  2. People can use the news groups... much faster to dnload. 1) www.binsearch.info > advanced > query= 'avic' > max age of post: 200 > specifiy alt.binaries.test 2) search > create .nzb file, save to desktop. 3) Import your .nzb file to SuperNZB app to dnload the image. http://www.techsono.com/supernzb/index.html 4) You'll need to know your ISP news server address... typically news.your_isp.net or .com. You will also need to know you login ID PW, typically the same as your email handle and PW. Note: This dnload is 224 files ~50 MB each totaling 10+ gigs... so dial-
  3. WOW, this was soooo easy. I'd like to thank the folks who made this available. Bought a new HD and 2.5" adapter. Connected on 2nd IDE as primary, used windows to format it. Use True Image to restore the downloaded image and from there it was plug and play... Rock on ! Oh ya... after unpacking the image was 8.8 gigs on my SUSE 10.3 Linux desktop.

    iPod and Z2

I was hoping they would have added in at least a alphabet letter short cut like they have in the address book... guess not. Another cool idea would be if they used the HD as a cashed dB so it would poll the HD instead of having to access the iPod every time a song or whatever was searched. Once a song, etc was requested it would then poll the iPod.

    iPod and Z2

I find the browsing capability of my iPod on the Z1 slow and limited in its search functionality. For those who have seen or used the newer Z2 vs Z1 do you find the iPod use convenient to use ? I have 15 gigs worth of music and its cumbersome, lengthly to find the songs or albums. I just looked at the Alpine demo and it looks to be much faster and dynamic to search.
  6. I also have a iPod video FW1.2 and Z1 Aug, and not only does it work just fine but i noticed it polls the data faster !! ... on the Z1 and on the PC. Great work Apple !

  8. I don't recall the BT daisy chaining. On my Z1, BT has its own plugin on the back, seporate from the IP-bus connector. However I will double check.
  9. Well it was bear to get it installed with limited space behind the unit so I'm really looking to pull it out unless its absolutely nessacary. I can send and recieve full duplex calls via bluetooth from the unit and my other voice cmds appear to be functioning. I'm really disappointed this feature is not functioning for me. I'm thinking on hooking it up w/o the hack and see if it performs in the same mannor.
  10. The Z1 manual does indicate some users will hear noises during answer and hang-ups. I can understand hang-ups, but i'm not sure I understand on answer.
  11. try setting gramas as a way point or favorite... it will most likely learn your routing etc and be much more accurate. Also from my short use w/ Z1 its not as accurate as I would like when arraving at destinations. Ex: Z1 says you have arrived destination a head. I know with the hertz rental (i think are nav tec) actually say, your desination is on the left or right when arriving... I liked that cuz some times your left wondering not knowing which direction to look.
  12. That would be great... I was under the impression the Z1 had total hands free capabilities thus a strong reason for me choosing the Z1.
  13. When i was installing my Z1 just this WE I noticed I had a whining noise. Since the noise wasn’t there 5mins prior to hearing it, as I was installing I was confident it was the bunched up wiring. So I simply adjusted and moved the wires a bit behind the Z1 and the noise disappeared. I also used a central point for each leads like battery, acc, and most important ground. If you have another head unit u could try hook it up quickly and see if u can narrow down the noise to HU, RCA'a or AMPs. That should give you a direction at least. Also for testing purpose I would verify t
  14. I'm new to the AVIC-Z1. I just finished installing one in my 06 Civic Hybrid. I have iPod and bluetooth adaptor as well. Can some please help me understand why (hands free) I can't dial by phone number ? I've tried from AV and map source.. I press voice activation button, then say call, then call phone number... and every time the AVIC returns help menu and make me and it keep repeating ? I want to be ale to say home or jims cell and just dial. Is this not possible. I tested park and while driving. My unit is mfg'd in Aug and I have the two wires grounded. My phone is a
