1. The Garmin handhelds I have used only have ABCD keyboard layouts also. I use QWERTY on my Honda Nav.
2. That does help some. Part of the problem though is that I am in Orange County, CA, which is very dense, and has a huge number of cities very close together. So it's not unusual for the closest whatever to be in another city. The by vicinity pick does exactly what we need, but it doesn't let you filter by name. If I get the D3, I would end up using that. It's just too bad they don't do that same ordering in the POI pick. My Honda Nav even has an arrow pointing the direction of the POI in addition to the distance in case you don't want to backtrack. You can also constrain to "Along the Ro
3. One thing that has me concerned about the D3 is that while is has 12 million POI, when you put in a name, the output list is not sorted by distance. So when I put in Starbucks, or BurgerKing, or whatever, they are sorted by the street name. Most of the other Nav systems I have seen sort by distance, which seems a lot more useful. Not sure what the Kenwood does.
4. Thanks for the suggestions. I may go over to ProSound since it's not too far from work. And let me know how the E46 install goes also. Chris
5. So if you search for McDonalds, and there are 50 in Manhatten, are those 50 sorted by distance, or just by street name or something else?
6. Anyone have a good recommendations for a D3 & Speaker/Amp installation in OC, California? Car would be a 2004 Mazda Tribute. I know CC and BB are options, and they both are close, but I was wondering what other options were available. Thx, Chris
7. I have the Nav system in my 07 Honda Odyssey, and it sorts by distance with a little arrow showing direction. I'm thinking about getting the D3 for my Mazda Tribute, but this has me concerned. If I put in McDonalds, or Starbucks, or Chevron, I would normally want to have them sorted by distance. If the D3 is not doing this, how are they sorted? The Honda also has an option to show them anywhere along my route, in case I'm looking for something down the road. That's certainly handy on trips, but sort by distance seems like a must have to me. Installation Cost
Got mine installed at Al and Ed's in Temecula, CA. Give them a call ask for Travis and let them know you want a good deal for the install, he'll hook you up.
Will Al & Ed's install a D1/D2 unit that I bring in, or do I have to buy the nav from them?
