1. before you pull the unit.. you might want to consider this.. i first tried my iphone when it was the Z1 and with the old firmware on the iphone and this did not work it's working now but now it's the Z2 and the iphone has the latest firmware (the one where the purple itunes logo is now present) i don't know which of these (if any) updates caused it to work.. but you may want to update your iphone firmware first and then try it
2. Do you have the Pioneer IPod adapter by chance? And does it work for you with your Iphone?... I will definetly give i a go when I get off work, and post my findings... oh...and thanks no problem yea it works perfectly with the ipod adapter.. i don't use it much since i have most of my music on my regular ipod.. but when i did try it.. it worked great.. it just asks you if you want to go into airplane mode (just select no) and it'll be fine.. the unit will recognize the iphone just like any other ipod.. and the bluetooth part of it will work the same too actually, usi
3. i don't know about just unpairing.. you could try it and see if it works.. if not, then do the hard reset and it should definitely work either way, it can't be a hardware/compatibility issue or anything like that since we're both using the same unit and the same phones
4. i'm almost sure it depends on the volume level your phone was at when you initially paired it.. i had a Z1 which i paired up with an iphone.. the volume on the iphone was full and so i had to keep the z1's volume around just 10-15%.. 20% even got pretty loud then i updated to the z2 and paired it with the iphone again.. this time however, i kept the iphone volume level all the way down (around 10%) after the pairing was complete.. i put the iphone's volume back all the way up.. BUT i also had to put the z2's volume all the way up to 85-90% my point is.. try to do a reset of your un
5. i know this is an old thread.. but whatever happened to this? has anybody tried any microphones (the parrot one or others) and had success? i updated to the Z2 using the image/unlock method (i'm pretty sure that includes the bluetooth fix) and STILL have the echo problem.. also, i keep getting complaints of muffled/poor audio quality i have tried all different placements (visor, on the steering column, etc) with no success.. still too much background noise and lack of clarity any suggestions?
6. yup i do have your bypass and i wanted to avoid having to open it up again to rewire... so thats why i figured i'll ask here first if it improves call quality ok well thanks for the tips though.. ill try different phones and moving it closer.. etc and see how it goes
7. does anybody use a mic other than the one that comes with the Z1? any good ones out there that might have noise-cancellation? or any other solutions to this problem? any help would be appreciated.. thanks.
8. Hey everyone.. I know the bluetooth update fixes the echo issue that a lot of people seem to be having. I have a pre-June (or pre-July, whichever it is) unit but I don't have the echo issue whatsoever. What a lot of people do tell me though, is that the audio quality on their end isn't so great... mostly complaints of a static-y type noise or like it's really windy (even if the car is stopped). So does the bluetooth update improve the actual outgoing audio quality too? Does anybody else ever get complaints regarding quality (as opposed to just the echo)?
9. Hey, I was trying to search for a post office on the Z1 but nothing really comes up. I tried a bunch of searches (USPS, United States PS, US Postal Service, United States Postal Service, post office) but very few come up depending on how they're listed in the database. For example, a post office might be listed as US Postal Service but it'd be one that's like 100 miles away. Is there a 'generic' listing that I could search for on the Z1 that would make all my local post offices show up? (like the way all the Taco Bell or Subway's are organized under one listing and then you click on that to
10.
despite you being a knicks fan, i will chime in. well, actually, you are donating another high pick this year to my beloved bulls, so i owe you one. my installer warned me that the treo would drop the bluetooth like yours. i told him that this website indicated that it would work fine. i believe you should update the treo which is what i did prior to installing the unit. i believe in another thread here someone mentioned that the problems with the treo 650 are resolved if updated.
haha yea.. the knicks are just dumb lately with their moves.. you're right.
11. oh ok.. yea actually they just released a new OS/firmware update for the verizon treo 650.... version 1.05a.. i had 1.04a before and i thought i did that but it didn't work.. i think what happened maybe is that i initiated the pairing from the navi instead of the phone which is probably what i should have done... since you said yours is working, did you update or does it work fine on the firmware version you have (probably 1.04a im guessing if you havent updated in the past week)? please let me know.. thanks so much for your help by the way
12.
Can you set your phone not to go into sleep mode(when the screen goes dark after 30 seconds)?
i too first thought it was because it was going into sleep mode, but it's not that.. the backlight is still on and the bluetooth disconnects immediately (within 1 second) after hanging up a phone call.. also.. after the initial connection, when the Z1 first connects to the phone after startup, it stays connected for about 10-12 seconds (the 30 i said above was a bit generous i think).. and then it disconnects
13. hey.. my bluetooth phone (treo 650, verizon) connects to the Z1, but it disconnects after about 30 seconds... it reconnects when the phone wakes up (on an incoming or outgoing call), but since the bluetooth is not constantly on, i cannot call manually from the Z1 or dial a POI since it does not think a phone is connected.. this is so annoying because it works fine in another car i tried (lexus lx470).. it constantly stays connected in there.. so are there any solutions to this at all?
14. yea i was talking about that green wire also.. i might be wrong (anyone feel free to correct me on this).. but it should work fine with not having the green wire on 5700 connected.. mine isn't connected and the tv tuner is working perfectly fine
15.
I just bought the 5700 from the local 6Ave store for $246 + tax. Reading through the installation manual, I noticed it requires the "green wire" connection to the brakes. Can I just permanently ground that wire or do I need to put it on a switch? I am connecting it to the Z1 with no rear monitor.
i didnt connect mine.. if you're using the bypass (either flashing your lights or using ducatiboy's circuit.. it will work).. i just put some electrical tape at the end of mine
