  1. I am no expert, but you can always download the version you want on a sd card and try it. I would think if it wasn't compatible, nothing would happen....maybe give you a "not compatible" message.
  2. what are you hoping to accomplish?
  3. uh, pioneer maybe. 8201 NEX is the top of the line NAV pioneer. you would have to decide what your budget was and go from there. I mean seriously, do you think the folks from a pioneer forum is going to recommend Kenwood or other brands. If you are not sold on Pioneer already, I would just suggest doing a google search
  4. pretty sure if the antenna is not connected, you wont get any reception at all
  5. not familiar with your model, but there has to be a way to adjust navigation volume.
  6. ive got the 4200 and using a 30gb classic video ipod, starts over every time. only way i have figured out is to put it on constant shuffle. which is better for me instead of starting on the same song EVERY TIME. seems like there must be a fix. my other car has the Avic Z140BT Nav and it picks up right where it left off.
  7. I know that when I installed my first aftermarket pioneer in my CTS with the factory amplification, it did not fade properly either. It may not be that he installed it wrong, it may just be the way things are gonna be with the stock amp. probably the only way to get the fader to work properly is to bypass the factory stuff. as for the other issues, I cant comment on the ac and all not working. but Blose amps are kinda notorious for not playing nicely with aftermarket.
  8. HowieDoit...I don't think you have to start a new thread to try and get your point across. and turn your CAPS OFF. did you maybe over-look a setting?
  9. I sure have. the ipod from the Cadillac starts on the same aaron lewis song. I just have it on shuffle
  10. I know if you press what I think is the random button on the unit screen, it goes into ,of course, random mood and at least it doesn't start from the very first song on the ipod, which is better for me. But I would like to figure out how to make it pick up from where I left off when starting the car again. but with random, life is some what better
  11. dude, I feel your pain. here is my story. I have 2 vehicles..... Cadillac CTS, z140BT, 30 gig ipod video and with this setup....the ipod will restart where I left off. my 2nd vehicle is a mazda B3000, NEX-4200, 30 gb ipod video and no matter what combination of cables, it will not restart where I left off. Very frustrating. I am not a country fan, but I like Aaron Lewis. I am so sick of the first song on his new CD........Sinner. I am about to remove that CD from my ipod.

  14. I did and thanks for the suggestion. I was able to finally get it to work, been trying for 3 days. apparently the different cables I was trying to use were not the "factory issued" cables that came for the Note 5. I grabbed my GF's cable that came with her Note 4 and it connected right away. so if anyone is trying to use a standard USB cable, you may have issues connecting. Now I just gotta order some Samsung OEM cables.
  15. Has anyone with the Note 5 been able to connect with android auto? I just installed the 4200 NEX with the bypass and cant get it to connect, no matter what. even picked up the pioneer cable kit from best buy and had no luck. the phone shows charging Thanks
  16. I purchased from an ebay seller and had no issues with the install. there was no password. just pop in the SD card and the unit will do the update itself. I did have an issue with my dinosaur ipod video working afterwards. but with some help from this forum, I got it working again and all is well. just unhooked the battery cables for a few minutes and have had no problems since. apparently, a "hard reset" of sort will sort these problems out. good luck
  17. pulling the negative battery cable helped with my update. After updating the ipod would not even show as an option. after doing that for about 5 minutes, all is well. Thanks RonS for your suggestion.
  18. pulling the negative battery cable fixed my issues. sorry to have started yet another thread on this issue. search is your friend
  19. Just picked up a Z140 and got it installed and all was working. it still had the original maps and my 30gb ipod video would play with no issues. Purchased an update from an ebay user and updated the maps and the Bluetooth firmware and now the ipod wont connect or is not even visible. Anyone have any insight as to what could be wrong? Thanks
  20. on any of the updates I have ever done, no password has ever been needed
  21. i'm pretty square trade warranties are purchased at the time of purchase
  22. I think what you will see mostly on a subject like this is people will start yelling "thief". I would just send it to Pioneer. I don't see how anyone could forget a password, sorry
  23. pioneer website states 800x480
