  1. Because pretty much almost all complaints about F-series are for either bugs or design deficiencies in the software. I don't know if we can be certain slow boot times and sluggish interface can be blamed on software. I hope it is the software, but there is no proof. Same goes for the bluetooth problems. I know for sure my ipod problems (one channel sound) was hardware...
  2. How do we know that these issues can be fixed with a firmware/software update?
  3. Its the cable. I replaced my cable with an apple component cable and it fixed this exact problem. The cable is garbage (as is the AVIC-F IMO)
  4. Yeah when I clicked his video I was guessing it would be like mine, but no, it is MUCH MUCH worse.
  5. You need a cable with composite (left, right, and video) and a USB connector. The apple one runs about 52 bucks normally, but so far is much higher quality than the Pioneer (which stopped working right channel after a few months). Also, Best Buy had the apple cable on clearance, I paid 25 bucks for mine
  6. Mine is similar, though not as bad - it is *usable* although barely. But the frustration level is there. Press a button, wait a second or two, then if it worked great, if not try again. Not cool to do this while driving!
  7. Awww I can't stand to watch the video, the responsiveness! The lack of crashes! I want one so badly, I have already blown 1000 bucks on my AVIC-F.... It was supposed to work like this. Damn you Pioneer!
  8. Hah, try adjusting the EQ, or setting the fade/balance. Its like pulling hippo teeth!
  9. Which unit? Unfortunaltly Iowa isn't exactly the epicenter of car audio so places are limited. I don't think it really matters whether you test the 700,900, or 90, if you are like me, you will find them all to be unacceptable slow and unresponsive.
  10. Thanks for the reply. The more I read about it, the more it seems like this is either a love it or hate it unit. Any links to the new units coming out? What about pricing? One thing that drew me to this unit was the price of it. I keep jumping between this one and the Kenwood DNX 5120 but the Kenwood is about 100 bucks more unless I'm looking in the wrong spot. Looking for more replies concerning both. Thanks Go spend some *serious* time demoing one. Try out the ipod controls, voice controls, and bluetooth. Try adjusting the EQ and fad/bal, see if the response is quick enough for
  11. Is this for ll sources, or ipod only?
  12. Yes it is, I just replaced my crappy broken Pioneer cable with the apple composite cable and it works great! Hopefully this one is more solid than the Pioneer. It sure feels like it.
  13. Well, mine works, both stock and with all my mods, so where's the problem? Well, Boris, so long as it works for you, there isn't a problem -- the rest of the people on here with defective Avic's are just flukes, or their ignorance with technology -- they should know how to correct a frozen Avic or an avic that keeps rebooting -- right Boris? Gotcha. There's no problem here! I'm lovin' my kenwoods and got rid of my Avic's REAL early on (thanks to 6ave.com - who actually told me yeah, we get a lot of those back as returns). Thanks Boris for the clarity. Yeah local installer
  14. Basically my setup screen is stuck on Russian, if I try to change it, the system crashes and I must reboot. During NAV, Jason gives directions, and since he sounds better than Samantha anyhow I have not been too bothered to fix it, but I would like to get it working again. TIA!
  15. Mine does this VERY often. It usually comes back on within 60 seconds. I hate it.
  16. Well, mine works, both stock and with all my mods, so where's the problem? Well mine does not work correctly, so he isn't alone. Bluetooth freezes and won't disconnect. Unit crashes and reboots randomly. Its slow and sluggish. The Pioneer ipod cable is garbage, and I had to replace it if i want to hear both left and right channels. The SD card is absurdly slow. If you cant get voice recognition to work (or don't want to have to wait a minute for the VR to complete), then trying to access the music you want is painstaking and even dangerous. I could go on, but no need to.
  17. I would stay far away from the F90Bt. Go find a store that has one on display. Test the SD card, voice recognition, boot up time, see if you can make a bluetooth call. Really try it out first.
  18. Only ipod/iphone provide voice activated artist/genre/album selection, so I would recommend the cable. Except get the apple cable, the Pioneer one sucks. I just picked up the apple one at Best Buy for 25.99 (clearance).
  19. Good point. but at least the nav part will be solid (Garmin)... True, I love my little Garmin NAV.
  20. I wont ever buy something the week it comes out again. I would like to get that new Kenwood, but I learned my lesson with the F-series, let some other suckers try it out first.
  21. Sorry man, I feel your pain. I used to be a huge Pioneer fan. No more.
  22. I have this too. This is THE most frustrating thing. Having to press the buttons over and over and over to try and get them to work.
