  1. Sorry, just because the stock radio dimmed, doesn't mean it was in the harness. You factory head unit is most likely a canbus unit. Dimmer, speed volume control and retained accessory power is controlled by a digital signal. 2 wires on the 16 pin factory harness.
  2. Then stay away from the AVIC FEEDS software when it's finally released. It would appear to be a Google partnership thing. As far as the future update to include google 411 on the f series, that's no big deal. I am assuming it would just be an icon for a speed dial shortcut to 1-800-goog411. Google 411 is just google's free 411 information service. The press release just states that the icon will use a compatible bluetooth connected phone to dial the service. I actually like google 411. Beats the crap out of paying $1.50 to my cell provider every time I need to dial information.

  4. Your instructions are exactly the reason I spent the extra $ for the PAC. I just don't have the patience to do much of that stuff anymore. Sure didn't want to crawl into the tire well to install a radio... Running wires is one thing, keeping it all neat is a different story. I also have a deep aversion to doing anything to factory wiring. Hats off to you guys that do this stuff for a living. Glad to hear that you agree on the PAC harness. Nice write-up, though. Very informative.
  5. Yep. No thanks needed. I was tickled s***less when I came across it. Probably saved myself a good 3-4 hours of sweat. Instruction manual... http://www.pac-audio.com/instructions/c2r-frd1.pdf It actually has a few extra things in it as well. No need for steering wheel control wire. There is also no factory rear seat entertainment wiring in a 'stang, but if it has the factory line in wiring, that should wire up as well. Can't verify that, mine is an '05 and factory line input didn't exist.
  6. Not sure how much your time is worth, but you might want to look at a PAC c2r-frd1 wiring harness. List is like $140, can be found for around $70. Well worth it if you don't want to do a lot of wiring in cramped places. It is a canbus adapter wiring harness. http://www.pac-audio.com/products/produ ... ce-a-Radio About half way down the page. • R.A.P. (Retained Accessory Power) +12v output. • VSS output. • Illumination output. • Parking brake output. • Reverse trigger output. • Digital amp turn-on. • Discrete 5v amp turn-on All right in the harness. Much e
  7. That was exactly my point. They can offer these functions, the question is, why don't they. They used VoiceBox recognition in the f-series. Right from the VoiceBox Emedded product page... "Free-form voice destination entry that simplifies the use of In-Dash Navigation Systems and Portable Navigation Devices" They have been doing it for a while in the z's. OEM have been doing it for years. The only reason I can think of, is that they don't want to cannabalise the z3 sales. I'm curious how many paid the premium for a z just for that. I would think the HDD library, large display, and dual
  8. That review is actually pretty funny...
  9. Ok, I know I'm new here, so forgive me if this isn't the right place to vent my frustrations. I've been looking forward to this release for over a month now. My OCD has been in full swing, as my wife would say. Tired of having Nav in one car, but not the other. I spent the evening reading the user manual for the 900, and I must say I am sadly disappointed. How can Pioneer hype their voice control features for the F-Series, then not allow voice control for navigation? I can specify what artist I want to hear on an iPod via voice control, but if I want to find a gas station (or Chinese re
  10. US Owners manual online for 900bt. http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/ ... .Protected Must be registered to download. Shouldn't be a problem for most folks here...
  11. English version for Europe is available now. No US user operation manual yet, that I have seen. http://www.service.pioneer-eur.com/pees ... 0BT-EN.pdf Hopefully the link works. If not, just go to http://www.service.pioneer-eur.com/pees ... h?openform and search for 900bt.
  12. That would be a Mustang. SN197, meaning 2005-2008. Speaking of Mustangs. Any other ford guys out there? I just ordered a PAC c2r-frd1 wiring harness in anticipation of an F series install in my Mustang. Just wondering if anyone has had experience with these, or the Peripheral Electronics FORDAH. I believe they are the same unit. They are can-bus enabled wiring harnesses that give you... Illumination Retained Acc power Reverse signal VSS Parking brake signal ... all right in the harness. I wasn't looking forward to running a bunch of wires and making taps. Seemed like a no-brain
