it tomorrow. Reset button did work the same way as pulling the battery. Kill the power though and on the next boot it's just unresponsive. Removed my battery many times and never had this issue. Kinda strange that ours happened to close together too, I've never and cannot find anyone else with this issue.
  3. I just ran out and pulled the battery and rehooked it. Entered in the password and radio worked. Shut the ignition off and back on, stays in "Off". Buttons don't work, so yeah. I guess I will carry a pin around to hit the reset and see what happens over the weekend. Kinda strange.
  4. Any solution? I have this exact same problem after pulling my battery today. Haven't done any checking as to what may cause it yet since I am at work now. Pulled battery, put it back in, drove car with radio. Shut car off, got back in later, cannot get it past "Off". No buttons work.
  5. Looking for someone with a PAC SWI-CAN and willing to help me out! Got an email back from PAC today and they said... "Use a multi meter set to volts DC and read the voltage out of the green wire from the SWI-CAN you may have to unplug the SWI-PS to get this reading" Great but what Voltage should it show?? Mine shows 0. Here is the chart of all mine... Coming from the 6-pin off the VWAH harness going into the SWI-CAN CAN+ (Red/White) - .5 VDC CAN- (Black/White) - 4.5 VDC Yellow - 12 VDC Red - 0 VDC Black - Ground Coming out of the SWI-CAN is the 11-pin... Gre
  6. I did that too. I even asked PAC if it mattered if it was plugged in or unplugged. No matter what I do I just get the same beeps. Suggestions?
  7. Hey guys, Got my AVIC-D3 installed today after all the parts finally arrived. Everything works great except I am unable to program the steering wheel controls. Help from other members advised me to order the following parts... VWAH, SWI-CAN and SWI-PS... Well, I switched the SWI-PS to "3" and held Program while turning on accessory. Pushed program twice, and let it blink 2 times to confirm it was in the correct programming mode. Then shut off the accessory and restarted it. SWI-PS blinked twice as expected. Following the manual again, pushed the program button, waited for the L
  8. I have the SWI-CAN and SWI-PS for my 2008 Volkswagen GTI but I cannot make them work. I have a VWAH harness which means EVERYTHING should be plug and play. But the SWI-PS fails to be programmed everytime. I am in talks with them but due to the American holiday this Monday, I will have to wait till Tuesday for more information.
  9. Hey Mike, fellow Gapper here; I had mine installed about 6 months ago and I love it. The navi issue isn't a big deal as once you plot your route you can save it to "memory" in the unit and then pop out the Nav DVD and pop in whatever you want to listen/watch. This works great in the cities and I have used it many times in S'toon, PA, Eddy, Wpg and Calgary. Just get the address, punch it in to the unit, watch it plot the course and then pop the NAV DVD out. It leads you right to your destination with voice prompts and fantastic on-screen route display (even automatically switches to close u
  10. Can I ask where is this $200 rebate? I just purchased mine... Nevermind, found it. Anyone looking for it... http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/vgn-e ... 67a8c0RCRD
  11. Alright I think I am ready to jump the gun and order this sucker. Just a quick question for the community. Again I am a newbie to this so my question my be dumb but will I need a wiring harness for this to work in my 2008 VW GTI. If so, where is the best place to order them. Also same goes for a dash kit, are there any preferred sites? Thanks everyone

    which ipod

In all honesty, if you are spending the money on an iPod. I would go with a touch. 16gb or 32gb. Then you have an mp3 player with wifi that you can carry with you anytime. We have hot spots all over, might as well be able to check email and stuff from them.
  13. iPods cost more, but have more features. As for generations, if you want a small one, get a nano. If you want a wifi enabled device get a touch. As for loading, yes you would use a computer to put the mp3 files onto it.
  14. Yes they will. There is the iPod hookup (requires the cable) which will pull all the ID3 tags from the mp3s and videos and stream to your D3. Allowing you to change tracks from the head unit as well.. Using a standard mp3 player, you can use a regular 3.5mm stereo jack and plug it into the AUX port. In order to change tracks this way you will need to use the buttons on your mp3 player as it doesn't interface with the D3 in any way besides routing the audio.
  15. Hey thanks for the heads up... Wondering if you or anyone else can help me out here... With the D3 + Bluetooth module. Looking to keep as much of the steering wheel buttons in tact as possible... What all do I need to purchase? The AVIC-D3, BTB200... Would I need both of these? http://enfigcarstereo.com/shopsite_sc/s ... 2R_VW.html http://enfigcarstereo.com/shopsite_sc/s ... WI_PS.html Or just the one you referenced in your post. Thanks again guys!
  16. Ah sweet sweet. That has pretty much sold me on the whole 1 cd limitation. 1 mp3 dvd = 7 mp3 cds so its all good beats my 6 cd mp3 head unit. Thanks man
  17. Ah yeah I was looking at the bundle with the D3, bluetooth, ipod cable and remote. Might as well get them all shipped to me. Way cheaper that way. And yeah if you wouldn't mind finding out about the DVD for me that would be great.
  18. That's good to know as well. Yeah I will probably wait a bit for those 32GB or 16GB iPod touches to come down in price. Haha.
  19. As it appears 6ave.com doesn't have a ship to Canada option. I will try and contact them and see. It sucks cause our dollar is pretty much par with the American dollar at this time and yet things are still $400 more. Oh also, anyone know if you were to put a bunch of mp3s onto a DVD, does this player support and play those? I hate buying CDs. Haha.
  20. Hey thanks for the replies guys. Yeah I live in Rural Saskatchewan, basically a Best Buy is my only option. eBay has a couple of the D3s with Bluetooth, iPod cable and remote for $750 with $65 shipping. That 6ave.com I have never heard of but they are $775 for the same pack. Gonna check and see how much shipping is cause in all honestly, right now Future Shop here has the D3 for $850 on sale. I also don't do any traveling yet so the nav is low need right now, once I start going places, I will buy an iPod to solve the whole nav + music issue.
  21. Hey Everyone, This is my first post here and I am looking for some opinions... This is going to be the first headunit I have ever replaced in car and I was looking at the AVIC-D3. To me it seems like a pretty good one for the price. I have a couple questions though... 1. From what I have read you can only use the navigation or listen to CDs one at a time, correct? While using navigation you would still be able to use the Aux? 2. Can you load mp3s into the memory base on the D3 for playback while using the nav? 3. The buttons on my steering wheel (2008 VW GTI MKV) I am
